Angie, our server was great. From beginning to end great meal. Only issue was price of local oysters. Otherwise great meal.
Seafood was fantastic!! Excellent meals and ambiance was perfect.
Our second time here - was much more impressed by the food this time. Happy hour appetizers were delicious and the oysters were on point (ordered 3 dozen) for the table. The whole fish was great. Docked a star because they were out of a few menu items and low on dessert options. But it was an enjoyable evening. The staff was really nice and attentive.
We had a great dinner during Happy Hour! Delicious oysters, delicious small plates ( Szechuan shrimp with toast points, kimchi baked oysters)
Family get together
Service folks totally forgot about us - took over a 1/2 hour to place an order and then another 20-30 minutes for some of it to show up. Some never showed. Food was fine but overall, not a very good experience.
If you love oysters this is definitely the place to be! We sat at the bar on a very busy Saturday night where a half dozen bartenders & the manager were in “all hands on deck” mode. The restaurant was packed, as was the bar, but even with all the small plates, entrees, large trays of oysters, etc being served the staff was very attentive and welcoming. Industrial chic & comfortable decor in an old cigar factory too. All in all, very good food with excellent ambiance.
Outstanding! Wodeful service superior food…. Highly recommended.
Mussels and grilled oysters were excellent. Fish and chips, Wagyu steak and curried shrimp were also excellent. Red fish that was the day's special was disappointing and expensive, and we worried we'd have to take my son through a drive-through after dinner for something to eat!! . Service was horrible; it appeared that there were only two servers to cover the entire restaurant and patio as well (maybe a few wait staff called in sick?), and our waiter tried his best, but was just stretched too thin! Loved the atmosphere and building!
This was our first night in Charleston. The oysters were bland. They didn’t have any flavor. We tried all the different types even the “guests”. One of us got the shrimp and grits which were good and another had the fish Milanese which was WONDERFUL.
I appreciate that everyone is understaffed and trying to do their best but this place is completely disorganized and seemingly indifferent to their customers. Also extremely disappointed that the staff is not wearing masks. A huge management failure in my opinion.
To start, I will say the one positive was that it’s super cute and has a great energetic atmosphere. However, the service and food was horrible. It took forever to get our drinks and our food order was messed up. The grilled oysters seemed like they sat under a heat lamp until they pretty much dried up. The server forgot to bring us plates and took close to 10 minutes to get his attention. Even the bread (how can you go wrong with bread?!) was blah. The mussels tasted like horse manure. It was the worst dining experience ever. We will never go back.
This was our first time eating there. We enjoyed it and will come back!
Nikki, our server, was delightful and efficient. The food was delicious. Our only issue was with the hostess. We were seated at a table closest to the kitchen. One of our party is hearing impaired so we asked to be moved to a booth for that reason. The hostess told us the booth was reserved for a party of 5, which we accepted. However, shortly thereafter, she seated a party of 3 at that booth.
Food was good but service was horrible. Waiter first approached the table after 10 minutes of waiting. Took 20 minutes for initial draft beer to reach the table. Waiter didn’t take food order until about 45 minutes after sitting down and then served food without cutlery/silverware. Manager feigned interest. We don’t ask for much but really!?!
Food was outstanding, from the oysters to daily fish special to shrimp and grits to the burger. Acoustics are challenging for conversation. Happy to tip the shuckers but maybe there’s a better way than another tip line on the check?
Outstanding food and service. The scallops and mussels were Devine. Also enjoyed the Spanish-style cheesecake.
First time visiting…. the service and drinks were good, the food was not what we expected.
We love Rappahannock! We come several times every time we’re in Charleston!!
Very very nice oysters, great fish, very nice ceviche. good wine list👍👍
The food and staff were excellent, worth the trip, great osyters
Great oysters, Sunday special $1 per Great!
As always, Rappahannock Oyster Bar outperformed. We will be back soon.
Very accommodating. Tried their beat to work with a larger party. Food was excellent. Very fresh
Excellent food. Nice ambiance. Friendly service. Don't be in a hurry as it takes a while for the food to arrive.
Superb! It was delicious. We had clams, mussels, pursuers and grouper. All excellent!
The customer service was great, food was excellent the only thing was the time frame on receiving our food was a bit long.
Excellent service and quality. Highly recommend the slaw as a side. Oysters were great as were the craft cocktails.
The hostess was very nice and allowed me to switch tables to be away from the bar since my mother has trouble hearing. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about food, he as able to answer all of our questions and accommodate dietary restrictions. The scallops and beef tartare were to die for, we really enjoyed our visit!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the ambience!
Once again, we enjoyed a delightful experience at Rappahonnock. The place was quite busy and the talented servers did their utmost to please. My husband enjoyed the oysters while I had a fresh bib salad. Instead of a seafood filet dinner, we each had a sandwich, the Shrimp Po'Boy and the Oyster Po'Boy. We agreed the shrimp was superior in its taste and crunchy texture.
Be prepared for great food and great service. The interior space is loud when crowded.
Good place overall. The only issue is that they advertise Happy Hour oysters at $2 when the regular price is also $2. That means they should not be considered a happy hour item.
Wonderful food, service and presentation. We ate outside on the lovely, nicely lit patio and had a delightful evening. I look forward to returning.
Always like to take my clients there for after work drinks.
Great food. I always love the blackened shrimp and grits! Great service (thanks Michael!). We sat outside and the weather in September was beautiful.
The raw Rappahonnock oyster were sweet and delightful. The grilled oysters with butter and jalapeños were sublime. The shrimp and grits had black garlic mushrooms on top that was just incredible.
My husband had a drink special, a Rosie Somethingor other, that he enjoyed.
The home made ice creams, vanilla, mint chocolate chip and peach/blackberry were smooth, sweet and creamy.
Our waiter, Anthony, was very nice and very helpful.
Absolutely loved the ambiance and food! Our server seemed to be having an off night, but it wouldn't stop us from returning.
Overall was good but we have to wait after we ordered food a good 20 mins, portion were small. The shrimps and grits were quite salty but the red snapper tartare and the Milanese were divine
