What Insiders Are Saying
Cater to your basic needs with small plates Italian food in River North.
Very good. Interesting process of bringing food at different intervals but it was delicious. We would return.
Service was terrible. Our waitress put in the wrong order so our breakfast skillet took 40 minutes. We were watching a sports game at the bar and the sound was very low and we couldn't even hear the commentator. For a bar that has a sports theme with waiters in jersey's, I certainly expected more. Food was mediocre at best.
Very crowded and noisy
I have been here 4 times in the last 6 months & it never disappoints! I was heading into city and hit a lot of traffic & they were very accommodating moving my reservation 15 minutes & holding it for me. Great food & fast service for dinner before an event. We even headed back there again after concert to have a drink outside on their patio.
Awesome dining experience. Great food and service. Eat here every time I visit Chicago...
What a restaurant.....!!
The best Italien food in the US we ever had.
If you are looking for a romantic dinner for 2, this is the wrong place to go. But if you want to experience REAL Italian cuisine in a festive authentic atmosphere, you have to go HERE!
This restaurant does Italian food very well! It's very authentic and I had excellent service as well.
Service was the worst I've experienced in years! Pizza and octopus took over an hour before serving. No apologies from server. Clearly she forgot to enter order. Mgr came over said he would comp 1st drink and food but comped wine over cocktail = less $. As a resident, they have been reduced to a tourist trap in quality of food and service.
El Cavatelli simplemente delicioso!!!
We went to Quartino as a family of 6 with kids. They seated us on time without any issues. However they were super crowded and took a while to take our order. They brought our food out in whatever order it was sent from the kitchen. Kids were super hungry and cranky since their dinner was out last. Wine came somewhere in between entree. The waitress was very nice, checked on us multiple times but she seemed pretty overwhelmed. Overall, food was good, service was not good, definitely not kid friendly.
Good food but loud atmosphere
Food was good but, server kept on forgetting drinks we order and only check on our table once. Every time we wanted something we had to flag him down and server seem moody. I work in service industry as well and I know if you want a good tip you have to put some good work. I know this restaurant is visited by tourists a lot and because of that you should make a good impression on your costumers so they tell their friends which would tell their friends and so on.
The food was subpar at best. We had to send back two of our table’s meals (gnocchi and the bolognese) and would have sent back the sausage risotto but we honestly felt bad if it had to be done a third time. Service was excellent though and our waitress was extremely accommodating which we really appreciated. Overall, not the best Italian food you could find in a large city like Chicago.
Our server was EXCELLENT. Very attentive.
My only complaint = the beef filet entree is too spicy.
The Hostesses were awesome. Part of my party was late and they weren't bothered at all. Great people! Great food!
The food was delicious. Some dishes were brought out before the previous ones were finished. Timing could be improved. I still would return. Great gluten free options which is important to me.
We always have a great time at Quartino. Excellent dining experience, sharing all of the fun dishes with friends, they accommodate large groups well and with reservations, and service is always excellent.
Food was amazing!!
Food was fair, service was poor. Our waitress was not very attentive.
So loud could barely hear Waitress did not explain very much regarding menu and it was very warm in the restaurant
We ate here for 3 of our birthdays and it was a fantastic. They gave us a lovely table on the outdoor patio. The family style food was awesome and we got a great free dessert that was delicious
Arrived early for our reservation and within minutes were pleasantly surprised to learn that we were being seated outside in the upper terrace---great area--less noise---beautiful night. Thanks Quartinos!
Outstanding restaurant. Casual, but excellent quality and atmosphere. Small plates were served family style so everyone in our party of 6 got to sample each of around a dozen dishes we picked out (including 2 desserts). Nice wine selections and friendly knowledgeable service. I'm glad we chose Quartino's for our last evening out in Chicago.
One of our favorite spots in Chicago for a family style dinner.
We witnessed service at its best at Quartino on Saturday night!! Our waitress had told us that our food would be coming out at different times from their kitchen so we didn't think anything about it when our pizza order didn't come out that two of us were sharing even though the other two in our party rec'd their food. Prior to us realizing there was a problem, the manager came over and apologized and asked if there was anything else they could get us while we were waiting for our order. By the time we left for the evening, the manager had stopped by 4 times, the waitress had apologized and made sure we were well taken care of, and they comped the pizza and our desserts. What could have been a very bad experience was fantastically handled by their staff and management and we left wowed for the evening versus being disappointed. On top of that, all of us loved our food from the pizza to the eggplant parm to the seafood risotta, to our desserts was wonderful. We will definitely go back in the future!! The only lower rating I gave on my review was to the ambiance as the restaurant is very busy and thus it is a pretty noisy and fast moving environment. This isn't your place if you are looking for a quiet peaceful evening.
Service was incredibly slow. Pizza was excellent. Ravioli was disappointing.
Excellent food and service.
Best Italian I’ve been had !
I have been here many times and I always enjoy it. My only negative is that inside it is extremely loud. Everything else is great!
Food was very good. Our experience with the hostess was very poor. We were told to move into the bar area while she cleared out the crowded entryway. We never heard from her until I went back to the hostess stand and asked if our table was available. She told me it had been for a few minutes but it was ok that we were not there at the time it was ready. She was clueless that it was her fault and tried to make it seem that we were at fault that we we not seated yet. The manager did come by to apologize and treated us to an app. The meal ended up being fine but the initial experience with the hostess was more than disappointing.
This place is not consistent. I was here on a Monday about 10 days ago and absolutely loved everything . This time , on 4th of July evening , the same meal was adequate : bruschetta , tagliatelle with meat sauce , I didn’t bother to order the homemade gelato . A disappointment.
Favorite date spot! The food is amazing and the prices can't be beat.
Consistently delicious and fun!
Great as usual.
Food quality was not as fresh as expected. Specifically the tomatoes on the caprese salad.
Absolutely a great find. Have recommended to many friends who come to Chicago often.
This is our must go to restaurant whenever we are in town.
Our server was AMAZING!!! We had a such a fun time as a family. Thank You quartino for providing a great dining experience!
We were in Chicago and had to try this highly recommended restaurant. The food, service and ambiance was excellent. I highly recommend anyone visiting Chicago to dine at Quartino.
