What Insiders Are Saying
Cater to your basic needs with small plates Italian food in River North.
Excellent time at this restaurant, visited Chicago for 4 days, this was the best dining experience we had. Amazed with the dedication of the workers, they obviously are the reason for the success of the business. Positive attitude, hard working, extremely accommodative, prompt service, always smiling and very friendly. Our waitress was the sweetest server I have ever met wish I could remember her name. Don’t know who the owner is but everybody deserves a raise.... and the food is great!!! wish I could have thanked the kitchen staff personally.
This is the wife ... our waitress’ name started with a J ... Jaheim or something like that and the man who was clearing dishes was awesome as well ... so sweet!
We found Quartino is a very friendly atmosphere with excellent food and good service. As the evening got on the noise level clearly escalated as the tables are close together. In general a good place, but not one that I would go to for a quiet evening for a romantic dinner. Very friendly staff.
We came all the way from Wisconsin just to have dinner here! It is our favorite restaurant in the city!!
Usually have no complaints at all when dinning but for some reason that night was awful service!!
We were seated right as we got there which was great but our server was terrible; kind of got the vibe like she didn’t want to be there. The worst part though of our experience that night was when we received our entree. How do you bring out one persons dish of pasta and not the other?? I told her to eat because I wanted her to enjoy it while it was hot. Mine didn’t arrive until about 10 min. AFTER she was already done with her plate.
We honestly didn’t order anything more after that because of how our entree was handled. What’s even more terrible is that we were still hungry and had a taste for their pizza!
We ended up having to go a couple doors down the street to Pizzeria de Stato.
Had a fantastic experience. Food was great and all who were in our party loved it. Definitely noisey so if you quiet dinner this is not the place. Can't wait to go back!
Too loud and too crowded.
We came here to carb load before a half marathon and it was a great choice! My husband and I split a few things, invoicing the imported spaghetti pomodoro, the mussels and broccolini.. all was piping hot and fantastic. We left very happy and fueled for the race!
First and foremost, our server was fantastic! Secondly, the baby octopus was out of this world! Highly recommend.
Great food, atmosphere, and service. Can't beat it.
Not a fan. Group of 4 and there was hardly enough room on the table for drinks. The food is served sort of family style. Between utensils covered in sauce falling off the edge of the table onto clothes to having to bus our own table so we could eat, a terrible experience
Visiting from Dallas, Texas. One of our favorite stops in Chicago. Wonderful ambiance. Delicious food. The waitress, Chloe was really good at her job. She offered great food suggestions! Highly recommend this restaurant.
The food and service here is good but it does not offset the discomfort of the noise level. I think you can find a comparable restaurant where you can talk to others at your table.
Ordered soup, salad and pizza. Soup and salad were great and came out in a timely manner. Our server said the pizza would be out in 10 minutes. Twenty minutes went by and finally our server showed up and said “you didn’t receive your pizza?!” After a few minutes he returned to say the pizza got lost and he placed another pizza order for us without asking if he could put in another order. He just did it and said it would be ready in 10 minutes, which it was. No real apology. The bill came and no compensation made for the snafu, just “is there anything else I can get for you?” Said no, just the check please
Food was fabulous and generous portions. The appetizer sampler was wonderful!
Disappointing experience. I chose this place over a national chain thinking the food would be better but it wasn't. The eggplant parmesan was soaked in cheese and sauce and the eggplant was soggy and nonexistent. The mushroom and truffle risotto tasted muddy and generally didnt have much flavor. All of our dishes lacked salt. I don't plan to do back there.
The best service, food and ambiance! Will most definitely be returning! What a special graduation dinner/ Mother’s Day celebration!!!! Five Stars!!!!
It was wonderful
The food was pretty standard for an Italian restaurant. Cocktails were good. Our server, unfortunately we didn’t get her name, was great. The staff is the reason we’d go back.
Amazing waitstaff and the food is excellent! The garlic bread is amazing!
Quartino never disappoints!! Food is always fantastic and the service is 5 stars every time!
Great food! Server was horrible. Forgot drink order. Had another waitress come and help who also messed up the order.
Overall, it was just a very meh experience. The service was lacking in several ways: 1. we were a group of 8 who had to continually ask for more water/ went without any water for long stretches; 2. several people ordered soup and salad as their main meal (to come out with the brunch entrees) and they got them way ahead of everyone else, but staggered at different times, even from each other; 3. One of our entrees was forgotten about and had to be requested once it was clear it was not coming later. The food itself was just very bland and unappetizing overall; there were no standouts.
Great place for groups and celebrations. The food and service were good.
Came for Mother’s Day brunch with a group of 8, kids included. Great all around — food, ambiance, etc. Very friendly and helpful waiter. Loved the shared plates concept and appreciated that servings were not too small. Homemade pasta was superb. Lots of people but somehow didn’t seem too noisy.
It was particular loud — worse than usual. It was partially because of multiple bachelorette parties near by.
Our server is the best! This is the second time she was our server and once again her service and our experience was exceptional
Be assured Quartino is a taste treasure trove. In 2018 we ventured there and were overjoyed to have the rebound visit from Baltimore to Chicago be as rewarding.
Great spot all around.
Always a great place to eat and hang with good friends. Keep up the great work.
Our server Spencer was very helpful and explaining the menu. She also recommended a personal favorite pizza of hers and it was delicious. I would Definitley go back again and request Spencer.
A must dining location when I visit Chicago. Food is wonderful and portioned so you can enjoy a variety of servings across the menu.
Went for my brother’s college graduation. We had Margot and another waitress. Both were great but Margot really went above and beyond to take care of my elderly grandma and my 2.5 year old niece. I’ve always had great service at Quartino, but this was EXCEPTIONAL service. Makes me love this place that much more!
We loved it! The food was wonderful, the atmosphere lively, and the employees were very accommodating. Thank you!
The food was fantastic as always and our server was so sweet and helpful! Love going here
Quartino’s is unlike any other italian restaurant! Food is made fresh and comes out as soon as is prepared. We loved the things we ordered! Just be ready to order more dishes than the number of people in your party since the sizes are small.
Food was not great but service was fantastic. Do t bother ordering the Bellini, the octopus or the meatballs. Octopus was fishy, meatballs felt like they were boiled and served. The Bellini was expensive and canned . Too muchFruit pulp and hard to drink. Server was nice and listened and tried to fix what he could. Not going back!!
Fantastic restaurant with an amazing ambiance. The food is always on point and would highly recommend to firends
Amazing food- please reconsider your space to guests.
Slow service. Always busy. Food meant for sharing
