Situated in the heart of the city, the restaurant at the Copthorne Hotel Newcastle has become a dining destination in its own right. The dining room is classically elegant with crisp white linen, high-backed leather chairs and warm, atmospheric lighting. The menu features international brasserie-style dishes like braised shoulder of lamb with red wine jus and seared cod with wild girolle mushrooms and fresh gnocchi. With the added bonus of a hand-picked wine list and charming staff, Quay 7 offers an upbeat and unpretentious setting for a mid-week lunch or a romantic dinner for two. In the warmer months, guests can watch the world go by whilst dining al fresco on the terrace – complete with panoramic views of the River Tyne.

Lovely views ,very good service and the 2 course lunch menu was£9.95 with very good food. 2 large glasses of wine were £12.50 bit pricey but overall a good experience.

Location and service excellent. Food was very salty and poorly presented. Chairs in the restaurant needed replacing covers torn and falling apart

It was my friend's birthday and she hadn't managed to book anywhere in time. I managed to book on the evening a few hours before and they were more than happy to accommodate 10 of us, and as requested, they put us on a lovely big round table, right by the window overlooking the river and they brought her a cake with candles on as a suprise at the end of the meal. The food was really, really good and at a very reasonable price. The bar in the adjoining room was nice.Only criticism was that it was quite cold

Unfortunately arrived to find whole of restaurant had been booked for a Christmas party. A "temporary" restauarant was set up in a meeting room which had no atmosphere, was cold and smelt of the swimming pool. Very disappointing. Staff tried hard and food was OK but not the same as a meal in the real restauarant

Unlike the guy on the next table, I had a good meal at Harry's Brasserie. Went for the £10 1-course deal inc glass of wine (there's also 2 courses £14.50, 3 courses £16.95). Had poached plaice plus a side order of chips. The fish was done nicely and tasted very fresh, and the chips were chunky, crispy on the outside and fluffy but firm on the inside. The guy on the next table had issues with his salad and his lamb shank, but I had no complaints.

A quiet night here but David the Scot was on hand again to give the standard of service I expect at a 4 star hotel's restaurant - his colleagues could take a leaf out of his book. A new menu system is now in place and it looks like small daily changes won't be occurring now. I ate from the set menu, having Tempura King Prawns to start (good relish) and Red Snapper for my main. The texture of the seafood made me think that they may have been chilled for a while but it all tasted pretty good.

Have eaten many times at Harry's Brasserie and have had some mixed experiences. However, most of the food has been very good and only the service has let them down. This time, all was well. Our Scottish waiter, David, was attentive and friendly. My mussels starter went down well! My main of Swordfish steak was tasty but the green beans and new potatoes were a little overcooked. My fellow diner enjoyed his main of pork medallions. The menu changes slightly every day, so always worth a look in..
