R2L Ratings and Reviews
The place is amazing. I mean the view that you're getting is priceless. I really liked it. Me and my boyfriend went there on a Sunday night and it was pretty busy since it was restaurant week. I immediately felt in love with our table and I really appreciated when I saw that they were satisfying my request for a table for two nearby the window. The food was in small portions but at the end of the night you felt stuffed so that's a pretty good. My plates though had extra salt and I really don't like that. Overall my short rib was exquisite!!!
Service was excellent and the view is spectacular. I was here for Restaraunt Week. The appetizer beet salad was good. I ordered the risotto and really didn't like it. It was way too thick and buttery. They graciously took it back without me asking and brought the salmon, which I really enjoyed. My husband got the filet tips and found them to be just ok. Desserts weren't bad. It's a nice place, very romantic and they treat you well. But this is not enough to make me go back. For me, great food is the first priority.
the food was very good but the portions were very small - 3 small prawns - and I do mean small - for the grilled prawn entree.I don't know if this was because we ordered from the restaurant week menu or this is just the way it always is - but if I had to pay the prices on the regular menu,I would have been disappointed.
The portions were very small but the quality was good. The service was lacking. They had a ton of bus people taking away our plates but rarely did we see our server. We had to ask for more bread twice and we wanted to order another round of drinks but no one ever came back to offer any. The views of the city were amazing and the way they have the tables set up, there are no bad seats anywhere.
My boyfriend and I continue to return to R2L in spite of some recent disappointments. The atmosphere, particularly the view, is superb. The food is creative, but a bit overpriced for the portions and inconsistency in quality. Servers are attentive, though somewhat inexperienced and would benefit from some basic training.
We went to R2L for dinner during Restaurant Week --- we requested to be seated next to the window, and The view was absolutely stunning! The restaurant is located on the 37th floor and provides a great view of the city. The recommended filet mignon and short ribs were good; the meat was very tender, but the presentation of the food was fairly plain. I was impressed, however, with their chocolate cremeux dessert, which had many layers of flavor - bitter, sweet, acidic. I was a little disappointed with their service; our server seemed to be a little too busy that night. We also had a busser who dropped utensils twice (once on our table, once on the floor) when clearing the tables.
We had a wonderful time. Our waiter was fantastic. The only annoyance was we had a reservation with a confirmation number and they also e-mailed us to confirm. Then I received a phone call again asking for confirmation, but when I didn't return their call by a certain time, they said they gave our reservation away and weren't very nice about it. A little overkill as I felt harassed. It all got straightened out, but it did put a damper on the beginning.
We had a wonderful evening from start to finish. It was my husbands 52nd birthday, they acknowledged it with champagne and a Happy Birthday candle in our dessert. We will definitely go back and bring our friends this time to enjoy this great find.
Mixed feelings about R2L. Started with a phone call that afternoon stating if I don't confirm my reservation. I would be cancelled and if late they would also cancel. I made this reserv. 2 months ago and felt that phone call was rude. (plus i did call the day before to confirm) We got there early and asked if we could have a window seat and hostess said no that is for someone important?! What does that mean! Rude again! Not feeling the love! Almost left but stayed! It was our date night for my husband and i & wanted to enjoy it! Thankfully waiter and bar staff were great! We enjoyed our food but felt was over priced! In that price range there are better places to go! Sorry I never write reviews but this time I wanted to share.
The views were incredible, we had a window seat. The place was dark and quiet, perfect for a romantic evening. The food was amazing from the romaine salad to the perfectly cooked lobster. The service was first rate, everyone was attentive but not overbearing. We will definitely be going back!!
Our night out at R2L was hands down one of the best dining experiences ever. I've been to restaurants everywhere I go, whether for business or fun. R2L beat them all easily. It is great for a romantic date, and I'm sure it would be fun with a group of friends.
We went to R2L for my wife's birthday. We were greeted with a champagne toast. The view was phenomenal. The food was outstanding and the service was top-notch. We eat out pretty often and we both agreed that this was the best meal we had in quite some time. The filet mignon was to die for and the warm vanilla cake was out of this world. I recommend going right before sunset. That way you get to see the city and river during the day, twilight, and nighttime sky all in one meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Do not get the venison patte. We had the filet mignon, salmon, seared tuna, $20 half wine, banana cheese cake, and chocolate thing for desert... good service, great ambiance, I recommend it for restaurant week, otherwise it's really expensive... but amazing views... in Jan/Feb get there 5 to 6 so you can see the sunset... amazing...
I truly enjoyed my very 1st r2l experience. The decor and the aura of the restaurant is classy. I loved the difference of menu choices for restaurant week. The view is absolutely stunning. I went just as the sun was going down it was perfect. I was also joined by a few friends to celebrate a birthday. I must say without my knowledge the cake was damaged enroute to the restaurant. I asked the waiter to take it back for later. A few minutes after being seated the manager came to me to have me check out the cake. It was dishelved but he and the pastry chef assured me they could restore it as it was. Well needless to say they were true to their word. The cake was presented as if it was baked on the premises. I truly aporecited it.
Overall this place was wonderful. GORGEOUS views of the city. I recommend reserving a table right around sunset if possible. I went for restaurant week so the prices were more manageable. Beer was actually reasonably priced. The lobster mac and cheese was unique and very good. My salmon was a bit undercooked, but everything else was fantastic and our server was amazing.
R2L is one of the best restaurants in the City. Sure, the views are incredible, but so is the food and the service. There are very decadent items on the menu, but there are also some delicious "simply prepared" items worth trying. Highlights from this lunch were the truffle flabread pizza, the "simply prepared" salmon, and the cookies for dessert.
