Delicious new option in the neighborhood, with great outdoor seating!
Food and service were both great! They had good heaters and social distancing for outdoor dining. Will definitely return.
Really great food, we didn't have a great experience because of a 2 hour wait for our food but given COVID times, it's hard for anyone to know how many people will be ordering takeout, walking up, etc. So I don't blame them too much.
Would definitely get take out from here, not sure I'd go back to sit down again though!
Food was delicious and the staff super friendly and accommodating, given the pandemic-related circumstances! Outdoor shed is beautifully designed (and well ventilated). A great way to celebrate NYE.
Food is delicious!
The food and service were both outstanding. The menu is well rounded yet not excessive, with great options for all diners and for sharing for a variety. The serving sizes are quite generous as well.
For winter outdoor dining, each table has a space heater to keep you warm. The backyard tables were well spaced and located to block any cold wind, keeping us quite comfortable even on a cold day.
Excellent all around, great service and very unique food
Delicious duck and chicken curries. Great selection of cocktails, beer, and wine. Would recommend for a date or a casual dinner.
Good outdoor dining experience. Had to wait 10-15 min despite having a reservation. Ate in an enclosure on the sidewalk, heater under the table. Was a bit cold with temp in the 50s, but warmed up when the food arrived. Got the DELISH braised pork. Onion fritters also amazing. Fantastic meal, above average outdoor dining situation.
I've been to Rangoon twice in the past few weeks -- it's a true gem in outdoor dining spot to meet a friend and have some tasty home cooking style cuisine. I loved the pumpkin stew and pork meatballs appetizer. The tea leaf salad was tasty. On second visit, I had the duck special with congee. And we had a mint tapioca (yum!) for dessert. They have a great drinks menu (although I wish they had a warm cocktail option). Service is super friendly and knowledgeable. Under the table heaters and backyard seating (no street noise) makes for cozy experience.
Great spot to dine out during Covid. They have double sided heaters set for each table. Highly recommend the tea leaf salad and noodles!
Rangoon's back garden was the perfect place to celebrate a birthday during COVID. It was very warm and cozy (every table had heaters), delicious, and felt very safe. The food was great - my friend and I were both vegetarian, and we enjoyed the deep fried street salad, garlic noodles, and pumpkin ginger stew. The wine list is fun and interesting (made entirely of small-batch, natural options) and the cocktails were also unique and delicious. Our waiter made us feel right at home!
Great cocktails, food and service. Tasty pumpkin lentil stew and my friend loved the beef shan noodles. The outdoor dining setup in the backyard was very comfortable, even in 30 degree weather, because of the under table heaters.
Highly recommend!
Service needs to be improved. We were seated 20-25 minutes after our reservation time. It seems that they were seating walk-ins before people who had reservations. Outdoor seating due to covid which isn't a problem, but they use heaters - not heat lamps. The heaters do not keep your very warm so it was a bit of an uncomfortable experience. Food took a long time to come out, which only worsened this outdoor dining experience. The food itself was fine. But the dining experience was poor. Won't be going back.
Despite a rainy night, we had a great experience. Cocktails were good, the food was excellent and the service was great. We will definitely be returning!
They seated us in the lovely garden and the service was courteous and prompt. As always the food is delicious. I would definitely recommend going — prefer the garden to the sidewalk. We especially liked the fish curry, the tea leaf salad and the onion fritters.
Poor service. Our mains (noodle soups, chosen off of a small menu) took two hours. They came out shortly after asking when we could expect it, but they were luke warm. Noodles should be piping hot. Their excuse was they were backed up and someone “might have smoked too much weed.” Unfortunate because we had heard wonderful things.
Disclaimer: My friends and I dined in front of the restaurant on the sidewalk due to COVID-19 restrictions regarding indoor dining.
Four of us dined and shared the Starters: Deep Fried Street Salad, Onion Fritters, Tea Leaf Salad, and Meatballs. All of those dishes were great and I'd get them again. For my Main, I ordered the Sweet & Tangy Braised Pork accompanied by Jasmine Rice. I have a good size appetite, but I only made it through half of the dish and took the other half home.
There's a small selection of beer, wine, and cocktails, but I don't believe that it's a full bar. The spicy cocktail packs a decent amount of heat!
Lovely ambiance and good food, though definitely white people Burmese!
Good food, friendly staff
The food here was not as good as other Burmese restaurants I have had the fortune to dine in. The food is more bland. I'm assuming they are trying to cater to American palates, but this is unnecessary and a mistake. Burmese food is wonderfully flavorful, but not in a hot spicy way. I dined on the back patio this past Saturday. It was 42 degrees outside, but they had a space heater for every table and I dressed warmly. I never would have dined outside in this weather if it was not for the pandemic. Anyhow, I hope this restaurant succeeds. There is a dirth of Burmese food in NYC.
Managed to have a great dinner- cold rain be damned! Supper tasty food and great service.
Delicious unique dining in a quiet quaint space!!
Worth the walk all the way from Williamsburg. The splendid folks in the kitchen and on the floor (co-owners, Chef and Maitre d') do a fantastic job, where the quality and flavors of the dishes is matched by solicitous and kind service .
Great Burmese cuisine. For authentic menu items, try the curries, garlic noodles, coconut rice, onion fritter and tea leaf salad. Mohinga, in my personal opinion and having eaten Burmese food all my life, is a bit light in flavor and consistency for the broth. They do provide fish sauce to season more ,but I am used to the thick fish broth. I think they reduce the seasoning to accustom to the taste of westerners who are not used to heavy seasoning of fish and fish sauce.
Loved the food! Highly recommend the fish curry and the tangy pork.
Great wine list too.
Helpful staff.
We had a wonderful experience sitting in the back garden to celebrate my husband's birthday! We look forward to eating there again.
Delicious and authentic Burmese food! Would definitely come again.
There is a lot to love! The food was inconsistent, unfortunately, but the service made up for it.
Expensive and did not get the flavors I was expecting. I cook Burmese food at home and was very disappointed .
Definitely overpriced and food was beyond average. However, service and ambiance were 10/10
Awesome food and service from the staff! Impressed by the quality of the food. Waiters knew the best wine pairings for the chosen dishes which is a great plus point.
Good service. Excellent food. Fair value. Remember to ask for a table in the back garden (where we ate), instead of in the front of the restaurant.
Worth the train ride from Manhattan! Flavors were rich, but not overpowering, and portions just right, all clean preparations. Look forward to coming back to try other dishes!
LOVED Rangoon! I'll be back. The food and the service were amazing, and the two outdoor sections are equally inviting.
This place is a gem - so much so that the very next day all I could think and talk about was this restaurant. The food is perfectly cooked and the ingredients incredibly fresh. The owner came out to speak with us and was so sweet. I pray for this business to survive this plague!
We had a wonderful lunch outside. Very friendly service and delicious tasty food... Try the Orange Wine!!!
Very, very bland “burmese” food. Ambience was great. Shame about the food.
So good! Really great, versatile menu (veg friendly too!), and super friendly staff and service. Our first visit was a few days ago and we can’t wait to return!
