The people, food and surroundings were all excellent. Would recommend..
Staff was lovely, ambiance was chill, my mom and I had a pleasant lunch.
Great location. Wonderful place for drinks and dinner in the center of the action. We will be there again when we visit the city.
Service was not what you would expect for the price. Took a long time, waiter never came back to check on us, even the bill took forever to get there. Food was flat for flavor. It was just okay for the price. We definitely wouldn't go back with all the other options in the area. Music was good but a little too loud. The only table that could accommodate our party was next to the door. It was freezing every time someone came in or out. So windy it blew menus off the table and blew out our candles. After a few times of re-lighting they were just left not burning. And then when we get the bill, due to the size of our party the tip was pre-populated. Perhaps that's why the service was so bad...
Would not recommend.
Difficult to find a reasonable parking close by, service and food are ok
Pleasantly surprised with the varied selections of appetizers and entrees. Seafood Risotto and Marguerite pizza were delicious. We’d like to come back again when we have more room for dessert.
Went there for business brunch. Our table was small but quiet. Service was great and food was excellent.
Fun atmosphere
Very average experience
Small selection of delicious plates! Would recommend to share, portions are big enough for two. Service was wonderful - knowledgeable and prompt. Went here before catching a play at SF Playhouse.
Yes, the food was great...but the service was what made it an experience. Daniel and Adam are AMAZING! I enjoyed everything they put in front of me - ranging from poke to beans to burgers to dessert and more! Innovative takes on food....special, personalized service. EVERYONE SHOULD GO HERE!
Delicious dinner and the cocktails were top notch. Try the Ramble On! Our waiter was attentive and the ambiance downstairs was nice. One small complaint - the music was uneven. Mostly classics at a nice volume, but then the volume would occasionally surge unexpectedly to an uncomfortable volume to hear one another.
Great low key environment and friendly wait staff. Loved the food.
Excellent service and a comfortable evening of talking with good food. It isn't a foodie place but somewhere to go with friends and enjoy a dinner and an evening of conversation.
Food sounded better on the menu. Had the fried chicken Benedict. Came to the table at room temp, eggs were overcooked, chicken overcooked, and barely and sauce. Wouldn’t go back.
Enjoyable, reasonable for SF, just amused when they seated us and the rest of the older, uncool folks downstairs. It's much more hip and sophisticated upstairs. Probably louder too, so perhaps they were just doing us a favor.
Great location for a meal before a show! Nice variety in the menu! Great bar!
Food was good. We felt a bit forgotten by our waiter / which made our overall impression not worth the money.
Delicious food in brick warehouse style building....wonderful
The food was good but the service not. We made 2 requests: that we had to leave by 7 which was more than an hour from then) and that we wanted the salmon medium-well. Neither one was accommodated. We at the cooked parts of the salmon and left the rest. We had to ask for the check twice and finally got out of there at 7:05. We won't be back.
Fun place. Lively and loud. Food was good. Service was on the slow side. We would have ordered dessert but didn't have time due to lack of attention from waiter. We had to finally flag down someone to bring us the check after sitting and waiting for a bit after finishing our meal.
Food and service here were excellent. I thought $17 for a glass of white wine was pretty excessive, however. My biggest complaint was the deafening noise level - mostly due to the pounding trance music. Folks next to us had to shout to hear each other so the noise level was quite high. I had a pounding headache by the time we left.
Food was very expensive.
The ambiance and service were great. Unfortunately the food was only okay (I found my pizza bordering inedible), especially compared to the price. Drinks were better than the food, but you can find better food and drinks at a similar price point in a lot of restaurants in the area (and throughout sf).
Great service. Great food. Great ambiance. We were celebrating a birthday and each of us ordered something different, everything was great. Our server was fantastic- she went out of her way for our entire meal to ensure we had the best possible experience. Would recommend to anyone.
So good! A little pricey for the portion sizes, but delicious and aesthetically pleasing!
Good food, good vibe. Tuna tar tar was delicious as was the chorizo pizza.
We came in for my birthday yesterday and the waiter made the evening as lackluster as possible -- had no greeting, no "have you been here before?" or "are we celebrating" even though the reservation specified it was a birthday. Just "do you know what you want?" followed by long gaps in service and waiting 20 min for drink orders. As others have mentioned, the tables right by the front door are freezing cold with every burst of wind that comes from patrons entering and exiting. For a $95/person dinner, I like to think that servers have built up to this price point by working on their customer service; Instead, I actually felt like I was ruining his night just by checking in on us. Food was good but the service (and outdated interiors) made the night a let down.
Went for Brunch , seated downstairs , fine for a hotel breakfast , but we were looking for more of an experience. Our waitress was nice but beyond clueless.
Great service and very cool ambience. Food was also very good and the wines were excelent.
My two friends and I came here for a girls night out dinner before a show. We were looking for a place to eat a nice meal and The Rambler did not disappoint. All our meals were delicious. And our server was so helpful and friendly. Five stars. Recommend and would definitely return!
The food was tasty. The service was nice. I would go back.
Cena de navidad con familia
Location was good for our annual trip to Union Square. Food was just ok. Comments from others included: Steel cut oatmeal was very good , Chicken-and waffles was ok. Something in the dish was very Spicey and it was not a balanced taste. Fries- below average, sausage and omelet were tasteless. Employees were nice and the atmosphere was cozy .
We came here between the 2 Harry Potter plays. Service was excellent and the food was really tasty as well. We ate downstairs and it is a chic little gem in the hotel.
I had made a reservation at least a week before our desired date. When we arrived, the restaurant was almost empty, but the hostess seated us at a four-top right by the front door which was freezing. I asked her for another table. She said we would have to wait 15 minutes. I explained to her that I was very upset because we had a reservation, and obviously there was room in the restaurant. She just turned away and left the table. About 10 minutes later she came back and moved us to a better table with no apology and no comment. The waiter was inattentive and, though there were only 4 to 6 other diners in the restaurant and maybe another 4 to 5 people at the bar, it took us 15 minutes to get our drinks. The food was mediocre at best. Almost every dish had garlic powder added to it. This is not fine dining! The chef Was lounging around and appeared to have learned these recipes by rote. There were no substitutions or changes allowed. There was no “cheffing” at all. This was such a disappointment on a special occasion. We will never go back.
Theatre show
We went for brunch. Neither the coffee or the food was hot enough.
Outstanding, all the way around!
It's so great to see the old Postrio location redone as Rambler which delivered great service, drinks, appetizers, & mains!
