About Quince

Situated in San Francisco's historic Jackson Square, Lindsay and Chef Michael Tusk's celebrated Quince features a nightly tasting menu that highlights the seasonal bounty of Northern California. The cost of the tasting menu is $250 per person. Due to the complexity of the menu, it may not be possible to accommodate all dietary restrictions and food allergies. Please note, our current menu relies quite heavily on shellfish and dairy-based ingredients.

Chef Michael Tusk was named “Best Chef: Pacific” by the James Beard Foundation in 2011. In 2012 the San Francisco Chronicle bestowed a fourth star to Quince. In 2016 Quince was awarded its third Michelin star, which it holds to this day.

Quince requests that all cancellations be made at least 48 hours prior to avoid a $250 per person (plus tax) late cancellation charge; this policy applies to same day reservations as well.

We chose Quince for the 30th birthday dinner for our son and his partner - we are all foodies and looked forward to the dinner. The restaurant is beautiful - tables are far apart so you have privacy. Beautiful photos on the wall, gorgeous flowers, very classy. Our waiter was really friendly as was the wine steward and all our servers - no one was snooty and the staff answered all of our questions and were very relaxed and made us feel comfortable. The only issue was that we had very long waits before we received anything to eat or drink other than water. Also there was no wine served until after we received our first course. My son and I did the wine pairings and my husband and my son's partner each had two half glasses of wine - one white and one red. The offer of half glasses was really a great benefit. But the wait between our being seated and the first course was 30+ minutes, and the waits between courses was really long until mid-meal. After that the courses came faster - ironic as they were larger portions. The friendliness of all the staff made up for the waits. All of the food was artistically presented and many interesting ingredients. I enjoyed most of the courses - particularly the black cod, the lobster pasta, the caviar [we didn't get the upgrade but loved what we got], and the venison. The wine pairings were interesting and we had at least two very rare wines in this group. I have had better pairings but these were quite good. Dessert included a special candled cake for our son, and passion fruit dessert was lovely AND there is a dessert bar! The entire presentation of the diner was very beautiful. No regrets - expensive but worth it!

So bummed when we had to cancel our reservation at The French Laundry last month due to the wild fires. Luckily, we found Quince. The chef/owner Michael Tusk is an awesome. The service was over the top and the foods were amazing. We had such a great time. 😊

bravo !

The quality of their service really stands out and you never go wanting for anything. The food is so delicious, and the tasting menu progresses so seamlessly, that even though every dish is different, the whole meal feels like a well told story.
There are two optional add-ons to the menu, please consider taking one of them for extra delight

Très très bon restaurant, mais ne vaut peut-être pas trois étoiles Michelin, sauf le soufflé au chocolat qui était une vraie tuerie, un délice, un moment inoubliable, encore merci au chef pâtissier Français !

This was an exceptional experience and I couldn’t have had a better Birthday. The staff are all so kind and professional. We got to go meet the chef and eat at the chefs table for a course and it was so special I was in tears. Michael Tusk and his team definitely deserve their 3rd Michelin star. I especially wanted to acknowledge Sebastian our waiter and all of the employees who created such a memorable evening and one I’ll never forget.

This was an exceptional experience. We could see why it has 3 Michelin stars and other places we tried, like Gary Danko, have just one (just 1, I know, is a real accomplishment!). But the refinement behind everything at Quince is unparalleled - from the delicate artistry of the cuisine to such simple things as serving bread and butter. Highly recommend the wine pairing as well. You don't order off the menu; you just decide whether you want to eat there and they bring you what they are making that night, just go with the flow and plan to spend at least 2.5 to 3 hours.

This is a high end restaurant. They accommodate vegetarians well & also those who don't drink alcohol. We had their vegetarian tasting menu. The food was very good & creative, using unique items such as herbs & other ingredients. You have to leave 3 hours to dine here. Come here for a dining experience or special occasion. I am not giving it a 5 as the desert we got was not very good - essentially some chocolates, caramel & one other item - I would have expected a high end restaurant to prepare something such as a cake or mousse, for the price we paid of $250 per person, plus drinks, taxes, & tips. The Taj Campton Place still stands as my favorite high end place in San Francisco The 1st time we dined at Quince a few years ago one item came to us which was not vegetarian, but they more than made up for that error with the manager personally checking everything after & this time we did not have that problem. The 1st time we dined here, we were also shown the kitchen - very clean & organized.

Amazing food. The post 3rd Michelin star service, however, is an enormous and unfortunate distraction: they talk at you about the silverware and plates more than with you about the actual food. The last straw was when they left some corporate lifestyle magazine on the table, which we ignored and left behind. Why, when you reach the apex of food do you then try to turn your diners' attention completely away from...the food? I hope they lose their their third star so that we can get back to enjoying an exquisite meal.

This experience, and mind you, it is an experience more than it is a meal, was astounding. As my wife and I stumble away from the restaurant, still drunk on the wine, food, and ambiance from this restaurant, I've begun to question reality. Did this really happen? Did 3 hours really fly by that fast? Were we really sitting in the kitchen while they plated our food at one point? Did the soap in the bathroom really make your hands THAT soft? Did a gentleman in the wait staff really show us how to fold a napkin into a boot and a tuxedo? Was the food THAT good? Was the wine THAT good?

The answer to all of these questions is obviously yes. You pay the price for these types of experiences, it's true, but anyone that looks into dining at a 3 Michelin star restaurant should already have asked themselves one question: how much would I pay to have what will very likely be the best meal of my entire life?

As long as you're realistic about the answer to that question, there should be no confusion or ambivalence about what to expect. The experience is astounding. The staff is exceptional. The food and wine are amazing. 'Nuff said.

We went to Quince to the old location. The food was already awesome but now it's the dream of a foodie person. The place feels very cosy and romantic. The service is great. The food is excellent. 13 courses are a lot but definitely worth it to experience the whole creativity of Mr. Tusk. An awesome 3 stars Michelin restaurant.

This is our return visit since April of this year. Wait staff from our first visit actually remembered us and come by to say hello. One of them actually became the manager of their more casual restaurant next door also came and greeted us. There must have been hundreds and hundreds of customer since April and they convinced us that they actually remember us. How special is that? We have been to many 3 Michelin star restaurant that did not change their menu frequently. We were delighted that there were a few new dishes and variations on others. Of courses vegetables are fresh and from their own farm. Food and presentation were absolutely FIRST CLASS.
Chef's wife is a connoisseur and collector of fine, antique and unusual dinner wares. Her collection of one of a kind fine crystal martini glasses were so spectacular that we each had 3 Ketel One up just to see and drink out of them. Will come back to this restaurant every time we visit San Francisco.

It's my first time dining in Michelin 3 star restaurant. And it's the best service I never had. I love the caviar, bread and the black sea bass was cooked perfectly, but the desert was not that good for me. what I want to say is the geoduck with cucumbers was too general and I can't taste the geoduck from that dish. Whatever, it's a good experience.

This was our second visit to Quince, and it was once again lovely. My only real quibble is that, having asked in advance for a quiet table for the sake of the hard of hearing in our party, we were seated in the main room, which wound up rather less quiet than the side room that we had been seated in before. They offered to move us, but we understood from the waiter that it was something of a crapshoot as to how noisy the other few tables in the side room would wind up being, and thus we decided to stay. Otherwise a delightful experience, and we all left praising it.

For an $800+ meal, you ask yourself afterwards, "was it worth it"?

I think my partner and I will talk about Quince with fond memories and remember a few of the dishes in particular. Similarly, when we dined at Daniel in NYC when they were a three star Michlen establishment. We still talk about it years later.

Dining at Quince was truly a dining experience, not just a meal. And like a trip you take to somewhere amazing, you really never forget it.....and we will talk about this adventure years from now.

Really, each dish was unique and a work of edible art. And the dessert cart......I die.

Service was top notch. My only knock was that the wine paring was a very, very light pour. Understood, these are expensive wines. Maybe it should be mentioned that they are tastings?

Overall, wonderful from start to finish. Another one for the record books.

Quince is an other worldly dining experience of flavors, art and impeccable service. We had a wonderful experience from the second we made our reservation when they truly took our seating request seriously to the second we walked out the door and they handed us a cup of hot chocolate for the ride home and every second in between. Right up there with the greatest cuisine in the world, Quince is an incredible experience. It's not often you get friendly, fun service combined with amazing professionalism. Every bite of food was exceptional, even the couple ingredients that are not normally favorites were delicious. The wine pairings were brilliant, each selection perfectly complimented the dish without overpowering it, yet delivered a deliciously unique and interesting wine. The sommelier was extraordinary. And his knowledge of the wines and descriptions were extremely informative without being arrogant or pretentious. This is definitely a bucket list restraunt!
