R2L Ratings and Reviews
We were there to meet a relative we hadn’t seen i a long time. The music was a little loud and it was hard to hear each other while we were catching up. Everyone was very nice and service was good. The bottle of Pinot we ordered was too cold as was the tuna appetizer that I ordered. Once things got to room temperature the food was fresh and tasty.
The service : remarkable. The food : outstanding. I enjoyed this monthly dinner out at R2L none of us had ever been. We will be back. Everything was so tasty and portions allowed us to all go home with doggy bags. Jamir was our server and he deserves all the raises one could get. Amazing all around ❤️❤️
Great food. My first drink was watered down. The receptionist at the front of the restaurant floor entrance told us to sit at the bar until they located our reservation or found a place for us to sit in the uncrowded restaurant. We waited for about seven minutes until I asked the young lady about our seat. Only then did she accommodate us. I believe second chances so we will return only because of the ambiance and food. Lobster Mac and Cheese was incredible!
Dinner was special and terrifically prepared. Smallish menu provides for excellent quality and presentation. Lobster Bisque and Beef Tenderloin + Short Rib; Tuna Shashimi and Veal Chop. Side of roasted Brussels Sprouts rounded out the meal. Our server Jamier was the perfect host.
Very disappointing! We went there for reviews of the beautiful views and it was truly disappointing. I will say the furniture and tables were beautiful. Even though we made a reservation we waited an extra 20 minutes. The restaurant had several open tables yet it took over 30 minutes to get our food. We spent 2 hours there from putting our name in to getting the Check. I ordered the tuna which was over cooked and the server was very polite about bringing me a new dish. Overall do not recommend and won’t be back.
My girlfriend and I went there for our anniversary, and boy did this place not disappoint! The ambiance, the service, the food but most of all, the view (if you manage to score either a window side or window facing table)!! The only small hiccup was that our entrees took a little long to get to us but everything else makes up for it. I’d recommend the Porter House Porkfor main and the Crisp Risotto for sharing. I had an Old Cuban cocktail and it was on point!!!
This was our third time at R2L this year (ash we could go 3 times every year, but the budget may not support that!), and this experience was our best yet! I would go so far as to say it was amazing. Our reservations were right at sunset, so the view from the 37th floor was fantastic. Our seats were perfect for watching day turn into night. Every single course was phenomenal. The lobster bisque is otherworldly with a perfect spicy kick. We had the fried risotto to share and it too was amazing. Each of our entrees (braised short rib and filet combo, veal chop, and 2 rabbit dishes; sides of Brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese) was truly without flaw. Our desserts (chocolate hazelnut treat, vanilla cake) were a great way to end the experience. The service was impeccable - everyone went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. I cannot wait to go back!
The space was perfect for a business dinner after a conference. While there were minor issues regarding the wine list and receiving a side with everything else, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect and we couldn't have asked for anything more! Would definitely go back for any special occasion in Philly or business dinner. The view was incredible.
Reserved a table for my 22nd birthday be aware there is a strict 15 minute cancellation policy and the restaurant is currently undergoing construction so we weren't able to call or change our reservation. We ended up being seated 45 minutes past our initial reservation but it was well worth the wait. I had their hand crafted margarita and it was the best I've ever had. The music choice was odd but the view and atmosphere was incredible. Be aware you need to request and put in a deposit to get a window seat, but all the views are fantastic and you can always walk around and take pictures. I took the waitress' suggestion of the pork and I was not disappointed. The mac and cheese size was rich and excellent presentation but poor quantity size.
Decided to go for my sisters birthday especially because she’s been longing to come here. Was not disappointed at all! Even if you don’t get a window seat you still have ample viewing room from wherever you are. The food was absolutely divine to wear it blew us out of the water. I don’t think out of four of us no one had a complaint about anything from the food to the server to the atmosphere. And we had the best waiter you can possibly imagine. Funny attentive and very outgoing! I have already recommended this place to everyone I have come in contact with. Thanks for the wonderful evening.
One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at, the restaurant was beautiful, the staff was very welcoming and professional and the food was delicious. The dinner menu was great but I would like to have seen more vegetarian/vegan options, and slightly bigger portions. Overall dining at R2L was an amazing experience I'll never forget and I look forward to dining there again.
We went to R2L for dinner to celebrate a special birthday, and everything was perfect. If you want to be seated on the side of the restaurant where you can see the view of the city, I suggest making a reservation, which I did in advance. The view is gorgeous, the food is delectable, and the best part was our excellent service. Our waiter was pleasant and indulged in our (admittedly lame) jokes. I had mentioned the birthday in our reservation and he brought out a dessert at the end of our meal, which was absolutely fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an upscale experience (scenic view, downtown location, fancy vibe and decor, mouthwatering dishes). The best part was that for the overall experience we had, most places would charge much more than what we ended up paying for it. I highly recommend R2L.
This is a great date place, good food, portions that will not over stuff and decent drink selection.
We shared a filet, a shashimi app and some sorbet for desert, it was enough.
Don't go to this place starving, but if you're trying to eat some foodie food, have a few drinks with a really good view, it's worth it.
Enjoyed our 20th Anniversary meal immensely! Everything was so fresh and seasoned very well. Even though our table was literally in the center, we still were able to enjoy the amazing views. I kind of felt bad for those who sat near the windows because patrons were constantly taking pictures near their tables 😞. Pricey but a very nice experience!
Great view...and it ended there 😕 We had four people in our group- sent back Lobster bisque, had crispy risotto which were fried mush balls, no flavor. Waiter never asked once we got the food how it was!!? Not one of us liked our dishes from the smoked chopped up lobster tail (ugh) to tasteless fish of the day. Terrible service, over priced (not worth over 300.00) the chef tries too hard and failed miserably!! Save your money and go for a drink to see the view.
A family group of five of us recently dined there while visiting Philly. The restaurant had been highly recommended. Some of the food was very good, as were the specialty cocktails. Unfortunately two of us, who love salt, had overly salty entrees (a pork dish and a beef dish), and our waitress got a few things wrong. She didn't bring our bottle of wine for dinner until we were about 1/3 of the way through our entrees, she got one after-dinner drink wrong twice, and she was away from the table for substantial lengths of time. Late in our dinner one of the managers came up to ask us how everything was going, but she didn't identify herself, so we had no idea who she was or why she suddenly showed up at our table. We ordered 4 desserts, and two of them--a cheesecake and an apple crisp dish--were both very oddly configured and flavored. We loved the views, but I likely won't return to the restaurant.
Great food and service - in that area they never disappoint. If reserving the window seat ignore the policy on the restaurant website. They have no intention on crediting you or gift carding you back the difference of your 100-125/pp deposit. We were forced to buy something else or they would have surcharged us to keep the deposit. Also if sitting by the window be sure you are ok with random people walking in between your table to take pictures. At one point we had a group of 5 come up to get pics while we were eating dinner so it was distracting and a vibe killer to have them crowd around you.
Service was excellent. The food was excellent. It was great. One of my friends said she heard the food was nasty and didnt want to go and she was more than happy she do come because the food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was phenomenal. I would recommend it for everyone.
No idea why this restaurant is super popular, the view is great but meh. So many other restaurants in philly for better food and service. Rsservation and still had to wait 25m for our table - had to hunt a hostess down for a bar menu. They also don't give you buzzers or take your number while you're waiting (they just say that they'll find you).. it's odd given that the place is super busy. Had the steak/brisket? plate.. the brisket was ridiculous salty.. couldn't even eat it. Lobster Mac was underwhelming but I heard the brussel sprouts were good. Sister had a martini, extra dirty (she enjoyed) .. I had a margarita (terrible but that's my fault i know lol!) First time there and first time visiting philly - I'll be back to the city but not to R2L.
