The Raleigh Room is the perfect mix of old world and new, a re-imagined social space that nods to the traditions of our grand historic hotel. We've melded modern style and Southern gentility into a new interpretation of the Grand Salon. Relax with a coffee in the morning, or enjoy a traditional afternoon tea Saturday and Sunday from 1pm-2pm. Meet for proper cocktails in the evening when the salon transforms into the social heart of the hotel with live entertainment nightly. With its classic, yet contemporary decor, the Raleigh Room is the quintessential Southern lounge reinvented for guests who embrace the good life. Surrounding the Raleigh Room, our verandas provide an intimate retreat that overlook our stunning estate. Garden-style furnishings, lanterns and rolling planters bring the hotel's gardens indoors as a verdant frame for the Raleigh Room.
Great experience as always! ❤️
Absolutely loved high tea at the Raleigh Room! Since we can’t currently travel, it felt like a mini vacation to London. Will be back!
Afternoon tea in the Raleigh Room was a pleasant surprise with personable staff and delicious treats served with the tea! Definitely will go again
The high tea was bit pricey for what you get. But nice experience.
A group of friends and I decided to treat ourselves to High Tea, as we have never experienced one before. While the tea, finger sandwiches, service could have been improved--especially for the cost. The Doorman, Robert, saved our experience, though. He gave us a tour around the Cavalier Hotel & provided great insight & history. Unfortunately, we will be exploring other options for High Tea, as it didn't match the Cavalier Hotel ambiance.
We had a lovely afternoon tea in the Raleigh Room. The food was delicious and the ambience was wonderful. We would love to return for afternoon tea again.
Wonderful High Team time in the Raleigh room!
We enjoyed our experience at tea time. Our server, Bailey, was very attentive and polite which added to our time at the Raleigh Room.
Ambiance of the Raleigh Room as everywhere in the Cavalier Hotel was beautiful and elegant. The Tea was lovely and delicious but the service wasn’t quite up to par. Our server did not ask if we’d like more tea. We did receive a second cup, but only after asking for it. The server did not return to our table after bringing us a second cup of tea until we received the bill from her. With her service lacking in effort and friendliness, we found the high tip included on the bill simply not justified.
Had a lovely tea time at the Raleigh room. The setting was nice but it would have been nicer if they seated us in less cold corner of the room, the tea went cold too fast. The tea food was nice but the cakes in general were too sweet and tastes like sugar. They could do a little better with the pastries.
My mother-in-law treated me to Afternoon Tea in the Raleigh Room for my birthday! We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the selection of finger sandwiches, sweets, and tea. The ambiance and service were also excellent! We look forward to having Afternoon Tea at the Cavalier again in the future!
Bid on a progressive dinner at auction and decided to get family together on the anniversary of my daughters passing
A group of my friends and I had High Tea in the Raleigh Room and it was superb. We loved the tea and the food and the ambiance of the room was excellent. We will definitely be back.
I went for a mother daughter tea date. My little one didnt even touch most of the food. Wish there was a no charge policy. Went more for the experience. I wouldn't recommend it for kids. My daughter is 6years old and feel way overcharge for just me eating and drinking tea. They state 38 per person which excludes taxes and their own self automatic tip. But to charge full price for a child that didn't even touch anything is ridiculous.
Hamburgers were delicious, wine was very good. Was told we would have a certain table for our party of ten but that didn’t happen and we were at two tables but near each other.
We went here for afternoon tea. The hotel and surroundings are gorgeous and you get a good value for what you get. They don’t use loose leaf tea and the scones are small and only ok. The desserts were divine! Definitely a good tea, but not the best.
Food and service were awesome. We will definitely return for the high tea experience again soon!
I don't know if we went on an off Saturday or what, but the tea is basically in the hotel bar area...it was incredibly crowded and they had 3 servers trying to serve a full house plus assisting people coming up to the bar to order drinks. The food was alright, but nothing to get overly excited about. I have been to tea at other hotels in the area (Richmond, D.C.) and I'd rather travel to those locations as I feel like the afternoon teas at those hotels you get a lot more "bang for your buck."
Afternoon tea was fun and enjoyable. The Raleigh Room is beautiful and the tea and food were delicious. The service was a little slow; hardly anyone checked on us and we had to ask multiple times for a check. Will be going back again!
I really enjoyed my experience at the Raleigh Room. I have already convinced a coworker to take their mother there for tea. My only disappointment was I wish there could have been more savory foods. Specifically more sandwiches to balance out the sweets.
A fun and fancy experience. We had a tea party for my moms birthday and very much enjoyed the experience. I feel it’s a little over-priced, but would do it again for a celebration regardless.
Christmas Tea, three generations. Dec 28
My daughter and I attend teas 3-4 times a year at other locations and this was by far the worst experience we have ever had. Our waitress came three times total. They were out of the tea we spent ten minutes deciding on. She should have told us that at the beginning. They were actually out of 3 or 4 of the things listed on the menu. The tea she brought was cold. She came back with the food and then we did not see her again for one hour. I literally had to walk around to look for her to pay. They add your gratuity on automatically (for two) which I think makes a big difference in the service they provide. They really missed the mark. Super disappointed
Holiday Tea with Santa was misleading. I made mistake of bringing 3 1/2 and 5 1/2 year old grandchildren. Santa was lovely, but the tea was clearly for adults. Could have managed at seating difficult for children, but I had to hunt down a waitress to order and we were there for almost an hour before tea was served with very few kid appropriate offerings. By then children had lost interest. So a very expensive lesson ($50 per person)
A wonderful afternoon with friends. The Cavalier looks beautiful with all the renovations
Wonderful experience! Highly recommend! The service was impeccable. Everyone was friendly. The whole experience was lovely.
We had delicious tea (I had the signature blend) and a tasty assortment of tea sandwiches and desserts. They were able to accommodate my vegan sister, which was appreciated. We had three employees attending to us, so we were well taken care of without being intrusive. One waitress was kind to give each of us a self-guided tour pamphlet to peruse (or skim). After tea we were already planning for what occasion we would return.
It was a uniques lovely experience. We enjoy it tremendously!
We had a group of 13 ladies there for Afternoon High Tea on Sunday afternoon to celebrate my birthday. It was a magical experience! Our table was on the Raleigh Room porch and was open air - we were fortunate to have amazing weather. It was an absolutely beautiful setting, & the food was delicious. We each got a complimentary glass of champagne or cider in addition to a full pot of tea for each of us. You get to choose from at least eight types of tea at the beginning. I highly recommend afternoon tea in the Raleigh Room!
My third time at tea in the Raleigh Room. It is a relaxing step back in time for conversation and nibbling on a generous selection of delicious treats in a very comfortable lounge rather than dining room setting. I come away mellow and satiated - it is a great respite from everyday life.
I called five times to make a modification on my reservation and no one returned my call. I asked for a candle for the birthday tea ahead of time and nothing was done. My child celebrated 16th birthday without blowing any candles
We went for the afternoon tea. The tea, food, and atmosphere were great but the service was aweful! Our waitress was rude and incredibly slow. Once she delivered our tea and snacks she never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything else for over an hour and then messed up our check and took 45 minutes to fix it! Would not recommend this for the price with that level of service.
Gorgeous, comfortable, quiet atmosphere. The curry chicken croissants were delicious. The peanut butter and jam mini tart was creative. However, the scones and other items were quite ordinary. The tea was good, not exceptional compared with the surroundings.
Celebrating our engagement just moments before on the beach!
We had the best afternoon!! The food was delicious, the Raleigh Room is stunning, and so relaxing, I will definitely return. The one any only critique is the cost for the value. You get one glass of champagne complimentary, and tea, and then a few finger foods... it was around $38 per person (and then they add 20% gratuity) but I felt like $25 per person would have still given them a great profit on what they were serving. Overall it's a great experience though and makes for a fun event!
Was expecting a more elegant experience. Overall it was meh.
The Cavalier hotel is beautiful and the Raleigh Room is a really nice setting for the afternoon tea. The food was very good. A couple of issues with the service:
1. I had informed the hotel in advance that I was vegetarian but they were not prepared and instead replaced the sandwiches with a small salad. I think a salad is a really lazy/ weak replacement for a hotel that prides itself on good services. With ample advanced notice, I think vegetarian sandwiches would not have been hard to make.
2. When I asked if my pot of tea could be filled up (ie. add hot water) the server said she had to check!! Again, if you market yourself as upscale, refilling a pot of tea should not have been an issue.
3. They sat us opposite another couple around a coffee table, which was a bit unusual. We didn't have much privacy and we could hear the other couple's conversation.
4. The service was not great - a lot of the servers seemed to be young students. This is fine, but you need to train them better.
mykalah was a wonderful server. the food was outstanding. I had tea outside until the rain started. that was no ones fault. I will be back and sit outside again.
Pricey (as expected) but overall a wonderful afternoon event. Like stepping back in time with the decor and music. Not many people there so we felt like we could take our time. Staff was attentive and helpful. Food was good, rich flavors. We got about 12 items of food each along with a personal teapot and a glass of sparkling wine. I was actually very full leaving here. Valet was amazing as well
I took my sister for high tea and was happy with some aspects of the experience, but overall, thought the tea was very overpriced for what you got. We spent over $100 (including tip, the service was very good) but left hungry.
