The name came from 嵐山 "Arashiyama" which also can be read as Ranzan. Arashiyama is a location in Kyoto, Japan where the Ranzan restaurant concept came from.
At Ranzan, the menu will change every month according to the seasons in Japan.
The kaiseki dishes and the service are both excellent. The ambience is pleasant and simple. As this is kaiseki I would have enjoyed more of a private feeling, but overall highly recommended.
A gem in Redwood City! Wonderful food and sake selection. Amazing service and attention to detail every step of the way. Great spot for a quiet dinner, special celebration and business dinner or lunch.
A gem in Redwood City! We dined at Ranzan for an early lunch. We felt like celebrity rock stars! Besides having the restaurant nearly all to ourselves, the service was extremely attentive and the food was beautiful and specially prepared. A perfect spot for the birthday lunch we celebrated. I will be back again!
This was a unique and amazing experience. I feel honored to have had the pleasure of this authentic Kaiseki dinner. It’s well worth the price, especially for special occasions.
This is my third time eating here in 3 weeks. Each meal I've had here is exquisite! Every dish a work of art! Truly one of my favorite restaurants of all time.
I was thrilled with this restaurant for dinner, so tried it for lunch. Brilliant! Just as exquisite!
What an extraordinary experience dining can be! Having been to Japan over 100 times in the past 12 years, I can tell you that this Japanese restaurant is among the best I've ever visited. Incredibly attentive and kind service, and every dish was like a work of art as well as delicious.
A fantastically authentic Japanese course meal restaurant. Every foodie must give this place a visit.
So authentic and delicious. I'd like more people to find out about this resto!
Everything is good but the food. Food is very ordinary and did not worth the price in hundreds. Just edible
Amazing! Pricey for sure, but worth it for the experience. Every dish delighted and very attentive service. I mentioned that it was my husband's birthday in the reservation and they noted this on his menu when we arrived and even sang happy birthday. We will definitely look to Ranzan for special occasions and the need for a special night.
