R&R Grill is located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in the CVS Plaza downtown. Since 2009, it has been known for the freshest tastes created from local produce, seafood and meats. The classic American cuisine includes appetizers, salads, burgers, lunch entrées, dinner entrées and flatbread pizzas. Even the desserts, like apple tart, at R&R Grill scream American.
Start your dinner meal with the BBQ nachos or the R&R Grill shrimp. Continue with such offerings as shrimp & grits, St. Louis ribs, NY strip steak, alfredo, fish & chips or herb chicken. The BBQ flatbread pizza is a great option too, and ideal for sharing as it is 10" round cut into six slices.
I was disappointed base on most reviews. Maybe I set the mark to high for this restaurant. The place was dead at 7 pm ( 3 or 4 tables of customers).Being a solo guest Oliver acted as I was taking away from more important things. Service was lacking would be a good term. I choose the Shrimp and Grits and was not impressed. Good flavors, but was serve on a plate very thick, pile up in the center, tails still on, just not what I was looking for. Was not offered a salad choice or desert choice. I would not return. Suggest other choices as there is many good restaurants in the area.
Were initially told we would have to wait a long time for our food because of a large group (170 people) they had in a private party. Turned out not to be the case as drinks came quickly and food just afterwards. Owner/mgr was friendly and made the experience notable with his humor about the situation. Food was Ok but not great but service was pretty good considering the large group. Looked like more of a bar scene and we had kids with us so if you wanted a good time this was probably the place.
Not a fine food establishment. It's a campus "joint." That said, our beef tips entree was surprisingly good! On the other hand, the wings (more in keeping with a campus joint) were surprisingly so-so. The waitress, while nice enough, seemed a bit out of it.
R&R is a pretty nice restaurant, have eaten there several times and consistently provides good food. The service is ok, sometimes waiters will take long breaks between visits and don't always pay attention to detail. Particularly during the day it's good for family because it is quiet and calm, at night it, it has a bar and active social scene. Good staple of Franklin Street.
I love the relaxed feel of this place - typical college campus grill with televisions on in the corners – great for 5pm - 7pm dining with family. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The zucchini frites were a hit at our table. Everyone loved the shrimp and grits. I had a hard time choosing what I wanted to try; there were so many great-sounding options. There were eight in our group, and two were a bit late, so service was fine in the beginning, but not as attentive further into the meal. We did have to occasionally ask to have our drinks refilled. Food was good though.
The fries and sandwich (panko!) were great and the atmosphere is awesome. I would highly recommend this to anyone!
Great service. The restaurant was hosting to large groups but that did not distract from them providing great service and exceptional food. Highly recommend the R&R burger and their flat bread pizzas.
It wasn't very crowded the night we went, but everyone liked their food, drinks were good, waiter was very friendly. Nice neighborhood bar atmosphere.
Great, friendly staff goes the extra mile to make it a memorable meal and visit
We'd never been to R&R before, so were surprised by a few things. The interior doesn't look anything like the pictures online. It's brightly lit (unfortunately) and pretty tacky looking. But, after seeing it, we were then pleasantly surprised by the food. The appetizers (calamari and wings) were great and so were the entrees. Great hamburgers!
After calling 90 minutes prior to arrival from an on-line computer confirmation, no reservation could be found, we went to another location
A very good alternative for lunch. I had a fried chicken BLT based on a Yelp review I read and it was a fantastic sandwich. Also had sweet potato fries which were crispy and my friend thought were great but I found the flavor a little lacking. Overall, the fried chicken BLT is a great lunch option and you can also get the traditional standbys.
