Rainforest Cafe - Chicago Woodfield
**We are keeping the adventure going during some mall construction, please use alternate mall entrances.**
We had 5:30 reservations and didn’t sit until 5:50 and the place was empty! Server started out good- she was nice- but she got busy with a big party and totally neglected us. Not sure it was intentional I think she was just in the weeds. Food was just ok.
The atmosphere was wonderful and the food was delicious. But it was quite expensive, and the service was bad. Even though there were only a few other families there at that time, we had to wait about 5 minutes to be greeted, then it took a long time for the waiter to come over, and then he didn’t come by very often. And when they sang Happy Birthday to other families, they really didn’t smile and didn’t seem very enthusiastic.
We loved it and had a great experience! Very enjoyable for our family and all the kids!
A little expensive for the service. Our young children loved the overall experience.
Great place for kids! Menu options are limited and a bit pricey, but you go there for the. experience.
Food is surprisingly good and kids love the decor and attractions. But servers try to up sell you on everything. The beer they recommend comes with a souvenir glass you don’t need and costs extra. They recommended same type of specialty drinks for kids not mentioning cost. Push the highest price appetizers and entrees relentlessly. Badger you constantly to join restaurant club card with $25 fee. It just is too much pushing and takes away from the enjoyment
Bathroom was horrendous.
Went there with our two young granddaughters. Our food was good. The children's menu items were pretty tasty. The macaroni and cheese was real good. The chicken was not what we expected for a child though. We thought it was going to be a breast patty but it turned out to be a rotisserie style chicken breast with a wing attached. Very good flavor but probably not the best for a child since they mostly like tenders or something like that. Our waiter was very good.
The check-in process is cumbersome at best. Even for Landry Club members like myself. The service is slow, and the restaurant was not full - many open tables in view, yet we were still made to wait 20 minutes for our reservation. And we waiting quite some time for our food. I don't understand it. Were they short-staffed in the dining room, or the kitchen? Don't know, they didn't say.
The food is tasty still, but prices still a bit high.
When we arrived we were told it would be an 1 hour, 45 minute wait. I told them OpenTable said there was openings within in 1 hour 30 minutes so I just used OpenTable. I didn't really want to wait that long but my daughter really wanted to try it so I was willing to it for her.
After waiting that time, we then checked in again. You get a ticket and get to wait until 10 minutes for somebody to get your table. The process is inefficient and slow. Worst of all, once I sat down I looked around and the place was 40% full at best. Why did I have to wait so long then?
My daughter loved the place in general but between the lousy service and high prices, this will be a place we'll go to on a rare occasion.
So expensive. The kids were entertained by the restaurant decor for a few minutes. Our waitress messed up my daughters drink and food order so she patiently waited twice while everyone else started. Food was mediocre and overpriced. The gift shop is a trap you have to pass on the way in and out so of course you get roped into buying something.
Service was very slow had to wait for waitress to come back needed refills needed the check and birthday cake not very attentive waitress we’ve had much better service before. My grandkids love this place we drive 2 hours to go there.
Our server was slightly rude & not responsive. I almost asked for another server. Never asked us if we wanted refills.
We ordered the kids meals right away so they wouldn’t have to wait. We asked about fries & she said it wasn’t an option yet when we ordered the adult meals fries were an option. Doesn’t make sense.
While it was crowded due to spring break, our service was lackluster due to server confusion and food quality doesn’t match price point. We try again and again to like this place for the kids but it is proven to be out-dated and not worth the money.
They were clearly short handed, however, the food was great and the bartender was very nice.
SUPER busy and had to wait in a 20 minute long line twice even though we had a reservation. Took a very long time to communicate with the host and the food was not very good.
Service very slow and restaurant needs updating. Half the mechanical pieces don't work anymore. Food was subpar.
It was my sons birthday! Everything was great, he had the birthday volcano, and balloon artists were walking around, making balloons for the kids which was great. My son had a great time.
Cheap plates are around 14 dollars, not too many of them, regular around $25 and up. Only downside was the bathrooms, they were dirty, smelly, sticky, reminded me of a public bathroom in a park after a week of no one cleaning kind of thing. Just gross, but other than that everything was great. Food did take about an hour to arrive but everything there keeps you entertained while you wait.
Fun for kids but pretty bad service. Had an 11am reservation and was seated right away. Didn't receive our drinks (or water) until 11:40. Food was decent but over all pretty pricy. I wish the animals were a little more animated. We were seated in a pretty boring section, only really saw a butterfly.
Food and service was great! Thanks for making our son feel special at his birthday celebration!
Kids had fun and enjoyed the animals and the ambiance, however my 4 year old was disappointed when everyone around had a birthday song sang to them but not him. It was his birthday we were celebrating, but because we couldn’t order the volcano desert because it has nuts, and we had nut allergies, the waiter told me that we can’t have the birthday song, because we the desert cost 16.95 and we didn’t order it. We ordered desert for the kids, but I guess it wasn’t enough for a birthday song. Sorry won’t come again for a special occasion. What a disappointment. How do you explain to a 4 year old that he didn’t have a birthday song sang to him, because his brother is allergic to nuts. What?!?!?!?! That doesn’t make sense to me.
Great place for birthdays and kids! Great experience!
I would recommend to families with children for the experience. My kids loved the atmosphere. The food was not good at all. My kids couldn’t even eat their macaroni and cheese, and I feel like macaroni and cheese is hard to mess up.
Such a fun place to dine with your kids...and good food!
We had a good time on Saturday with my 4 year-old and 19-month old. The restaurant is fun and I loved that they had a balloon artist come to the table. The service was friendly and accommodating but a little slow. The food was good but a little expensive for basic dishes. But I guess you’re also paying for the ambiance. Overall we had a great time.
Food was overpriced. Service was slow. It is starting to age. Definitely past it’s prime.
The service was pleasant but so slow. I had to ask 3 times for the restaurant week menu because they kept saying it was over when it was the last day. Food was fine at best but I wouldn't say good.
We had a wonderful time there! My daughter celebrated her 9th birthday and the girls were so excited! The balloon artist was amazing too!
Our kids - 3 and 6 loved it! Food was meh but appreciated the quick seating (we had a reservation) and balloon artists. Def a special occasion place and def for kids!!!
Food was delicious and waiter was very friendly but I think he was serving many tables and far from each other that he kept forgetting to bring us things such as ketchup and napkins. But don’t blame him he was just assigned to too many tables and we where a large group. Bathroom where clean and over all the place was clean.
Great atmosphere and kid-friendly.
I celebrating my moms birthday at Rainforest Cafe the service was great, food and drinks were satisfying everything went as planned. Would totally plan another celebration there.
We celebrated my granddaughter's 11th birthday and she enjoyed getting the cupcake and the singing to her at the end to celebrate.
Kids loved going there to see the animals. Service was good but the waitress seemed overworked and was being waitress and hostess.
For a kid friendly restaurant it would be helpful if the servers kept that in mind. Service was slow despite it not being busy; we had to flag our server down for water a couple times; then waited almost ten minutes for our bill. Our kids loved their nuggets and fries but the adult entrees were average and not hot when they arrived.
Food was good.....ex......hair was found in friends food both plates. So other then that it was a great time. They did fix the plate but still hair in both plates. Wear a hair net maybe in kitchen lol.
Food was good. Server Crystal was fabulous!
Dazanique was our waiter and she was EXCEPTIONAL! She was attentive and went above and beyond in serving our needs. We were celebrating my daughter's 8th birthday with 5 of her friends. She made our dining experience go smooth. My friend ordered a BBQ bacon Cheeseburger which she said was amazing. I had the Tropical Oasis Trio (Salmon, Steak & Grilled Chicken) which was quite pricey ($29.99) however it was delicious and filing. We also ordered the Volcano desert for the girls and the staff sang a birthday tune for my daughter.
Great time for birthdays.
Great atmosphere but unflavored food
Would not choose to come back
First time visit for my kiddos. Great experience! Our server was wonderful & provided excellent service! Food was great & came out quick. We enjoyed our lunch & will definitely come back!
