   Honestly if you love seafood, this is the place to go. Specifically if you love Rappahanock’s Old Saltes oysters, this is the finest joint in town for raw oysters. They also have one of the best steak tartars I’ve ever had. And octopus! Those are my favorites. But you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Drinks are also great. I will say that the service is fantastic. If you go at a busy time, it does get a little loud and a little Smokey in there, but still totally worth it. Sunday evenings are the best. This is one of the best restaurants in town.

   Wonderful food. Service was attentive but slow. There weren’t many cocktail choices but they made one up for me with my specifications! Overall a good experience.

   It was super busy downtown and no parking to be found so if there is an event, factor in even more time to find parking. Service was very slow (it was crowded) but friendly. Very small menu, pricey. What we had was good, not great, but the whole overall experience was not what we had hoped for and not worth the price.

   The food here is excellent. Delicious sauces and fresh oysters. Unfortunately, the table service can be a bit slow. Next time we will sit at the bar and get a more personalized experience.

   The food here was not exceptional despite the prices reflecting it should be. Sadly, the best thing we were served was the patty of my wife’s hamburger. The oysters and clams were painfully average, the side served with the hamburger unidentifiable and unpleasant, and the nut topping on the dessert stale. I have eaten at three other restaurants within a block of this one and all were far better and comparably prices. Staff was pleasant and service was good.

   Dinner was outstanding! I cannot stop thinking and talking about it. From the caviar and fresh oysters the grilled octopus, baked claims, and beet and carrot salad. I will be dreaming about this meal for some time to come.

   Not what I expected, especially for the price. Service was great but food and ambiance less than exceptional. Could have experienced better at the Boathouse with a river or lakeside view. Again the service was great but definitely did not live up to prior reviews. My wife and I had the baked oysters, paella, and whole fish meals.

    Our second trip. Last time was pre-pandemic. Everything was still amazing! Cocktails and entrees were outstanding. Ray (our server) did a great job educating and guiding us towards a stellar experience! Thanks!

    Katie is an awesome server and made great recommendations. One of our party left a phone behind and she ran down the street to make sure we got it! Love this restaurant especially the oysters of course.

    Medium burger was cooked rare…we didn’t bother sending it back. Ordered three appetizers for the table but only two received. We dined early but food took what seemed to be a while to arrive. They were nice to let us sit for a while and didn’t rush us out. I ate a fish dish and got sick later on that night; not sure why, but I don’t have any other symptoms of a virus. Generally, food was tasty and beautifully presented

    My husband and I went out for date night. Food was outstanding. The paella had crispy rice- which I’m just still thinking about- soooo delicious. We also had the grilled octopus, raw oysters, and whole fish. All outstanding. Our only criticism was that the restaurant was a little smoky from the grill and made our clothes smell. We will be back!

    This our first time visiting Rappahannock and we will definitely be back. The oyster & pearls small plate was amazing! All the other dishes were wonderful as well.

    The service was fantastic and 80% of the food was great, my main entrée came with rice and the rice was burnt into big inedible chunks, but other than that it was fantastic.

    Great vibes inside and had a kind knowledgeable server through the whole evening. The oysters and pearl dish was so good and the combination of their oysters with the trout roe was delightful. Well flavored meaty sea scallops in an interesting Thai broth with black rice. The gelato was also top notch. Totally loved my meal here!

    We went to Rapphannock before a concert and everything was top notch. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and alcohol and made good recommendations and our food was excellent. We will continue to consider Rapphannock a favorite

    While the service and the raw oysters were excellent, the menu is disappointingly limited. The paella had such an off flavor and texture that it was inedible. At such a high price point, I expected at the very least the rice to be cooked (not soupy). I don’t think we will return.

    Service good; food ok, for the price, well, underwhelming. Seafood Tower was more like a, "seafood studio apartment." Char-grilled octopus: tepid and surprisingly tough (sent back); restaurant comped with the pork relish plate, which was good. Martinis a bit diminutive (charging an extra $3 for three olives, unique revenue approach yes, but really?). Scallops, YoW, perfect! ~ third visit here, probably won't be back for a while, just not enough quality in the food & drinks for the price.

    Very dissappointing! Server was very nice, but I don't understand all the positive reviews on food... because the food was not good at all with exception of raw oysters (which you can't scree up). The grilled octopus was so rubbery that it was inedible. The rice in the paella dish was black and burnt to a crisp and ground our teeth it was so hard. For the high prices they are charging, ($100 for 3 items), I would recommend you spend your money elsewhere. We reall felt like we wasted our money here. Hope this helps someone from making a mistake like we did.

    While the octopus appetizer was the best presentation for the evening the remainder of the food items were unacceptable. The flavor, presentation, quality are something I would expect from a novice kitchen and potentially an untrained chef. The wait staff are kind and provide exceptional service and advice. However, regardless of the positive comments that led me to try this restaurant.. our experience was subpar and a culinary flop.
