It was a great meal on a cool fall evening. Their short ribs are fabulous!!!! Great comfort food on a cool night.
Been coming for years...worst dinner and service We have had...JT needs to improve his customer and serving skills...he may be a great bartender but should not serve food
We waited a very long time for our table. We had to seek out the hostess many times to find our the status. When we finally were seated, it took an uncomfortable length of time for the server to come by. We ordered a bottle of wine. After waiting for 15-20 minutes, the server never returned. We could not get anyone’s attention so we left without eating.
Great food and great service! I had the pasta bolognese where the chef exhibited s great hand! Wonderful flavor! The salmon with vegetables was a special accommodation for my girlfriend, wonderfully done! A great find on Nantucket!
I have had better meals, however we all thought the meals served were solid if not spectacular. We were looking for a restaurant last minute and most were full. We were able to get in to Queequeg's so we kinda assumed it would not be great. The ambiance is quaint and cozy, not upscale but also not too pretentious. The menu offered just enough items and were all quite satisfied with our meals. The steak, seafood stew, bolognese and lobster were all prepared nicely and of decent quality. (BTW, I think the menu is new, it did not match Open Tables so they need to update their website)
Service was very good and the prices - high for most areas - was moderate for Nantucket. Overall I would eat there again in a pinch, but not if I was seeking a real "foody" experience.
The bartender was so fun & courteous. The clam chowder was on of THE best chowdas in Nee England. The lobster bisque was lacking lobster. The hummus special was a culinary success. The beef short ribs was also amazing. The bolognese was lacking flavor. Ambiance was nice. Not too lout. Not too quiet.
Background: I'd eaten here 6 years ago and it was excellent. Sat inside at a two-top, ate a 3 course meal with wine and after dinner drinks and the tab came close to $200. Well worth it - so made a point of rebooking on my return this year. First of all - folks dining alone should be allowed a two-top table indoors if they choose. I was only allowed to make an online reservation at a "hightop". Would you refuse to seat a threesome at a fourtop? Figuring I might be able to make other arrangements when the restaurant opened, I arrived on time at 6pm. When taken to my hightop - outside - I asked if I could be accommodated inside the (empty) restaurant. The hostess was very obliging and asked if I would be done dining by 730pm. Not wanting to be rushed, and not wanting to sit on the street, the hostess offered me a twotop outside. It was a beautiful night. Fine. The server and busperson were very attentive - I told the server I wanted to relax and have a few glasses of wine throughout the meal. Soon I got my wine and the appetizer followed. Tuna Tartare - excellent. Half-way through the appetizer, my entree, Halibut and fingerlings, arrived via busperson. Not wanting to fluster him, I waited for the server to return - the couple dining at the next table noticed first and I raised my eyebrows to them and we agreed it was I should send it back. The server had no problem returning it - and I noted I didn't want it reheated. I finished my appetizer and she returned with the entree. It was reheated. It had good flavor but was dry and somewhat tough. In no mood to spoil the evening, I had another glass of wine, told her it was fine and ordered the creme brulee (not good - slathered in overwhipped cream (why?) and more sugar than custard), coffee and an amaretto. With 22%tip (why blame the server?), the tab came to $150 which would have been very reasonable if not for the kitchen being too cheap to cook up another portion of fish.
Duck dish was over cooked and served with a cold poached egg and bitter frisée. Our waitress acknowledged that no one was ordering and she took it off our bill. Cozy atmosphere.
Very nice dinner sitting at the bar. Food service and ambiance are all to shelf.
Waitress was outstanding. Friendly and attentive. Great.
I am so over kale!! The kale you use us so thought it is like eating holly leaves. Horrible salad!!! Town used the same tough kale. Why don’t you buy delicate baby kale.
We waited for more than an hour for our food
The menu selection, food preparation and service were all very good. A nice little haven in downtown Nantucket.
Food price was reasonable considering where we were but food was just OK
We visited during a recent weekend on Nantucket. We made a reservation in advance (which is recommended for almost any restaurant during the busy season). We were in the area earlier than expected and asked if they were able to seat us earlier than our reservation. It was a bit before the typical dinner rush and we were able to sit outside at a nice table. The restaurant is located on a quiet side street so it is easy to have a conversation. The food was very good. I started with the lobster bisque which was delicious. My husband had the beet salad which he enjoyed as well. I had shrimp scampi and my husband had duck. We both enjoyed the dishes very much. The waitstaff was very polite and professional. We did not feel rushed. Overall, we enjoyed the meal very much and it is a nice choice for a quiet meal.
Dinner was on the patio, and service was adequate, and not slow. Drinks were served promptly. Food was nicely prepared and flavorful. I had the halibut, which was pretty straightforward, but the drinks were very good.
Would go again
Everything was lovely. It’s always consistency delicious and pleasant.
Four us had different dinner selections - all were excellent! Cocktails were a good pour. We have been going for years, but this was the first time this year and we were pleasantly surprised to see some changes to the menu and the presentation kicked up a notch!
Very pleasant, excellent food
Excellent food. We sat outside and were very comfortable. Service was pretty good and they did not rush you at all.
Definitely will continue to go there.
Portuguese Fish Stew was delicious as was the Fresh Fish of the day. Beef Brisket less good - a bit like school dinners according to my son! Service was good and polite and efficient.
The tuna and mussel app was really great /
The lobster bisque was not good - don’t bother
Shrimp scampi was really good
My family really enjoyed our dinner. My husband loved his tuna appetizer and halibut dinner. I got the shrimp scampi and thought it was really good and had a generous amount of shrimp in it. My children are at that in between age where they are too big for the kids menu but can't finish an adult portion. The waitress was so nice and offered to do half portions of the shrimp scampi for them which was just the right size. Overall, the service was excellent.
Always solid on all fronts - well prepared food in a quaint environment with great service.
Wait staff hovering, tried to take my food before I was even finished, constantly asking how things were. Wait staff with what seemed like a bad attitude. Would not return or recommend this restaurant
JT was great! and the ability to sit in the "Nook" was a real treat for our out of town guests!
We had a table outside and the music was a little loud. We mentioned it to the hostess and they turned it down and offered to move us to another table. We stayed where we were and had a wonderful meal. I had the Portuguese Seafood Stew which was delicious. It was full of seafood and I almost couldn’t finish it. My daughters had the Bolognese and Shrimp Scampi and both were delicious. The Kale Caesar Salad and Beet Salad were also delicious.
We enjoyed our meal and the outdoor setting was nice. Service was outstanding.
One of our favorites! Staff are amazing and food is always delicious.
Our server was fantastic and attentive and the meals were amazing!
Service was ok. Food was average.
Queequeg never disappoints!
Great atmosphere, the food was very tasty but small portions.
Music was repetitive and horrible. Played Same song from Grease 3x. Awful.
This is a comfortable spot-and very well run. They do a lot of things well here - food, service, ambiance.
Kudos to management!
Everything about our experience was excellent. The server was friendly and accommodating, and alternate options for the kids were offered as well. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, and the food was delicious!
Love love love.
We will be back
It’s been years since we went and the food remains outstanding!
We had a great time at Queequeg - food was outstanding and the service was terrific. Will definitely go back!
As always, Queequegs was delicious and an enjoyable meal. The clam chowder is unique on the island and especially good. The rest of the party had the best salad, the chicken, the short ribs, and the steak frites. Savory and very good!
