Food was excellent, service very good, first time eating here. Definitely would come back and will tell friends to eat here too.

It's all about the red-gravy comfort food at this South Philly, old-line place. Bustling but reasonably comfortable place, with really top-shelf food. Nothing fancy, just excellent, straight-ahead red gravy treats. Mussels are extraordinary, as is the veal parm. One (minor) area for improvement: the bread, which is free-flowing and plentiful, could use an upgrade. But overall, the go-to place in South Philly for southern Italian homestyle cooking. And Loren (Lauren?), the hostess-waitress, is a real character and a pleasure to be around.

My friends and I have been going to Ralph’s after the walnut Street Theater. There are usually four or five of us, but this time we were just two.
The last time we were there I had the escargot and they were wonderful. The last time it was in garlic butter and was a large portion. This time there was half the size of the order and the flavor was overpowered by lemon and some kind of strong cheese. I hate to complain so I said nothing. For main course I ordered eggplant parmigiana and it came out really burnt! The hostess asked if everything was okay and saw that it was burned and offered to make a new one. I chose instead to replace it with an Antipasto which turned out to be good.
My friend’s dinner was equally disappointing. I have always sent favorable reviews but now we are considering not returning to Ralph’s unfortunately

Food was fantastic! Veal and chicken parm so tender along with delicious bread. Only drawback was they told us there was no lunch menu so the veal went from $16 to $ 26! I don't know if that is their weekend policy or what but drove our bill up

The only negative was that we went in for lunch but only the dinner menu was offered, for some reason. Made the meal a little $ for lunch, but the food was very good, as always.

This restaurant came highly recommended as "authentic". It was not as good as we had been led to believe. The positives: there is some 'neighborhood' atmosphere. Salad was fresh and pretty good. Eggplant Parmesan was excellent. The negatives: Linguine was not al dente. Bread was mediocre. Red sauce was just OK, tasted like it had no herbs, not much garlic, no depth of flavor. Isn't that supposed to be awesome in an Italian restaurant? I give it a "B" to be generous, but no more than that.

We had been two years ago and were wowed by every bite of food. This time it was meh. The calamari was terrible. We were told that it was sautéed when we ordered. We were fine with that. It came out like it was boiled in a fishy red sauce. I tasted no red (tomato) just fish. My daughter was looking forward to the Alfredo. Came out almost sauceless. She was disappointed. I had the pasta with seafood (red). Not enough red, again not enough sauce, and I thought the shellfish was over cooked. Didn’t complain. It wasn’t awful, just didn’t live up to Ralph’s reputation, in my opinion.

Ralph's tends to be very crowded at certain times, such as Saturday nights, but if you pick a good time you will have a delightful dining experience. Their eggplant parmigiana is out of this world and all the food offerings taste authentic. This is one of my favorite places to dine.

so disappointed with this place!!! beautiful restaurant but food sucked. my friends gnocchi was dense and chicken in her dish was is square chunks. my chicken parm was burnt and cold plus spaghetti was cold ! sauce was like store bought jar sauce. we took dessert home and the bag had wrong dessert, cannoli instead of cannoli cake... to make it worst the cannoli shell was burnt!!! dark brown shell. nothing good to say

Had not been to Ralph's in quite a while and wanted to take my son and friends there for lunch. Reserved a 2:00pm table on a Saturday. Was told when I got there that the lunch menu was not available, and was handed a dinner menu. While everything we ordered was good, it cost twice what I had planned to spend. By the way, cash only. Fortunately I keep some spare cash in my wallet so was able to cover the hefty tab.

Hostess was great. Attentive and kind. Server had no business working with the public. Truly the worst attitude server I have had in 40 years. However, the food was good enough that I would return for another meal.

Ralphs is an amazing restaurant. We just had an unfriendly waiter. He seemed miserable. I asked him for 1 thing bring me the bill. He said sure no problem. Then he brought the Bill to another person at the table. I normally have a great experience at Ralphs but this waiter was rude and miserable.
