I highly recommend R2L for a fantastic date night. The views of the city are perfect, especially if you go during sunset and watch the sky go dark, and the city light up.
Food is amazing. Drinks are perfectly paired with menu. This is a high end restaurant, so you’ll be paying good money, but you get exactly what you pay for and then some.
Our server, Maria, made our night especially special. I also suggest you request her. She answered every question and added a lot of information and personality. She was fantastic.
First time there the entire evening was absolutely fantastic until we left. I had called on our way there to see if there was valet parking. I was informed that no but if you park in the parking garage next-door to them they validate parking. When somebody validates parking it’s usually for the amount total for the parking never ever have I ever had validated parking where I needed to pay money . When we left I put the ticket in the machine and it said I owed $19 when I went to the parking attendant to ask what was going on since it was validated he said this happens all the time they tell people that but they only cover a portion of it so they covered four dollars of it I still owed 19. The problem with this is when I was paying the check at the restaurant I had to $100 bills on me And since I assume that my parking with validated and since I assume that my parking with validated since my server was so good I decided to give her the extra money I would’ve paid on parking. If I would have known I would have brought my credit card with me as well so instead I had to leave my car in the parking garage and taking it Uber home to get my credit card. So $45 to get home $45 to get back in $19 for the garage my excellent night cost me $109 to park. Someone needs to let know whoever answers the phone there to explain exactly what you do with parking. Not very fair considering I’ve passed about five open spots on the street to park for free. Not that I would ever mind paying for parking in the city it is expected but the person who answered the phone cost me $109 for not explaining themselves and leaving it at we validate parking. And I’m not the only one like I said the parking attendant told me this happens constantly
I was very surprised about R2L in general! The drinks were good but the food and Ambiance were not! there was a strong fishy smell that was present throughout our whole dining experience and it was very off-putting. Also, the food was not good for it to be a $$ luxury restaurant. to start I got the clam chowder and I got the oysters a half of dozen at $20 they were good but didn't seem worth the price, my husband said that the chowder was bland and was very thin. for an entree, I got the lobster that was dry and I also got the mac and cheese. My mac and cheese - the filling was good however the pasta shells that was served with it was hard around the edges which made it unenjoyable, to say the least. My husband got the veal and was not impressed. We did not get a dessert or after dinner drink because we were ready to leave! it was a huge disappointment especially since our check came up to $230. Also, the decor was dated, I don't think there has been any updates or renovations since it opened. Unfortunately, we won't be back we both agreed that Eddie V's or Legal Seafood are much better restaurants.
Nothing beats the view of Philadelphia!
Had a wonderful 19th wedding anniversary celebration here. The entrees were delish. We thought the sides were average at best. The charred brussel sprouts were missing a finishing touch like a vinaigrette or light sauce and the lobster Mac and cheese was very decadent to the point at the cheese overwhelmed the dish. No worries we ate the lobster! It was delish! we will visit again some time soon even if it is to get to hang at the bar for a few drinks and take in the beautiful nighttime sky!!
I have never been disappointed when I have eaten here and brought guests. Great service, food and ambience. Highly recommend.
We drove from Baltimore Maryland for the restaurant. We were running late because of traffic when we got there the hostess told us that we were late and can’t be seated. We had to talk to the manager but overall it was a nice experience, definitely would come back again.
I would not recommend this restaurant . Have special events there for them to ruin it by bringing your birthday cake to the wrong table
Ambiance location 5stars. view was to die for service was above average. Nice crown not too noisy. bar was amazing, hostess was great our server was ok not sure exactly who was our main server there was a young lady punching out and then we had to other fellas serving us as well so maybe that was the reason for lack of attention but again service was above average..food was brought out in a timely manner..I tried the nachos wasn’t big on them at all....the playing of our main dishes could have used a little more finess..the filet was perfect, tasted cook to my desired temp as for the short rib I left 75% of it on the table..the Mac and cheese was very different very unique choice of cheese very sharp but interesting .fingerling potatoes were good Brussels sprouts were very good..I always recommend trying things at least once so I would recommend this restaurant to anyone I always try things twice because Steph curry doesn’t score 50points every nite so maybe next time I’ll get a 50point performer 3stars
Service and ambiance was amazing. Our waiter Maria was so attentive and helpful. Would definitively go again.
I requested a window table and instead of the restaurant to call me or contact me to let me know that this wasn’t possible, I had to find out when I arrived which I didn’t like. The duck breast tasted very bland, no seasoning whatsoever. The staff seemed cold, I can’t explain the vibe but it just wasn’t what I am used to. When the bread was delivered to the table the waitress dropped it on top of the candles so glass broke and we had to sit at another table. The seats that are not near the window are so close to one another you are literally on top of the next couple so In terms of privacy and having a private conversation haha good luck. I’ve been to several restaurants in the Philadelphia area: Estia, Del Frisco, Ruth Chris, Parc, Volver and I’ve had amazing experiences there. Perhaps I had really high expectations for this place but I wouldn’t return again.
Food and atmosphere outstanding
The views are what we came here for but the food and our server Carlie was absolutely outstanding and made the night!!
Beautiful views, excellent service and food. I will return in the future
Great views. Service was excellent. Good food. Decent wine
For a special ocassion it is definitely a MUST DO. From the time we arrived at the coat check, they were expecting us and the welcome was very warm. Once we exited the elevator on the 37th floor, the greeter was just as welcoming and knew we were celebrating our 30th anniversary. Table by window..... PRICELESS.
Our server Mark.... EXCELLENT (attentive to every detail, very professional). Food was good, as you would expect with a restaurant with this kind of view a tad expensive.
Not enough on the menu to choose from. We would never come back again.
Our meals and service were very good! However, we were not seated for an hour after our reservation.
Waiter was rushing us a bit, things were moving a little too fast. The ambiance was very romantic and calming. So, having a waiter that moved very fast in his speech and service was a bit overwhelming and killed the mood.
My husband and I ate dinner there for the first time and the ambience and customer service was great. The food was fresh and delicious.
This was my 2nd time at R2L, admittedly, several years apart from my first visit. I don't know whose idea it was to pack tables in and force you to sit on top of your neighbors and then charge you $38 for salmon but please, go back to the way it used to be. Overpriced food for no reason. SUPER slow service. A server who could barely describe the menu items, and unreasonably loud music. It was unexpected and not in a good way.
We came here for our 7th anniversary. Ambiance was on point but was incredibly disappointed by the service and average food. The entire time the waitress and assistant servers were rushing every aspect of the meal. Didn’t give us more than 2 minutes to settle in to be asked what we wanted to eat before a cocktail. We ordered drinks and an app and wine. Wine bottle wasn’t even opened prior to dinner being served. Food was getting cold as we waited for the server to pour. We kept getting interrupted every couple of minutes asking if we needed anything and if we had finished with our meal to take our plates away. After dessert, we usually always get an after dinner drink. However literally as dessert was served, the waitress brought the check and get this, as we are still eating and finishing our coffee, she takes the check away. It wasn’t like we were the last ones there either, we finished at 9:25 when people were still coming in for reservations. Horrible service experience when you’re looking to enjoy a special occasion. Very clear all the want to do is flip tables. Will not recommend or come here again.
We had a wonderful night! The sunset was beautiful. The food was great and I really appreciated the “accommodation” on the dish my son ordered. The stand-out part of the night however was the server. I can not recall his name and just have to say he was simply “phenomenal”. A master of his trade. Please extend my sincere appreciation to him as he made it such a pleasurable night. GREAT PLACE, GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT FOOD!
Great experience from the coat check, service, food. I keep reading in other reviews that it was pricey, but let’s be real you get what you pay for! Like Biggie said, but if you pay like you weigh then you can stay baby! Definitely recommend & will return!
Its a beautiful place but it is way over priced. I paid $17 for 4 tasteless cocktail shrimps. My bill was $115 and i left there so hungry. My partner didnt like his food and we told the waiter. She said the kitchen was close. I thought she would at least give us a discount seeing that he barely touched the food but no.
Absolutely amazing experience, highly recommend bringing a date here. Steak was slightly over cooked, ordered Medium rare and it was Medium. Not sure if they tend to over cook so you should order less than you want, or if it was just a mistake. Still really good. Raw tar tar was amazing and aged bone in ribeye is never a wrong move.
Great service, very good quality of food.
We were immediately blown away by the atmosphere & views! The tuna tartare & the truffle flat bread we started with, were both perfectly balanced. We then enjoyed the ribeye & salmon main courses, with sides of mac & cheese & fingerling potatoes. Everything was exactly as I would have expected and more! Can’t wait to head back!
I received two voicemails from R2L saying that they needed a card on file for a $25 deposit for a large group. When I called about the voicemail and to confirm my reservations, the $25 was bypassed. In that same call, I asked to increase my reservation from 6 to 7 and was told that "we can not approve my reservation with 7 people because this is that first time, in a long time, that we've had large parties and we're completely booked. I have never heard a restaurant tell a guest that they can't accommodate one more person.
I arrived to the restaurant and was greeted by the host who informed me of a $6 cake cutting charge and asked if my party was still a party of 6, I told her 7 and she told me "we can't sit you with 7 people".
As I sat by the bar awaiting my party, I did a quick scan of the room and noticed that the front booths (seating 6) were full, therefore my party would not be seating at a booth, so why could you not add an extra chair to the table?
My entire party arrives, and another person asks "Mr. Christian, is your party now a party of 8", I replied and "we have 7 people here", she said "Thank you we are turning over your table now"
I was then brought to a table of 8! Which was werid because I kept getting told no to 7 people and now there's an extra seat.
It was a bit offputting and set the tone for the evening. As a server, we are always accommodating to our guest, we don't make a huge fuss over adding an additional chair.
Though, Nick at the bar was awesome and welcoming.
It was great, food and service were good. View was to die for.
This restaurant is an entire experience. One that I can not wait to have again. From the moment you walk through the door on the first floor of the building, where you are greeted and asked if you’d like to check your coat, to the second you can pick up your boxed to-go meal from the hostess... AMAZING. The views were phenomenal. The staff was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and attentive - especially Mark! The food was unbelievably delicious. The braised rib nachos, shrimped scallops, lobster macaroni and cheese - outstanding! My boyfriend and I fully enjoyed every second and left feeling as if we had the best date night ever! We live over an hour away from R2L but are already planning our next trip. Thank you, R2L for wonderful evening as I celebrated my birthday!!!
Restaurant was not what we expected. It was over priced and overrated . View was spectacular but that was all it had going for it. Food was ordinary and not exceptional . Would not recomend it and would not return
Very very pleased, a bit pricey but if you want to eat top of the line food you must spend. Beautiful view I would go again in a heart beat no questions asked
Third time I have had dinner here. Consistently excellent. Josh, our server, was just the right degree of friendliness and was extremely accommodating. Our meals were perfection. Loved the shrimp and scallops. We had a complimentary appetizer (not on the menu), which was the R2L version of cheesesteak nachos, but the chips were a lacy delicacy instead. Desserts were also better than described. Try the warm vanilla cake and the pineapple+mint desserts...oh, my! Time your dinner to watch the sunset; views are spectacular. Highly recommended!!
Our waitress was lovely! The food was outstanding!!!! It’s really a nice place !!!
Food was ok. Atmosphere and view was amazing. Think they should add more to the menu.
FABULOUS! Cannot wait to come back.
The food, ambiance and service was top notch. Our food came within 20 minutes of ordering, and our server was on top of his game. Very attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion you may have with family and friends!
service was excellent, entree's were great, side dishes, not to our liking, the crispy brussel spouts, were not too good, and the fried potatos, and spicy dipping, not so good either.
bussels spouts would be better, less crispy, with olive oil and garlic, and the potato dipping sause would
have been better with a hot sauce mix with mayo, sour cream. it was too pepperery
everything else was great, thanks,
My wife, our son and his wife and I enjoyed the restaurant and the food immensely. Josh was a great waiter and served our table well. Everyone’s dinner was wonderful from drinks to desserts. We will definitely visit this restaurant again.
