Three main entrees unavailable.
Some of the food was sub-par. For the price this is not worth going to again. Drinks were great. Very smoky inside. Disappointed because many of my friends have raved about this restaurant.
Food was good, atmosphere was very smokey, we had reservations and it took over 30 min to get service
Great spot. Solid food, delicious cocktails. We had great service. A scene. Downsides are that it's pricey and the air is smoky from the wood-fired cooking.
Outstanding, creative food, appetizers to desert. The hot foods were served steaming...to all of us.
The food here is amazing, a bit pricey, but amazing! The staff is very friendly. Be warned, it can get pretty loud in there.
Another great meal at Rappahannock. Only drawback was that we were seated next to the podium and entrance to the new bar area. There was to much going on that it became distraction.
Excellent grilled Octopus & Whole grilled fish!
No words!!!!!outstanding fantastic incredible perfect
Always love their raw bar. Portions are good. Drinks outstanding. Waitress was wonderful
Food and oysters were fantastic. Only downside was that the kitchen isn’t well ventilated being right in the middle of the restaurant, so my eyes were getting watery from the smoke.
Rappahannock is very pricey for what they serve. Entrees were very good, but the oysters were tiny (smaller than a quarter) for 2.50 each. Oysters are what they are known for, but better places to go for oysters for much less. Probably won’t go back. Too many other great choices.
Great food and apps. Service fantastic.
Excellent food and cocktails. Large wait staff that is friendly and attentive, would highly recommend.
Food was great. An interesting menu.
Birthday - I was disappointed- the scallops were drowning in what was (purportedly) s Brown butter vinaigrette- it was sweet and cloying. The rockfish and oyster hour ride had a lovely sauce / not an oyster in sight . The bread was delicious- the best dish was the baked oysters . The tuna tartare was fresh and tasteless.
I don’t foresee another visit. When Rappahannock opened in rva it was very good / it’s now average to good
The food was good. The tuna tartare was wonderful. The cocktails were absolute crap. Nice selection on the bubbly though
The server was friendly, but the food was sub- standard. Wouldn’t recommend.
We love heading to any offerings from the Rappahannock oysters folks and this downtown Richmond hotspot is one of our faves. Along with some of the best oysters in the world, the creative seafood offerings and more are better than ever. Whatever whole fish is on the menu that night...get it!
Excellent food, atmosphere and service!
The restaurant is smokey from the wood fire cooking. The food was excellent oysters from the region, a great ceviche, and a fabulous monk fish. Highly recommend the olive oil cake. You are going to pay for your meal but it is like nothing anywhere else. The waitress made the experience. Trust your waiter, they know the menu.
Food was great but pricey. Very limited non-seafood choices
The restaurant had a lively atmosphere and interesting menu options, but half of our dishes were not very tasty. If the prices were lower, we wouldn't of cared, but since they are quite high, I'm not sure we will go back. Maybe just for oysters and drinks.
We never actually ate there because the menu was very limited. For a so called seafood restaurant there are only four seafood choices for a full meal. And very limited. For example, I asked if they could alter the meal - no they couldn’t. Apparently the chef does not work with his customers. I have eaten in wonderful seafood restaurants all over the world that had creative dishes but the ones offered at Rappahannock were not appealing for their cost.
If you want oysters only then this is your restaurant.
We ended up at Boathouse downtown.
Absolutely outstanding cocktails! Oysters fabulous. Paella delightful. Service was a little off and it was super noisy and smoky (the wood fired kitchen grill). But we’ll be back in a heartbeat!
Excellent food but meal quickly becomes expensive with 5 oz wine servings @ $13/glass and bread serving for additional $5. Dinner for 3 at $250.
The food at Rappahannock is wonderful. We started with the baked oysters which were fantastic. Then I had the wood grilled fish which was fantastic as well. And my wife had the scallops which were also wonderful. However the superlatives end there. Thanks to noisy patrons at the bar, which is quite large, and a view of the kitchen wash up area, the atmosphere is lacking. So all in all we would probably not return, Which is a shame because the food was really quite good.
Fabulous meal and excellent service. There was a large party in the restaurant, and they were careful to offer us a spatial separation.
The service was outstanding and the food was very good. I was disappointed that two of the fish dishes from the menu were unavailable. It did not leave many seafood options.
great evening! food delicious!!!!waiter excellent! real treat! thanks!
