Nice, but not outstanding.
Well done food, small portions for the price.
For 4 people one drink and one entree each the cost with tip was $168.
I think this is one of the best restaurants in Charleston. Located a little off the beaten path which makes it even more enticing. Oysters were very fresh and food was incredible overall.
Great experience all the way around. Grilled oysters are amazing!!!
Great food and service!
The place was a little too loud for my liking. Would suggest some noise dampers in the ceiling.
We had a lovely dinner at Rappahannock Oyster Bar. The raw oysters were delicious. We made during happy hour and appreciated the great prices for the oysters and the wine.
Our entrees were also very good and had great eye appeal. The octopus and wreckfish were perfectly prepared. Our server was cordial.
John was a great bartender and host. Our waiter was great and very knowledgeable. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcomed.
Oysters, crab cake and grilled whole fish were amazing. Our favorite seafood place in Charleston!
The menu was great, the drinks were great, and the service was on point. We had a group of 77 and our server stayed on top of us the entire night. Loved it all so much! We will be back for a round 2.
A college reunion for 11 girls and our experience could not have been better! Our waitress was amazing and very patient. The food was EXCELLENT and the drinks were great! Will be coming back!
I would have preferred a more central location but that’s what I get for waiting until the last minute. I thought the food was great and somewhat unique but let’s face it- they served us saltines with our fish dip. Entree portions were small; I’d recommend ordering multiple plates to try and share. Overall a good experience but a little over priced.
Always the freshest fish. Outstanding in all manners.
Excellent service and food. Delicious oysters and shrimp and grits. One of our favorite places to dine.
What a great place. Oysters were awesome. Kacey (sp?) was an amazing server. Food was fabulous. Great vibe. All around terrific.
Sit at the bar and let John take care of everything. Great service and food.
Nice ambiance, attentive service, and great food. Approximately half of their tables are high-tops, so if mobility is an issue, make sure to request a low table.
Curried fish and ceviche were unbelievable. Preston was an amazing server, we had a wonderful time. Thanks again.
We have dined here about a half dozen times in the last 3 months. We have found every aspect to be delightful. Warmly greeted at arrival, pleasant and very well informed servers (who can actually describe dishes in detail) , large variety of seafoods , raw or otherwise, generous portions. All fairly priced. Big bar with tv’s too. We have brought friends on occasions and they felt the same way.
Food was excellent and creatively prepared. Oysters were wonderful, but could have been cut better. The smoked jalapeno butter was great.
Excellent food -- especially raw bar items. Good for oyster and raw fish lovers.
I am personally a very boring eater so I had a tough time finding something to eat. I ended up ordering the crab cake and I enjoyed it. The service was slow. To the point that I was retrieving our completed drinks from the bar myself. I also had to hit the bar for condiments, etc... The bar staff was awesome and on point. The waitress, not so much. She was very nice though and in her defense, could've just had more tables than she could keep up with.
This place is always on point. Their food and drinks are outstanding. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Charleston. You also get to park for free right outside the front door. How does it get any better?
Perhaps the best raw oysters I have ever enjoyed. Great atmosphere, excellent bourbon list, highly recommend.
The service was not the best, the waitress told us that they were understaffed that evening
Waitress was nice but mediocre with service. Otherwise, great!
Wonderful meal. Oysters were outstanding.
Great find off the beaten path. Food was delicious, service was good and the beverage list was perfect for the location.
We were visiting Charleston for a special occasion and asked relatives who live there what they recommend. Both had heard great things about Rappahannock but hadn't been themselves. It lived up to its reputation! Very pretty inside. The service was excellent. Food was attractive, creatively prepared and delicious! Parking available on the premises, which is a premium in Charleston! We would return and do recommend!
Get your Oyster fix at The Rappahannock Oyster Bar happy hour. Select Oysters are priced at $1 per oyster. Menu has large selection of other shellfish and seafood. Great pub ambiance for guys night with lots of draft beer selections.
Outstanding food experience combined with exceptional service. Truly one of the best seafood restaurants along the East coast!!!
Wonderfully chic restaurant with great fresh seafood. Prices trend on the pricey side but well worth it! Only negative is be careful in the parking lot at night - felt threatened by an undesirable right near entrance to restaurant. Called police after being able to safely escape.
Oysters were the best. Waiter was great but could likely use an extra waiter
We enjoyed Rappahannock on a rainy Wednesday evening so it was rather quiet there that night but I loved our server, Cheyenne, and our bartender, Andrew. Our oysters from VA were delicious - big and salty! - and our small plates were also terrific (trout, pate, and local greens).
One of my favorite places to go, especially with out of town guests. I’ve been for both dinner and for happy hour several times, and every time is enjoyable. Service is always great, food is outstanding and drinks are always changing and creative. Would absolutely recommend!
I wish I could give 5 stars. For food and service once we were seated I'd say 5 stars (everyone at our table enjoyed their meal). I am giving a 4 because we had reservations for 830. We arrived around 825 and were told they were waiting for a table to get up. Around 845 I asked the hostess how much longer and she said they were still ordering dessert! At 9 pm we still had not been seated so I went back to the hostess station and couldn't find anyone. Around 910 (40 minutes after our reservation) someone saw us looking restless and STILL awkwardly standing by the bar and asked if we needed anything. She was able to get the ball moving to get us seated. I am mostly upset because no one made it a point to update us or apologize or even offer anything (appetizer, drink, etc) for seating us so late compared to our reservation. I know restaurants cannot control guests but honestly this is the longest (by a long shot) that I've had to wait AFTER my reservation time. Once we were seated the food and service were good but I can't say I'd go back due to this experience.
Food and atmosphere are great... Although our server was very nice and apologetic, she was missing for long spells and ordering drinks was an exercise in patience as they didn't make it until the end of our dinner. I'd be more understanding if it weren't for the fact there were only two of us and the place didn't appear to be overwhelmingly busy.
Awesome! Great atmosphere and service. Food was great
