Quivey's Grove Stone House
Serving local guests and visitors alike in search of authentic regional comfort food using local Wisconsin products and foodstuffs contribute to a menu based on the dishes brought to Wisconsin by the ethnic settlers of the region. Delicious food served in a gracious manner, in a historic setting for 37 years, a dining experience you won't forget.
Connected by underground tunnel is the rustic Stable Grill, where you can belly up to th brass bar with a polished black walnut rail, or enjoy casual dining in the old horse stable. No reservations in the Stable, just join the fun.
Loved everything! Fantastic server! Really enjoyed our private room next to nursery. A very special place and experience.
We have been to Quivey’s several times. Tonight’s meal was EXCELLENT in every way. Tasty food, great service and reasonable price. Keep it up, Quivey’s!
Great Wisconsin comfort food as advertised!
Charming, historical dining room and excellent service.
I have been visiting Quivey’s for 20 years, and I keep going back because they are the best food, service, and ambience that I have ever experienced.
VERY EXCELLENT CHOICE FRIDAY FISH FRY IS SUPERIOR GET THE COMBINATION PLATE HAS BAKED,PRETZEL COATED PERCH,BEER BATTER COD,POTATOES,COLESLAW MUFFINS
My husband & I both had the Friday night fish fry, it was delish! We did have to wait about 40mins for our meal to arrive but our waitress was excellent, very attentive and kept us happy while we waited. We will be back!!
We usually go to Quiveys at 5 or 6 and most commonly we go to the Stone House. We were running late this last week and were pelasantly surprised to get a reservation at 7:45. We got there and put in our order fro brandy old fashioneds - press (less sugar) and two fish fry combos. Our server Bailey took our drink and food orders right away and the food came out within 10 mins and was nice and hot and you could tell it had just come out of the kitchen. Your food is always so good but this time it was exceptionally good. Thanks everyone for the great dinner. As we were leaving we heard someone saying that this was their first time there - and it wont be their last. Keep up the good work. If you would restart your birthday and anniversay club we would like that a lot.
Excellent place for a special dinner.
Waitstaff could not have been any more accommodating.
Food was beyond terrific.
We have been going to Quivey's for many years and enjoy the food in the Stable. Lately, we have been eating in the house for the Friday night fish fry. After a long week it is nice to go out for fish in a more calm setting. The last several times we have been seated around families with very loud kids. Would it be possible to hold an area in the house just for families with young children? It sure would be a better experience for your customers trying to enjoy their meal. You could see it on other faces they were frustrated with the kids being so loud. Thank you.
It was a beautiful evening, the perfect setting for an outdoor meal at Quivey's, which is becoming a go-to destination for us for a special dinner. Our entrees (lamb and duck) were incredibly tasty.
Quivey’s Grove is a treasure. The Stone House fills one with nostalgia - the smells, the farm family feel, the wooden floors and early last century feel - this place is special. The food is wonderful, showing a careful attention to detail and a connection to Wisconsin history. Stacy, our waitress, was excellent! This is a great spot for special meals or everyday dining.
Two of the 3 of us would have chosen something else on the menu if we did it over again. But the great staff, the service, the setting were perfect, superb. You might consider adding a vegan, non-dairy item to the menu; I had no choice other than meat / cheese. Nonetheless, it’s a fabulous, historic place to enjoy a relaxing, special time together.
We have been going to Quivey’s Stone House for over 20 years. It is a very good restaurant that has maintained high quality food and service at a reasonable price. Very good place for a casual dinner or special occasion celebration.
Enjoyed our meals on the patio. The weather was perfect.
The smoked trout was excellent. Highly recommended.
Food was outstanding. But the service was only mediocre (waited a long time for our order to be taken, weren’t told about the specials, generally ignored); judging by the fawning our waiter did over his other tables it may have been because we were two women and not expected to tip well (a phenomenon I’ve heard referred to as “lesbian service”) or perhaps he was having an off evening. Since we were celebrating a promotion and had been told to expect a great experience, this was pretty disappointing. It won’t deter us from visiting Stone House again; the duck was perfect (crisp on the outside, flavorful) and the trout was delectable and flaky. The coffee was surprisingly mediocre, but the atmosphere is welcoming and a nice break from the usual. I’m hoping the subpar service was an anomaly —we hope to make Stone House a regular on our dining out and entertaining rotation.
Have eaten here many times; this was probably best experience. Great food. Good service. Friendly server.
Delicious food! Great ambiance & location.
Great fish fry! Try the perch - delicious! The salmon was also a favorite at our table.
Great for a date! Excellent food and ambiance. Feels like a getaway.
Had the fish fry,was VERY good, server was Stacey, she was very helpful and was so nice, it was our first time here. We will be back again.
Food was good, waitress was very busy. Overall a very good dinner and dining experience.
The Sterling beef was excellent.
Love the food and the settings. Repeat customer and never been disappointed!
The food and drinks were very good! We had the Friday night fish fry, baked cod. Service was great. Very positive night out.
This was our second Friday night visit and while I thought last week was wonderful, this week far surpassed my expectations. Four of us ordered the Friday night fish, three fried, one baked: so yummy. The fifth ordered the smoked trout and shared a bit with each of us and all I can say is WOW! We loved our orders but that trout was spectacular. The parmesan potatoes were cooked perfectly, crisp on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside and the TWO baskets of strawberry muffins were a generous add on to a fully delectable meal. I added an old fashioned, the first I have had in about 30 years, I will do it again! Thanks to all who helped us. We appreciated your excellent service.
It’s really hard to have an enjoyable experience with the small rooms. We were in the Garden room and there was a large group and they were loud enough to make pleasant conversation at our table of two basically impossible.
Great food, service and ambience!. We really enjoyed our meal . The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was charming and warm.
Quivey's Stone House is a great place for a Friday Night Fish Fry! We had the combo and it was as good as ever. The lemon poppy seed muffins were superb. Of course, we had a Brandy Old Fashioned and it was perfectly constructed as well. The service was very quick and our server was very nice. If you want a great meal and wonderful ambiance and less crowds than in the Stable, the Stone House is so very nice to be in for a great meal. I am very glad that Quiveys is on Open Table now because I can book a reservation without a phone call. It is so convenient to use Open Table!
Easy to make reservations. Service was slow. It was not that busy. Don’t take reservations if not enough help. I had to get up to ask for the bill and this was 2.5 hours after we sat down. Very dark in our corner. Waitress did bring us another candle to help. Food was good. Bread or buns would be preferable to muffins.
Our server reveled that she wasn't 21 yet (so she couldn't give me wine recommendations) and we found her inexperience a bit trying as the evening progressed. She certainly hustled, but couldn't manage the number of tables she was responsible for. We started with the large appetizer sampler, which was both large and interestingly delicious. Three people at our table ordered the Friday night fried cod dinners and were happy. I ordered the duck and my husband ordered the braised short ribs. We both thought our dinners were okay... not great. The apple crisp dessert (laced with cardamon) was excellent. It had been probably 10 years since we had been here. With all the options in Madison, it will probably be another 10 before we're back.
Good food, good ambiance. Not crowded which kept the noise down.
Had not eaten at your establishment for several years and I won't let
that happen again.
We put it on the list of places to go .
Everything was fabulous!
Always enjoy the pleasant atmosphere and professional service
It was great to enjoy food and friends without having to shout to be heard. Always like to eat out for a birthday and this is a delightful destination.
We've eaten at the Stone House many times and have always found it welcoming. On our recent visit, we were especially pleased by the service -- from the hostess who showed us to our table, to the very accommodating waitress. The food was quite satisfactory; we had the duck and the veal dishes. The mashed potatoes served alongside the veal had a bit more garlic than is our preference. But the half duck was appetizing and more than filling. On this visit to the Stone House we were in a room we had not known about: it had only one table. This made for a very intimate setting.
The food was very mediocre considering the price. The service was ok...not outstanding.
Server - Jordan - was amazing!
Had the Best of Madison Friday night fish fry. Was not disappointed.
Quivey's is a more unique place with a good variety of food to meet everyone's taste. An interesting setting in an old stone home with a couple of floors. Service is always friendly, informative and not rushed. Great food!
Fish fry was yummy
