Raisu Japanese Fine Dining - Chicago
Beautiful presentation. Great food. Will go again!
When we arrived on time for our 7:30 reservation, all tables were full or “reserved” and we were told by the hostess that we would have to wait 30 minutes because all of the other tables had been seated at 7. We ended up waiting almost an hour when a “reserved” table was opened up.
The waiter did comp us 2 drinks and was very hospitable. The sushi is great.
Amazing sushi chef; hands down the best sushi I’ve had in Chicago. Can’t wait to go back.
Overpriced, sashimi was not fresh. Extremely slow , not very good service. I think the yelp reviews are fake. Will not go back again.
The food and service were wonderful. The menu is plentiful and the food presentations are beautiful.
I went there with my husband for date night. Great neighborhood spot. I’m also pregnant and i should pretty much stay away from sushi, but our waiter gave me some delicious safe recommendations.
Wow. This place has fast become our go to for fine Japanese ... did an Omakasi and was absolutely floored by the quality, the cut, and the flavor - let alone an outstanding presentation loving served. Perfect all around.
Great food and service try the flaming specialty roll it is very good!
Great food and service. Will return.
It is our favorite sushi place in the neighborhood. Fish is always fresh and delicious, presentation is like a piece of art and the people there are so friendly and accommodating! We always leave full and happy! I highly recommend!!
Love this sushi! Our favorite in Chicago! Make sure to try the special nigiris! Our favorites are the scallop salad, the DDR squid and any and all nigiri and rolls! We love this place!
We ordered the omakase- multi course chef choice. It was FANTASTIC! Tasty seafood soup, deliciously fresh scallops, and a variety of fresh and artfully presented nigiri. The white tuna was a favorite and the hamachi with jalapeño accent. Everything was so stunning. The waygu beef was like butter and strawberry mochi such a perfect finale. Nicole, our server, was so sweet! Great experience and felt very safe with covid procedures being followed:)
Alex took care of us and did an amazing job! Recommend
The quality of the fish in my sushi was gamey and tough. I did not like the options on the menu - usually I defer to a chef's choice nigiri/sashimi plate, which ensures the finest and freshest fish is used, but that was not offered. Also, the ample use of mayonnaise in their dishes is enough to ruin an appetite. Good, quality sushi should never require condiments beyond ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi.
Fresh, delicious creative rolls. Good wine list. Everything was perfect!
Raisu is a beautiful Japanese restaurant! The sashimi is very fresh and the cold tastings are great. I love the hamachi with grapefruit and sake. We have dined here many times and Raisu always delivers delicious and artistic dishes.
The service is always excellent!
Sushi itself and the Maki rolls are the best. Really the best I have ever had. We had the tuna tartar to start and that was just average. And the octopus appetizer was rubbery and to be honest we should have sent it back. But go for the sushi and the rolls. Outstanding.
All dishes we had were good or great. I will go back to Raisu. Everything was made to order.
The odd thing is that they call themselves Fine Dining, when no fine dining restaurant includes that in their name. Plus Raisu is less expensive than high end restaurants. The bathrooms are not fine dining level. But the service is up there with fine dining.
The food was outstanding, I enjoyed everything that was created by the chef. He also prepared foods that I never would have tried on my own.
Wonderful offering for restaurant week full of items we probably would not have ordered. Will definitely be back
Pricey, but some of the best sushi I've had in Chicago. Expect to pay 100-150 per person.
Very good sushi excellence service
Restaurant was warmly decorated, comfortable seating. However it was pretty cold inside, but adding a winter door would help. Sushi was overall delicious, though the more simple maki roles were on the small side. Service overall was excellent and staff were attentive without appearing overbearing.
Excellent, caring service combined with innovative dishes
VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE. Have been there over four times. And I always go with the omakase. This is one of my favorite sushi place in Chicago. And not crowded, quiet environment to enjoy different kinds of nigiri.
One of the best sushi experiences to be had in Chicago. Truly delicious and wonderful service.
The food is super fresh (flown in daily I believe) and everyone who works there is fantastic. The chefs are experts and a blast to watch. I love all of their sashimi and my fave roll is the inferno dragon - its fire! it literally comes out on fire)
Pricey menu, however the food is fantastic and the fish is so so so fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes really quality sashimi. The rolls were packed with fish and not fillings and the staff was very kind and attentive to every request.
Excellent service and wonderful ambiance
Way too rushed! Server was constantly coming to us and it was very pushy. Food was not very flavorful aside from the sashimi and overpriced. And my daughter and I woke up with stomach ales. Way better options in the city.
There’s nothing special for a birthday, and the waitress is kinda nerdy...
Overall the food are fresh tasted, worthy a try
Didn’t get the same value as advertised, food was Okay. Personally will not visit again.
Every time I eat here I always say “I need to come more often!” Such good and fresh sushi. Just superb all around.
The Omekase was a great experience. Will definió be back to order off the menu.
Delicious omakase. Would’ve liked to have known the price up front though.
Went to the restaurant for a special occasion and definitely were not disappointed. The service was impeccable and the food was fresh, interesting and tasty. We ordered the chef's choice menu and it was truly an adventure of flavors. It was served at a perfect pace so we did not feel rushed nor were we waiting around for the next course. It was expensive, but worth it. We are going to return and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes sushi.
This place is a hidden sushi gem. Fresh fish from Japan, creative menu, amazing service. My husband and I can't wait to go back and are so excited to have this on the north side. Location is a bit odd but don't let that deter you if you are a sushi connoisseur.
Nice food, creatively served in area where not so many options
We did the Omakase and it was fantastic. The fish tasted fresh. The server was always there if needed. I can’t wait to go back.
