It was slightly crowded near our table but excellent food and service made up for it.
Excellent restaurant. Highly recommend this place. Food was outstanding, as was the service and atmosphere.
Had a 9:30 reservation, but meetings finished early so we stopped by shortly after 7 pm. An hour plus wait and the bar was already quite full. No surprise, but they did a great job of offering a few options close by to grab a drink while we waited. They knew we weren't on site so they waited a few minutes after texting that our table was ready (we ended up having an outstanding cocktail at Apogee (rooftop bar at the Dana)).
Service was great, from the hostess to the wait staff. We started with a cheese plate which was solid, and duck prosciutto which I definitely recommend. Next up was the bolognese and the short ribs which were excellent. Was absolutely stuffed, but had to try a scoop of each the lemon and raspberry sorbet. Perfect finish!
My biggest complaint would be that I wanted a bigger table to take advantage of the family style, but overall a great experience. Well done!
I had a great experience at Quartino. I have an anaphylactic allergy to tree nuts and our server did an excellent job of catering to my special needs. I was also part of a bachelorette group and he made sure than my allergy was taken seriously but also made sure our group was having a fun start to our night. The food was also delicious!
Great place for family and friends
Great food good service. The food comes out as it is ready so we ordered multiple small plates and enjoyed drinks off their cocktail menu.
We had a large group in town for business and our hotel concierge recommended this place. The server and manager were welcoming and attentive, including very accommodating of our request to add more to our table at the last minute and to bring part of our bill early for some members who needed to leave to make a show. Small plates were great for speed and sharing. Delicious dishes of toothpick skewered dates wrapped in pancetta with honey, homemade pastas with spot-on tomato sauce and soft fresh ricotta with a touch of fresh basil, the risotta was creamy, and many more dishes. Wine carafes came in quarter, half, and full sizes - like the choices. Gluten free pasta options fit our needs too. The restaurant was busy and our noisy group fit right in. Great!
First time to dine there but fantastic experience and wonderful menu and food. Highly recommend
Food was very average and didn't have a lot of flavor. Fun vibe though.
Delicious pizza. Variety of small plates, so everyone can find something(s) they like. Service is very good. Has valet parking, which is convenient given the location. Biggest downsides are that it is consistently really busy, they really pack tables close together, and the noise level ranges from "too loud" to "you will be hoarse by the time you leave" depending on where you are seated.
I wish Quartino did delivery/takeout, I'd probably eat there way more often.
It was good and reasonably priced. My wife and I had dinner there during our trip to Chicago. We weren't blown away by anything but we do recommend the restaurant if you want good Italian food with a nice atmosphere. The bacon wrapped dates were the best we've had. Everything else was good but nothing great. Service was great however! Bar area high tops are the best seats in the house and you don't need reservations for that. If the weather is nice sit on the second floor patio overlooking the street!
Authentic and traditional Italian cuisine
The noise level was extremely high. Our party had to move 3 separate times because we couldn’t hear eachother speak. It was completely distracting.
This Italian restaurant was packed on the Saturday night that we went, and for good reason: the food was incredible, the wine was nicely priced (1.5 glasses for $9!), and the atmosphere was so much fun! Since it was so busy, it was pretty loud, but I felt like that added to the feeling of being in a true Italian restaurant, enjoying a meal with lots of people. The ordering process is catered towards sharing dishes, which is what my family does anyways, so we got to try multiple dishes and loved them all. If you are expecting huge plates of pasta, you may be disappointed - this place is all about tasting good flavors, so the serving sizes aren’t the typical huge portions that many American restaurants offer. But after ordering appetizers (a selection of olives, sausage, and cheeses), the main dishes, and dessert (huge portions of gelato for only $3.50), we were stuffed and happy. Very, very happy.
Excellent Meal and great “small plate / half orders” to try a variety of dishes / applies to virtually everything!!!!!!
Service great / went 3 days ago both food and service and just as good the second time !!!!!
Love this place!
Great food and drink selections!!! Went around 2:00 p.m. on a Sat. Noise level was not bad...could still hear one another when talking. At dinner time, can get louder. Has a downstairs and an upstairs. Very friendly staff as well. Also, has a private room downstairs and I believe upstairs as well. Plates are meant to be shared.
Little cramped table for four, but the food and service was amazing. Table was wobbly, and when they noticed they shimmed it on the spot.
Amazing food, amazing wine, amazing service, and even more amazing people and staff!
Service was great, food was great, cost was great!
The service was excellent, the food to die for & the wine list superb! A must eat overtime I'm in Chicago!
This is some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. They serve everything small portions that you share at the table. Very reasonably priced. Excellent homemade pasta. The pizza was magnificent. Each pasta was delicious. We will come back here again and again anytime we visit Chicago. We had the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese and the Fettuccine Alfredo. They were magnificent.
Not really family style portions.
Dinner with friends. Service was a bit awkward and food was salty.
Great food and service! Too noisy for serious conversation, but vibrant and fun. On my favorites list.
Always a great time 😀 Great Lively Atmosphere - Great Food - Great Service.
Both my friend and I loved Quartino. True, it was loud and pretty crowded for a Sunday night, but there was a wonderful energy to the place! It was very fun and not so loud that we couldn’t easily converse. Very charming decor and ambience also.
The food was uniformly excellent, from the Italian bread for dipping up those wonderful sauces to the after-dinner decaf. Of particular note were the asparagus risotto and the mixed seafood (Brazzarrio?) in tomato sauce.
Not cheap but the portions were more than fair for a small plate restaurant. We had a pizza and small plates of salad and the two dishes mentioned above and there were leftovers.
I should mention that the service was wonderful! Attentive but not rushed at all. We lingered over our coffee and wine without feeling like the staff was trying to push out out. I suppose that is one of the upsides of having a restaurant that is so large. Anyway, we would definitely go back.
While the food was excellent and the service started out being very good, we were constantly pressured to pay and leave within 90 minutes or so of our visit to the restaurant. This negative experience tainted what would have otherwise been a delightful dining experience.
Overall pretty good. Tables tight together and very loud, but cute place. The food was mostly excellent with many "in house made" options including cheese!!! Yum! The price is also really good given the location!
We booked a reservation for eleven to take out our son and sone of his college classmates. We were seated on time and the service and food was excellent. We ordered several plates and a few pizzas and everything was served hot and timely. We'll definitely be back!
We were celebrating a birthday. Atmosphere, service, and food were great. I have already been recommending to others
It is a good restaurant. The ambiance was excellent and the service was good. I tried Linguine with Clams and white sauce, eggplant parmigiana, and braised pork shank. Eggplant parmigiana and braised pork shank were outstanding. I could say that the eggplant parmigiana taste similar to that in Italy. However, the linguine is too dry and the taste is too plain.
Had a hard time getting a reservation but I was worth it. The dinning experience was great from the moment the hostess greeted us, to the waiter who promptly served us to the rest of the staff who made our dinner date thoroughly enjoyable. And the food and drinks were top notch.
Very good service. Each dish comes out when ready which made it great for our two young kids plus the small plates meant a lot of things to try out. Very accommodating with requests such as switching sauces or leaving sauce off half a pasta dish. Would recommend and return in the future. Also the Italian donuts were delicious!
We were looking for an Italian restaurant to have an early dinner before seeing "Hamilton" on a Thursday night. Quartino was perfect--fancy enough to feel special, not so fancy as to be cost-prohibitive, with lots of choices for everyone. Our meal was all vegetarian--a simple romaine salad, cheese, pastas (spaghetti and gnocchi), pizza bianca--and it was all delicious. While nothing we had was incredibly unique, it was all delicious. We liked the look of the place, too, from the bread slicer and cheeses and meats on display in the salumeria case to the bathroom, with its subway tiles.
Also: The person I spoke to about a reservation let our server knew we were headed to a 7:30 show; our server was very attentive and made sure everything was delivered quickly.
Overall a great experience. It was very busy and he waitstaff was harried. But I was impressed with the restaurant. Good options for folks who don’t eat pasta too!
We hadn't been to Quartino in 5 years or so, and it's just as good today as it was then. Good service and fun atmosphere. Food was terrific, especially the house-made sausage.
Really good food. Service was fantastic! Would go back again!
Every time we come here it feels like we’re back in Italy. The food is amazing! Highly recommend!
Great food. I wish they could understand that sport teams NEED to pay using various methods! We had 10 girls total with different payments Most had cash, this was not allowed. One form of payment!?! Why does any other city find this easy< EXCEPT Chicago?
