Riccardo was born in Florence, Italy and grew up in Boston, MA. Marybeth, a Sioux Falls native, ventured to the east coast as a nanny and then nursing school in Somerville, MA. The two met, fell in love, and became engaged on Martha’s Vineyard island. Moving back to Sioux Falls in 1999 and working at several area restaurants, they opened R Wine Bar in 2018. As owners of R Wine Bar, Riccardo and Marybeth are passionate about one thing: people. They believe that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. With a curated wine list, local craft beer on tap, and beautifully executed menu, Riccardo and Marybeth are thrilled to bring R Wine Bar & Kitchen to the East Bank of Downtown Sioux Falls along with their General Manager, Jane Allen, Executive Chef, Andrew Morgan, and Director of Catering, Ben Swenson.

    This was my first time visiting the restaurant and I will definitely be back! Perfect place for a date night with a significant other or friend. The food was fresh and delicious and did not make us feel full and gross. Great place for authentic Italian food!

    Our waitress was amazing, very knowledgeable about food and wine pairings and extremely friendly. The food was delicious, and the restaurant has a fun atmosphere.

    We always enjoy our experience at R Wine Bar. The food is always a home run and we’d return over and over for that alone. But what really makes it special is the service. We have been bringing our son since he was age six (now eight) and they are always kind to him. He doesn’t have an adult palate but they make butter noodles without blinking an eye. They are patient as he’s recently started practicing ordering for himself. It’s so helpful as we teach him how to dine nicely in public.

    Would highly recommend this restaurant! The wait staff was very friendly and our server, Autumn H, was phenomenal 😁 this was our first time dining here and she was helpful answering our questions and making recommendations! We ordered the Ricotta for appetizer and could not suggest this more it was amazing!!! The Caesar salad was served with homemade dressing and it was drool worthy. We had several pasta dishes that were all superb and the house made sauces were over the top! We also ordered the braised beef with polenta. It was tender and seasoned to perfection. If you have the chance please visit the dining was nothing short of Astounding!

    A great place for a birthday celebration! Several in our party ordered the monthly special (shrimp diavolo). It did not disappoint!! Excellent service.

    On the night we dined the special was a pasta shrimp special. The taste was outstanding. It was also a generous servicing. Wait staff recommended a compatible wine to pare and was a good choice.

    Great food and service. Smaller menu, but everything is done well. Could have done without the musician, as the acoustics are loud as is in there. Hard to visit if near the stage area.

    The service was friendly, but not very knowledgeable on wine list. Timing of food wasn’t great. Plates came too early and overflow of things on our table. One pasta dish was great, the other lacked flavor. Love the live music, but it’s far too loud for the space.

    Have eaten here several times. Food is consistently good with satisfying portions. The only negative comment I can make is that our food could've been hotter. One of our group had meatballs that were barely warm inside. Good wine selection. We try to go here on weekdays instead of weekends due to the high noise level. Prompt, friendly service and live music on most nights makes this one of our favorites.

    Got seated immediately, got food within 5 min of ordering, but was ready to order quite a few times before our server asked us. Music was a bit loud making it hard to hear over and even messed up dessert order. Other then those easily fixable things the overall experience we great and I would definitely recommend to a friend and go again!!!

    R Wine Bar never disappoints. The staff and manager make you feel special. We had roasted squash ravioli, mussels, and shrimp linguine. All of the dishes were flavorful and beautiful.

    We have always loved everything about the R Wine Bar. This time it seemed like the menu was smaller and did not have as many pasta options. Service was still great. Food was good but we have had better there in the past. Will continue to go back but hoping for more options next time.

    We needed to host a larger group and R Wine had accommodations for eight people through Open Table, which made our decision to dine there an easy one. The service was outstanding, food amazing, atmosphere unique and a delightful wine list with many well priced options.

    Sammy (I think?) was a fantastic server and helped us pivot from a desired wine that was out of us stock towards a delicious, crisp Sauvignon Blanc. Excellent cuisine and courses as usual for R. Jane was also very friendly and welcoming during our visit.
