Rail & River Bistro
First of all, LOVE Ft. Langley! Rail & River is a nice upscale dining addition to the charm and walkability of the town, with a great atmosphere and a fabulous location right next to the water. Have been now a number of times, and it's always been a lovely evening. They're consistent on the quality... will return.
The staff were so great ,enjoyed the whole experience.
Nice place, small menu which we prefer, duck was prepared medium rare, I prefer mine slightly better done and had requested this.Thought the prices were reasonable except for the wine, cheapest bottle was $55, this is a nice place but it’s not fine dining so a more economical wine would be an improvement
I would recommend it, as I don't think its fair to review after just ONE experience.
The restaurant itself is lovely, but I never got my starter that I ordered and all the other starters, came at different times; so my husband got his fries, and finished them before our friends got their shrimp cocktail., my duck pate, never arrived.
We were sat by the kitchen, and their starter sat for a while before it arrived at our table, we actually told the waitress it was ready and then she brought it over.
It took 90 minutes for us to get the main - which is long, but I don't mind too much as I don't like feeling rushed to eat. But as I didn't have the started I was starving by the time it arrived.
Overall it was expensive for the experience. I will try try it one more time, not on a Saturday night though before deciding it is a place we will visit regularly.
Hi there, Thank-you for coming in to try us out and your honest review. We are sorry you did not have a better experience with us. If you are willing, would you please pm your contact information so John, our owner could contact you himself? Thanks again for choosing us. :) Regards, Rail & River Team
First time there, went for a business dinner with out of town colleagues. There were 8 of us in total. The menu, the service and the food was excellent. Everyone loved it. Will certainly go back.
Quiet evening in restaurant with live music. Very nice evening.
Steaks were excellent, but potatoes and vegetables with steak were not very good.
One of favourites. Kid Friendly. Great food and always welcoming.
One of our favourite restaurants in BC. Great for families while providing a great menu and drinks list for adults.
I've been to Rail & River for brunch and loved it. The food and service was great.
Just recently I brought a friend for dinner. Being that it was a busy evening our food was brought to the table and the server quickly moved on to other tasks. After a wait we had to flag down another server to request cutlery. When my friend had finished his main meal his plate and cutlery were removed although there was still a shared dish on the table. We ended up sharing cutlery to finish the food.
It's a lovely restaurant and I love the ambience and decor. I get it that it was busy but wanted to share my experience nonetheless.
Good food. Had to wait 20 minutes even with a reservation which was frustrating. Good food and wine, manager did a good job with us
The food was fresh and my fish was cooked to perfection. I like the atmosphere, simple, fresh, local. It was a bit loud, but it was also rather busy.
Love Thursday nights...who could ask for more, pasta specials and live music!
Excellent as usual.
great evening in Ft Langley! loved the live music... not too loud. had a great meal with great company in an outstanding atmosphere
Arrived at same time it opened, 1000, meal served at 1040. When we asked for Capaccinos, told machine takes 30 mins to heat up. Food was great! Clearly, staff should be on post and systems switched on by 0930, that would solve the service delays!
Can get very loud as the walls seem to amplify noise. We found we were almost yelling to be heard across the table.
Food and service were good and would be willing to try it again.
We celebrated my sister's birthday here and were not disappointed! Our server, Richelle, made our night! Super friendly, helpful, and on top of our need for drink refills. When we asked her advice, regarding menu choices, her suggestions were spot on. Great food, generous portions. We'll be back.
This was a really pleasant casual evening out in a great setting.
Over all very good. The food was wonderful- very tasty. We had the “special” which was fresh grilled halibut on vegetable risotto. Service was slow but the waitress was very kind and knowledgeable regarding the menu and drinks. She did however not ask us if we wanted a second alcoholic beverage and it was quite sometime before we could ask her over to ask but all in all a very nice place. Will go back.
No flavor in the pasta, crispy duck was more like jerky, calamari was colorless so oil wasn’t hot enough...server was very nice.
Good menu/selection. Dinner was very good. Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, delays in getting bread and dinner. I would recommend
Awesome staff, great food.
However, it looked like it was the owner and his family occupying the most central table inside the restaurant, and being so central, this group was quite loud and “boisterous” and what could be labelled as “bragging” about the various menu items when interacting with nearby tables. Lucky for us, we were sitting in an otherwise quiet corner, far away from this group.
I think I would have got up and left the restaurant if we were sitting any closer, having our meal disturbed like that.
Otherwise, we’ll probably be back..but will sneak a peak to make sure that same party is not present when we come in.
The food and service was very good. The noise level was a bit high because of the table next to us had 4 exuberant persons who talked and laughed loudly, which made it hard for us to understand each other......but they were having a great time; hard to begrudge that to anybody? Yes, we will be back!
I really wanted to like this place but the food wasn’t great and overpriced for what it was. I had a bug in my beer and she brought me a spoon to fish it out - I didn’t want a new beer but maybe just a glass with how much I still had. Disappointing but maybe they will improve.
For our anniversary, we decided to try a new restaurant in Fort Langley. What a lovely surprise to find such a great place! The service was excellent and the food great. I loved the vegetarian risotto! We will definitely return to try the new menu and definitely recommend this cool restaurant to our friends. Go try it for yourself!
We had a great time at the rail and river bistro! The service was prompt and professional, the location was spectacular, and we loved the food! The burger was our parties favourite!
Everything was pretty good. We appreciated our server and her knowledge/description of the dishes to help us to decide. But it was noisy and we waited a very very long time for our food to arrive. Also, I indicated on the on-line reservation that this was a birthday celebration, but that was not picked up by the staff.
Service very good but food disappointing chicken a bit dry and salmon and seafood over cooked. We expected better for the price.
Need to create a more chill vibe, it’s quite bright and I’m inviting. Great restaurant don’t take it the wrong way, could be just a little more chill inside
We really loved the atmosphere and the service was great! Our first ordered appetizer was not going to be ready for 30 min so we didn’t get it. The second ordered appetizer was delicious! Our main meals were not very good and did not like my cocktail.
Overall lovely location. Staff are pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was good. Would have liked more pillowy soft gnocchi with my meal 😉.
Computer glitch had us waiting a long time for our meal, but the staff provided some delishous compensation for the delay.
Would go there again when in town next.
Truffle fries were great, with restrained application of Truffle. Calimari was a little watery.
Horrible food, portions are extremely small, under cooked, over priced!! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone!!
They made my family birthday party extra special!
We really enjoyed our meal and the restaurant is nice and open and has lots of natural lighting.
Most of the food was outstanding. Just one item was "ok" The server was phenomenal. Loved the ambience.
Second time in the restaurant. Loved it first time and just as much the second. Great menu and food. Beer and wine selection is excellent.
Tenderloin had grissle! Obviously not tenderloin! Nice staff, but will never go back because not worth the price. Not when the tenderloin was tough and had grissle
We had originally booked lunch for Mother’s Day as their online menu sounded really good. Then was called to change our time to a set 12:30 as it was now a buffet brunch. We were ok with but expected something far more exciting than what we got. It was rather basic especially at that high cost. Ran out of eggs Benedict twice. Had to wait for it twice. Very disappointing. But worth that money.
Booked in advance for Mother’s Day brunch. Was not informed would be buffet with set price. Could have that info at time of booking or even with confirmation email. Very limited time given for seating. Server rudely informed us we had to be out promptly at 12 for the next seating. (Reso was at 11)
Very limited food selection at buffet. Chafing dishes were very empty. Felt ripped off with the price of $30 per person not including beverages.
Our second try and the food failed on both occasions. Salmon overcooked, wings dry and overcooked and under-dressed salads. Sadly....although a great venue the food will keep us away.
The service was great Very pleasant.
The food was fabulous ~ Rack of lamb cooked to perfection!
Wine list has a good selection
