Raised by Wolves

Fun atmosphere with great drinks! No food so eat before:)
I love Raised by Wolves. The first time I went there it was when they first opened and I chose to go there because I saw a friend had posted a picture of the ambiance and I loved it. It was a quiet and lovely experience that time. And my second time now going almost a year later, was lovely as well. This time, they had an event going on so it was very filled with people which was cool to see in comparison to it not being busy the first time I went which was probably only because it wasn’t the weekend. The hostesses were very nice and friendly. The only negative was that one of the drinks I think called “Pelvic ...” something (I can’t remeber), my friend did not enjoy because it was filled with crushed ice and inside a glass that made it impossible to drink through the straw that was given. Lol he wished it came in a different fashion because the only way he was able to drink it was if he poured ice into his mouth and he hates ice, but honestly that’s just being picky lol. Absolutely love this place and I recommend it to anyone who loves speakeasies, nice drinks at a reasonable cost, lovely atmosphere and music.
The service was a little slow in the wait staff doesn't know anything about authentic cocktails. However, the actual cocktails were very well done by the mixologists. The selection of whiskeys and Gins is very limited for this type of bar. The revolving wall with which you enter the bar is incredible. Hopefully this far will grow and improve, with better selection and higher quality fresh mixers. An absolute must is a list of the spirits that are available to make your cocktail.
First off, you have to rate "food" in order to post a review. this is a straight up craft cocktail bar. No food. However, if you're a cocktail geek, this is the place to go. amazing drink menu (they do have beer and wine, but why would you?). you enter through the very hifg end spirirts storefront. youre then seated in two vinatge chairs in front of a "fireplace" then the floor spins and you're now in the bar, which is beatiful. one of those things you have to experience for yourself. Worth the drive to La Jolla.
No food or appetizers served there which was a bummer. They should have crackers, nuts or something. Drinks tasted watered down. Don’t order prosecco, it’s a really small drink! We had reservations but didn’t get seated almost an hour later. They were letting walk ins go in before us which made us pretty annoyed. Front staff was really unorganized and scattered. Ambience was cool but I doubt I’ll go back again. It was meh.
Interesting place and unique entry. Reservation preferable. Unique drinks but pricy. We were disappointed that there was no food. Fun place to try.
The experience was fun, the atmosphere outstanding. They really need to offer some type of snack. Pretzels, nuts, anything would make people stay longer... although I realize they are making their money from drinks. The drink menu is interesting and offers a wonderful variety with reasonable prices.
I feel like there could be something more to this speakeasy destination bar experience... absinthe fountain, possibly add music from the speakeasy era, possibly add another secret entrance, an occasional entertainer of some type. It's a wonderful concept that will evolve over time, I am guessing.
Raised by Wolves is truly as unique as it gets! From the moment you walk in, your greater by friendly staff & the Revolving Fireplace entrance is the perfect touch! The bar has beautiful decor. To me, it felt like a mysterious ambience. The drinks were wonderful & beautifuly presented!! We needed something unique & creative with an old school touch here in San Diego. The only thing I was disappointed in was the way some guests were dressed. Some looked as if they just came from the beach with board shorts, messy hair & flip flops. C’mon people.. get into the habit of dressing respectfuly to the places your going too!
A special find in a most unusual setting. Definitely, sold by word of mouth only. a real gem. But, there is absolutely NO FOOD
Excelente lugar para tomar tragos de verdadera mixología, un lugar especial y muy original. La pasamos excelente. La experiencia empieza desde al forma en como entras a la barra por medio de una chimenea giratoria.
Food has 1 star because they do not serve food. Awesome atmosphere of an old whiskey den
A+ for customer service. My date and I got lost in the mall trying to look for the place so we had lost our reservation but, I gave them a call and they still managed to get us seated as soon as we walked in. I didn't get the gentleman's name who answered the phone/directed us to the front of the line but he had blonde slicked back hair, he deserves a shout out! Thank you, will be coming back soon.
Place is amazingly designed but the UTC crowd doesn't fit with the decor. Shorts, flip-flops and the overall slovenly appearance of the guests seems to run counter to the uniqueness and quality of the design. Beautiful concept wasted by the limitations of the mall...
Great drinks and very interesting interior perfect for after work drinks or grabbing drinks with friends
good drinks and the bar is cool
no food at all
not even peanuts
I enjoyed the two times I've been to this bar. Love the energy and the decor. I've had a total of five drinks and they were all delicious. I'll be returning for sure to try other ones.
I like this place! Unfortunately the air conditioning was out so it was uncomfortable but not their fault. They took a percentage off our bill because of it. The billing was quite strand as they charged us the full bill on 2 cards and it took a long time to fix it. A few kinks to work out with service but great drinks and kind staff:).
The air conditioning was out but the staff was working hard to help everyone feel as comfortable and welcome as possible.
The AC was either not on or working. It was so hot, every table and waiter was fanning themselves to keep cool.
We were two ladies celebrating our birthdays the same day - not that it mattered to the hostess or waiter. So don’t expect special service if you go on a special occasion.
It took a long time to order drinks. The ambiance was ok. Nice decor, but that’s about it. I don’t plan on returning but one should go there at least once.
Pretty great overall except we were let in and were forgotten by the wait staff who promised to show us to our table once it opened up. Then, when we were given a table, the same staff came back 10 minutes later and told us they had to move us to another table to make room for a larger party.
This is our 2nd time at Raised by Wolves. We really liked it the first time so we decided to go back for my birthday. Even though I mentioned in the reservation that it was my birthday celebration and my ID was checked upon arrival, no one recognized my birthday the entire time. Our waitress was very nice but she kept forgetting to refill our water even after we asked her twice. I love the ambiance and all but this visit was a bit disappointing.
Raised by Wolves is a terrific bar concept which, for all its amazingly fun and inventiveness, falls short of being a place we would return because there is not a bit of food offered. It is difficult to spend any time there as drinking without a handful of nuts, pretzels or other munchable item is just not pleasant. Hope they can modify that aspect of their approach or this could turn out to be a "visit it one time" venue.
Really nice place to hang out and chill with friends. Always make a reservation in advance because it gets full quick. Drinks were pretty good, I personally liked the twilight samurai. Would come back definitely
We ordered our drinks and waited and waited. Then a waiter came by and said he was going to check on the drinks. He came back with a tray full of drinks for a nearby table which he accidentally spilled all over a guest at the next table. I don't blame him as accidents happen, but after patiently waiting for him to clean it up, we waited another ten minutes and decided to leave. So needless to say I didn't get to try a Trap Queen which I was very much looking forward to!
Super trendy spot but is a fun place! Just drinks, but they’re served in unique and cool ways. A tad pricey but it’s a great experience. Definitely recommend reservations!
Such a great and cool place. Wish the turntable door was working though
The hidden door (spinning fireplace) was inoperable so we were ushered in through a service entrance. Not quite the overall experience we were looking forward too. Service was extremely SLOW! Did not get served for 20 minutes once we were seated.
Brought my friends here for their first time. Ambiance did not disappoint, but service did. We waited and waited for water and then waited and waited for our drinks. They seemed to be understaffed and disconnected. Entrance was not working for the 2nd time that I have been there. Disappointing...
Great for after work drinks. Very popular on weekends, so a reservation is key. They also serve no food; cocktails only, hence the 2 star rating, just because there's literally nothing to rate. But from the hosts outside to the service inside, it is a great place for a grown folks evening out. Nice, diverse, professional crowd.
Great place for drinks! They were reasonably priced with lots of choices. The decor was spectacular and fun to look at. The only issue we had was that no one told us it was last call. A new waitress even came to us and said she was taking over. It was around 1130p when we asked about more drinks and they said they weren’t serving anymore.. kinda annoying we weren’t given a heads up. There were still quite a few people left at the bar too. We ended up staying for another 40min.. totally could have been served another drink. Oh well.
We arrived on time for our reservation, a party of 5 people. We checked in and the hostess told us to wait over by the revolving fireplace. A while later the same hostess comes over and asks have we checked in! When we clarified we had she said she had mistakenly seated a walk in group. So us, with a reservation, was then lead through a normal entrance door because the revolving door was working (disappointing) we then lead to a smaller table we had to squash into. 1 extra chair was found and we were told "you will be ok". (We had to find a second extra chair ourselves so we could all fit.) Then when our orders were taken, after some sass from the waitress as one person kept ordering different to the rest of the group, we waited and watched for 30mins+ after our beers had been poured and put on the bar for our waitress to serve us! Not a pleasant experience!
Drinks took way too long, ambience did not rise above the noise and dismissive staff
This place was amazing. From the decor to the service and most importantly the drinks. I recommend getting the "Kentucky Buck" it's a strawberry whiskey mule . Once you had one you cant help but wanting to order more. The only sad part was the rotating door was out of service. I seen that from the liquor shop you enter on a rotating platform which takes you from the liquor store to the bar. Other than that I give this place a two BIG thumbs up.
Good drinks, great layout. Only issue was it was very hot minimal AC so it was difficult to be able to relax and have fun.
The decor was really cool and the drinks were great. It was kind of hot in there. When we asked to have the ac turned on they complied, but it didn't really help much. Overall though, we would go back.
Nice ambience and attentive servers. We had a lovely evening!
No food is served so I couldn’t rate that.
We were very disappointed that the revolving entrance was not working. Entry by a side exit door did not add to the "fun" of the experience. We had a reservation to get a table. Showed 10 minutes early. Stood outside with those who had no reservation. 3 of those groups were escorted in before we were. Had no table available. Sat at bar instead. No backs on the bar stools. Luckily were there for a drink only before dinner elsewhere so didn't stay long. Service was good by our bartender, though.
We had a wonderful dinner in such beautiful surroundings .
You forget you are at the Mall and feel like you are in SF or some other cool city. Great menu with lots of options. Brandt beef is always a go to but the salads were well done also. We love a wedge salad but never crazy about the presentation but they offer the wedge chopped and served with just the right amount of blue cheese. Don’t miss the shrimp with prosciutto on risotto as a starter to share, terrific!
Damian was our waiter and he was so friendly, warm and gave us the perfect advice on what to order. We really enjoyed him
Look forward to bringing friends as it is a great spot for dinner!
