What Insiders Are Saying
Cater to your basic needs with small plates Italian food in River North.
Excelente lugar y servicio lo recomiendo al 100
Very authentic Italian food, great service, cheap wine. A little loud and crowded but totally worth it.
I love the concept of the Italian small plates. The pizza margarita was good. Billed as thin crust I would say it was the thicker part of thin. Brussels were under done. The pastas vodka and pomodoro were solid but not the best ever. The Shrmp Diovolo had a yummy kick. So give this a good not great rating. Nothing offensive but nothing to fall in love with. Servers were great and noise level is through the roof.
Wanted a table upstairs where it is less noisy. Even though I requested it on OpenTable, it was not available - the noise downstairs could only be described as a “din”!!
The hosts were not flexible at all.
I have always loved going to Quartino. I brought someone that had never been there before recently, and they loved it just as much as I do. Amazing food. Polenta fries are a musit try.
One of our “go to” place in Chicago. Always great. Love the pizza, meat/cheese plates and the truffle risotto. Nice selection of wines. We always go for the Monteplucciano d’Ambruzzo for wine.
Always a great dining experience. The highest quality ingredients are prepared intelligently and carefully to create the most amazing flavors. Coupled with an extensive and thoughtful wine list and delightful cocktails, Quartino is one of my top 5 restaurants in Chicago.
Food was good. Don’t like the small plate sharing aspect. Noise was crazy....people actually screaming to hear one another. We were seated upstairs?!
Amazing service! Waitress was cheerful and pleasant and offered excellent recommendations.
The food was incredible and just enough to fill us up. It’s a busy and hectic environment but the food and wine was worth it! The wait staff was also amazing!
We had a very large group. Amanda and Francisco were fantastic.
The seating arrangements were crowded; making it difficult for both customers and servers to get to tables. We were told the plates were family style servings; however, the portions were more individual.
We loved it, as always!!! Tortellini and their vodka sauce are amazing. Go for the chocolate cake dessert, best on the menu.
Food and atmosphere were great. Second time we have been there. Never disappointed.
Always a great meal! Love their small plates style of dining, Italian style!. Perfect for 2 people to sample a nice variety of dishes. Their Salumi Salad is very flavorful. Old-world Italian style with meat and cheese. The Italian fondue is a tangy and delicious twist on traditional fondue. Outstanding selection of wines with lots to. choose from at reasonable prices.
Amazing food & service!
Very friendly servers and chefs. We fully enjoyed time at Quartino.
Love Chicago-loved our experience-the service could not have been better. Flight was delayed-missed our reservation-they graciously honored it for the next night. Will recommend this wonderful place to anyone I know going to Chicago. Thanks.
This was our 2nd time at Quartino, we were visiting and once again enjoyed every aspect of our meal and experience.
Close to our hotel. Saw all the good reviews and wanted pizza but not traditional Chicago pizza. This place was so perfect- warm charming ambiance, excellent service and amazing pizza and Cesar salad! Great price for such fresh and quality items. The pepperoni was the best and that dough is my fav( crusty but chewing along the edge. Ingredients tasted so fresh!
As always, Quartino NEVER disappoints! Good was fantastic and service was GREAT! Thank you again for another great experience!
Extremely loud, but great food, and even better prices!
We hadn't been to Quartino in about a year and came here on Saturday night. Lovely energetic ambiance - great for date night or for fun group dinner. We were however very disappointed in our food. We ordered the lava cake for dessert and it came out a minute later cold. We communicated this issue with our waiter and asked for a new one, and our waiter came back a few minutes later with ANOTHER lukewarm lava cake. We've had this dessert probably 20 times in the past and it is always hot and fresh with the ice cream melting on top.
I know Saturday night rush is tough and they probably try to get ahead on popular menu items by having them ready to roll out, but our dessert was not enjoyable and really tainted the whole dining experience for us overall. Quartino used to be our favorite restaurant so this was very disappointing - we probably will not come back anytime soon.
The service was fast and felt rushed. The waiter kept saying - no rush, but stopped by the table so dang often. Maybe its because of the small plates format. The food was good, but not great. Could do better at home. The desserts were the best element.
The food is amazing and I would have given this place 5 stars, but the noise level and how tight the tables are make the overall experience a 4 for me.
It's a must every time I'm in Chicago! Kudos all the way around. Restaurant was very busy when we were there but as usual, the personalized service and efficiency of the staff and kitchen made us feel like we were the only ones there!
Great place to spend not a lot of money on a variety of very good food and vibe!
I always have a good experience when I come here! The food is delicious and it’s a very friendly, lively atmosphere. They were very accommodating about allowing us to bring a birthday cake in for my mother’s 85th birthday.
Service and food is always top notch. I always make an effort to visit whenever I'm in the city as well as introduce new people to it!
Great food & service!
Would definitely recommend!!
This was a very pleasant surprise. We wanted something within walking distance to our hotel with reservations open, and this fit the bill. Two of the four of us are foodies and were not disappointed by any of the dishes. The caprese with perfect, as were the items on the cured sampler. Procetto wrapped dates were incredible. The pizzas are the best wood-fired pies I can remember--chewy crust with great curated toppings--the veggie pizza was the best I've ever had. Italian but unique in size and selection.
Delicious food, services were great and place looked amazing!
As usual, the food was very good. The red wine (1/4L) was served a bit too warm. I know this is somewhat up to individual preference, but room temp didn't do it for me. Otherwise, very good.
The food is good, not great. For the prices, it's worth visiting.
Wait staff was great, she made great meal selections.
Great Dinner experience with lots of small dishes to share. Waiters where very kind and friendly.
I have to say I recommend this place a 10/10.... the dish I order wasn’t my favorite and they change it right away with no complain! Staff really friendly and food is good, after that my gnocchi were amazing
Excellent food and service!
This is an every time in Chicago destination for my travels. And I went twice this past weekend. Delicious small plates meant to be shared! My strategy is to order multiple courses, like starting with eggplant caponata and spicy shrimp (diavolo), move into tagliatele alla Bolognese and artisan sausage in peppers and onion; and finish with tiramisu or the canoli. Don't forget the wine! Make reservations (use OpenTable!) especially if you want to eat around 6. Otherwise, you might wait until 10 on a Saturday night. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Amazing food and perfect ambiance! Service was very prompt and the server very knowledgeable. Perfect for a first date or trying to impress a client.
