Generally disappointed and we had a super awkward server - who placed sides we didn’t order on our table and came and picked them up about 5 minutes later. Food was fine but not for the price. We really only loved the Brussels sprouts. We wouldn’t go back.
The appetizer and drinks were great , the Chefs special salad was wonderful however the 18 oz ribeye was a total disaster and especially at those prices we were very disappointed. The cauliflower side was terrible.
We should have gone to Ruth’s Chris it’s always top shelf.
Great, even if we were late.
Everything was lackluster from start to finish. Food was mediocre at best.
The salmon was amazing as well as the Bolognese. The shrimp cocktail was less than impressive, very tiny, no presentation, but had decent flavor. The restaurant was empty for a Friday night. The hostess seated us at a two top table, right next to another couple. This would have been fine, but with the restaurant empty, it would have been nice to have been seated at a larger table and a better location, in light of having plenty of room in the restaurant. Our server was very good, which is quite refreshing.
Our Server was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu.
She was attentive and timely. The food was amazing!
Great food, great server (Rudy), but kitchen was apparently overwhelmed. Food took forever to come out. And we had an uncomplicated order. Otherwise great drinks and great wine too.
Orders were wrong and steak so tough it was difficult to eat. Food not the quality I would expect for the price. Would not recommend this restaurant.
Visiting daughter in military
Service was fantastic, food of the best ingredients and very delicious. Quail was out of this world. Great place and great ambiance.
This place was amazing. We were celebrating as newlyweds and gave this place a shot. The food was amazing, the services was perfect and we could not have picked a better place to eat
The wait staff was fantastic. The table-side drinks were a fun experience and the table-side Caesar was great! Steak was cooked perfectly and the surprise ending that came with the bill was a unique experience. Definitely will be back!
I had the burger which would have taste good if it had not been dry and overcooked. I ordered it medium which in other restaurants has a bit of pink. This one was very well-done. The fries appeared to have been fried twice and very crunchy. I like twice-fried fries like they have in Holland but they are a bit more substantial in size. These were the very thin kind. My friend ordered the mushroom soup which was super thick and not a very complex flavor. Overall, I'd say the food was just average, that is good quality ingredients but not prepared well. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. We enjoyed him.
We went to Range for their restaurant week menu. The food and service was just ok. I’m not inspired to return.
The hostess was pretty rude but otherwise service was great. The food was very good, but the prices were astronomical. You can definitely get same quality food for less at other restaurants.
The food was underwhelming. Steak was average but the sides were subpar..both in taste and temperature. Service was lacking for a restaurant attempting to provide a high end experience. Definitely won’t be going back.
A miss! I was excited to try this restaurant, and overall
disappointed! Food was mediocre and very salty. Definitely not worth $350.
Had a great experience at Range during restaurant week!
Food was very good, however, service was a little slow. The Steak Tartare was outstanding! Two in our group had the sirloin and raved over it as well. The real issue for us was the fact that there was one table of four that was extremely loud, to the extent that when they left it felt really peaceful! The acoustics are not great, but the atmosphere is fun. The background music was very eclectic and at times too heavy for our group, we ranged in age from 81 yrs to 23 yrs. Overall it was a good experience. We would recommend it and will return.
Salad and entree were too salty! Desert was delicious!
Went for restaurant week - food was fantastic! Between two people we had the three course meal - salad, steak tartare, salmon, steak, chocolate dessert and lavender creme brûlée. Service was great - timing of food arriving and pace of meal was just right. Offerings we chose for wine and cocktails were on point. Highly recommend!
Good food and service, best of All was the Cotton candy they serve after dinner!
Our waiter was very good and nice. We went there for restaurant week and did the 3 course menu. The main courses were inedible though — incredibly salty. We actually sent a lot of it back. The salads, soup, and desserts were good, but everyone’s main course was extremely over salted. We like to try out different places during restaurant week, but we probably won’t be back because of this.
Table side Cesar with
Gem lettuce ...so yummy fresh
Made for two
Attentive but not overbearing
The salmon was very good as was the Mushroom Bisque. The beef was cooked perfectly but the plating was poor. While the waitress was delightful the support she got from the bar made me down rate this. We ate in the early afternoon and the place was almost empty. We ordered cocktails as soon we sat down that took almost 15 minutes to arrive. The mojito and the Moscow mule showed no evidence of muddling. The wine pairing for the bisque did not show up until the four of us had 1-2 spoonfuls left. Before the main course I mentioned to our server to please be sure the wines came with the food and they did. We had been to the restaurant a couple of years before when it had another owner. I remember the noise level then (during the main rush) was very loud and it does not look like any real changes have been made that would abate that. I may go back when the weather is more temperate and eat on the outdoor patio but the bar experience was very disappointing.
Food was amazing and staff was welcoming with great knowledge of the menu.
They do not miss any detail. Big or small. I am in love with the excellence and culture they have created! 🥰 Food is Devine.
Food was amazing. Price was way outside what we normally spend but it was a special occasion. 5 star all around
Waitress was more interested in talking to table behind us most of the time and paid very little attention to our family. Never brought desert or ticket thus I went to front and paid then left. Poor service
My husband and I have been to Range a few times. However, it seems that each time something is off. For instance, our most recent dining experience neither included bread before the meal nor cotton candy. These two items are customarily part of the dining experience at Range. Nonetheless, the omissions will probably not affect us from going back in the future. We feel some quality control wouldn't hurt the restaurant.
Not white what we expected. Wouldn't have known this was the restaurant of an Iron Chef competitor. Food was very good, but plating was lacking. No dipping sauce served with the fried olives. No bread offered for the table, and when we asked, we got blueberry muffins which was odd for a steakhouse meal. The tableside caesar was nicely prepared but leaned on the salty side. The bacon crusted porkchop was the highlight of the meal - perfectly cooked and lots of flavor. The sirloin needed a sauce to boost the flavor. The potato confit was delicious but only a small amount of crema was included in the bottom of the bowl - not nearly enough to flavor the potatoes. The mud pie for dessert was deconstructed and quite lackluster - would have been better in its constructed form. The wall that our table was against was dirty and needed cleaning or repainting. Maybe adding an old favorite or two from the prior Bin 555 menu would help keep focus on the creativity. Would eat there again, with different expectations.
Steak tartare A+
Table side Caesar B-
Tomahawk steak that 3 of us shared B
The table side Caesar missed the mark as far as a classic Caesar goes. Way too oily
Steak just didn’t have the flavor I expected but was cooked to a good medium rare as ordered
We did have a nice time and would go back, but order a little differently.
We had a prix fixe surf and turf menu that was great. Food was great!!
Better than expected
We came at noon on Sunday before a show at the majestic. Our food was so salty that it was inedible. Even the salad was over salted and the steak and the salmon and the asparagus were so salty that we tried scraping it off but nothing helped. I rarely get food that is this bad. The waiter was fine and he noted that the only other table occupied at the time complained about it as well.
He gave us one of the two lunch meals for free but I would rather have paid full price for something I enjoyed.
Amazing experience from food to service. The steak was cooked perfectly and the table side prepared Caesar’s Salad was one of the best I’ve ever had.
Range Restaurant is always good. Our salads were fresh and delightful. The mushroom bisque was delicious! We really enjoyed the hush puppies! The complimentary cotton candy is always a fun treat! Our server was attentive and professional.
Gabe was a delightful server and took very good care of us. I am a repeat customer but it was the first time at a Jason Dady restaurant for some of my family. The variety in the menu satisfied the carnivores and vegetarian alike. I delight in introducing friends and family to San Antonio culinary scene, in particular Jason's restaurants.
Understaffed at 1pm for lunch and over an hour wait for our food.
