Lots of competition on this street (Laurel, San Carlos)......used to be quite crowded but has thinned out lately....Burmese/Thai food is tasty and different....portion size adequate for two....friendly service. Love their pad thai and mango chicken.
Great service and food didn't disappoint. We ventured into some new menu items, which were absolutely delish. Will be returning soon
Met with friends for dinner and had a really nice time. The waiter was really nice about making sure that the spice levels of our dishes were to our satisfaction and everything was great. My favorite is the Sesame beef but you have to try the Samosas as well!
Good, interesting food. Good, attentive service. Many food choices. A little heavy on oil. Nonalcoholic drinks cost too much. Looking forward to trying salads next time. Curried eggplant was divine. Rice was a little mushy.
The fermented tea leaf salad was unique and nothing I would have ordered if it hadn't been recommended by a local merchant. The salad was a very tasty vegetarian option, and even if you're not vegetarian, still good.
I know that samosas are deep fried since they are one of my favorite bites and I have them often, nevertheless, these were too oily for my liking and the stuffing was a bit bland. Some might prefer a faint taste of curry, but I prefer a bolder curry taste.
It was quite loud when I was there at 5:30pm because of a large gathering of people at one table behind us, but nothing too disruptive.
Our server did a good job helping us order according to our dietary restrictions.
All in all, a very nice dinner.
We went to this restaurant to celebrate my sons birthday. My husband had seen a review for this restaurant on "Check Please". It received high marks for their food. We were so glad we tried this place. the food was terrific. We have never been to a Burmese restaurant before and we were not disappointed. We will definitely go back. We had the Sesame Beef, sooooo goood. the string beans very good and the Tofu Beef dish, spicy but was enjoyed.
The service was very good. Our waiter very attentive.
food was good, but a little on the expensive side
The staff members are attentive and pleasant. Our waiter helped with recommendations that were right on for our tastes. The tea lead salad is a must try when visiting. The coconut ice cream is delicious. There isn't a full bar, but a great selection if wine and beer.
Valentines. Very crowded of course and staff was overwhelmed.
Lovely Valentine's dinner. Opted for the special event menu and food was amazing. They gave away a rose to reach table and although it was very busy the food was fabulous and we'll be back for sure!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. My favorites are the tea leaf salad, garlic egg plant, and coconut rice. So amazing!
We enjoy coming to Rangoon Ruby. The food is excellent, the service is friendly. We enjoyed the Samosa Salad and the Basil Chli Swai. The lemongrass chicken was also good.
The food here is as good as any of our NYC favorites! Closer and easier access! Yay!
Perfect lunch with a dear friend. We shared lettuce wraps, mango salad and mango curry. De-lish! They didn't rush us and were just the right amount of attentive.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Food is always good. San Carlos restaurant is small so you tend to feel cramped.
The service and food were very good. Appetizers, entrees and a couple desserts averaged about $50+ a plate for five persons. Slightly expensive for what we got, but again it was a very nice meal.
This restaurant is our new favorite! Because we spend a significant amount of time in Manhattan, where even most food carts are amazing, it's hard to get us excited about local fare. But, the rice salad alone has us hooked.
Food always great! Service is excellent! Worth every dollar! 😋
Didn't know Burmese food was so tasty! The tea leaves salad and the tofu appetizer are a must have! Even the samosa soup was delicious. Totally worth the drive from Cupertino.
Food was great as always, however, I think they may have been understaffed as service was slow. They usually have top notch service, but had to ask twice for water refills and they didn't give us new plates after the Tea Leaf Salad, before our entrees came, which they usually do. Hopefully, this is a one time thing as it was somewhat disappointing.
Excellent food and service. I have seafood and fish allergies and they were very accommodating.
The restaurant was very empty, yet we were hurried to place our order. I have frequented this restaurant in the past and it seems the quality of the food has diminished.
Yummy little place. A nice option in the sea of same in San Carlos.
Rangoon Ruby has a great menu and a friendly staff. I enjoy eating there whenever I get the chance. I recommend the garlic noodles, pumpkin stew, and tea leaf salad. Bring a friend and don't forget to order friend banana for dessert.
Excellent food with a wide variety of choices available at several levels of spiciness. Although the restaurant was not at all crowded, the service level was a bit amiss (refills of water required more than one request). And despite a specific reference to the occasion being a birthday, nothing special was offered, including anything from the staff.
Wonderful food and service. We love the Samosa salad and basil chilie Swai. We tried a pork dish this time and it was very good.
I went here with my son and daughter in law and my 2 small grandsons. wait staff was very friendly and good with the two little ones. we appreciate that very much.
We love coming to Rangoon Ruby, San Carlos. The Samosa Salad is excellent and so is the Basil Chilie Swai. The service is great.
Excellent as usual! All three of our dishes and the tea lead salad were superb! The service was excellent as well. The only thing not excellent is the limited beer selection.
Had a great dinner, especially the tea leaf salad. Looking forward to our next visit!
Wonderful food with good friends. enjoyed our dinner
Enjoyed everything. We ran late waiting for a United flight to arrive at SFO. It was more than 30 minutes late. Restaurant called and when I told them our dilemma. They said they would keep the reservation open
The Tea Leaf Salad is always amazing, we will definitely be returning to try more dishes.
We enjoyed our food and sake at Rangoon Ruby's. Service was adequate - nothing terribly special, but not terrible either. My Ruby Shrimp were fantastic and my fiancee enjoyed his Lamb Kebat as well.
It was my wife and I's 27th wedding anniversary and the hottest sept 1st in bay area history. When my wife called to make reservations she specifically asked if they had air conditionioning and the hostess said they did but it was running on low(?).As we walked up to the restaurant we noticed all the windows were open(not a good sign). The food was very good but it was so damn hot without any hint of air conditioning that it was too uncomfortable to fully enjoy our food.My wife started feeling faint so we ended up taking the rest of our food home.It will be an anniversary dinner we will never forget!
We enjoyed it very much! We asked our waiter Victor to refined many dishes and one was better than the other.
The tea leaf salad is a 10 and not to be missed. We also had the eggplant with shrimp that was excellent as was the vegetable pad Thai. The only disappointing dish was the jalapeño chicken. It had no sauce and we thought it a little dry. We usually go in Palo Alto which has more buzz, but for a quieter, more relaxing dinner with the same food, go to San Carlos.
Always a wonderful experience. We love the food especially the Samosa salad and the Basil chilie swai ( fish). The service is always friendly.
Always enjoyable. We love the food and the great service. Our favorites are the samosa salad, the various seafood dishes and some of the vegetarian dishes such as the eggplant and green beans. Rangoon Ruby has a good selection of beers and wines.
