What Insiders Are Saying
Cater to your basic needs with small plates Italian food in River North.
The food was fantastic. It’s so much fun to share small plates with friends.
Great food and wine! Fantastic wine list!!!
Food is supposed to be like small plate and shared, so comes out at random times. We waited over 30 min for one friend to get her food. We were all done with our plates as they came out very fast. All the food was delicious though and well priced!
Food was great but the service was even better. It was packed but our waitress Alyssa still took the time to give us great recommendations and have a conversation with us. She even gave us a free dessert! So sweet. Get the meatballs and the ribbon pasta with meat sauce.
Very fun place with delicious food. The menu is quite extensive with plenty of options. We loved the small plate concept so that we could try a variety of dishes. The only thing you should be aware of is the crowded seating and loud environment.
AMAZING dishes we tried & LOVED ~~~~
Caprese salad, roasted beet salad, cavatelli, shrimp risotto, eggplant parmigiana, & DELICIOUS dessert— torta al cioccolato (warm chocolate cake w molten chocolate lava). Service was awesome. Plates come out as soon as prepared. DELICIOUS!!!!!
Very very busy. The food was good but one of our appetizers got lost In the shuffle. The service was great.m and the menu had a lot of options.
We chose Quartino to have dinner with my daughter and son and to meet his new girlfriend for the first time. Perfect choice! We have always said we weren't going to go to downtown Chicago on St Patrick's day (Eve) but we did it this time and were happy we did. Quartino has normal Italian entree's but specializes in Italian-style Tapas. We decided to go with the Chef's choice for appetizers and were pleasantly surprised with the selection. Prosciutto, Fontina and Romano cheese chunks, Italian bread, Italian olive assortment, a mango based sauce, a candied mustard infused sauce (yum!) and salami slices. Delicious! For our main course we each chose a favorite. The wait staff brings out each dish to pass in perfect sequence to keep us occupied while not eating too fast. Our server was energetic, funny, prompt and checked in with us often to make sure we were satisfied. We finished off with some dessert selections (Tiramisu of course), cannoli and a light flaky donut-like pastry with apricot and chocolate dipping sauces. Oh so good! The highlight of the evening came when a group of Irish bagpipers entered the restaurant and serenaded us! The perfect evening!
Amazing food, amazing service! We loved every moment.
I am originally from the area-but now live out of state. We come here every visit back.
Quartino has great food, friendly staff, good wine, and very reasonable prices. I love taking friends and family there. Never get tired of Quartinos.
Amazing. Great food. Good service.
Service was amazing. Our server was very accommodating. Food as always was great.
We love this restaurant. The service is always spot on and the food is great to eat and share. You will not be disappointed.
This is my second trip here. The first time was with my parents and we really enjoyed the experience. This time I went with a few co-workers for my birthday celebration and they treated us really well.
They need to teach servers to leave you alone. Constant pressure from servers to order more, eat and drink quick so they can free up the table for more fat tips. Owners sh
Great food, large portions, service got a little fragmented towards the end but overall great experience. Good place to go with a group that wants to have a good time and linger, but just as nice for couples too. Great meal!!
Always love this place!
Very busy atmosphere, but food was delicious!
The most authentic tasting Italian I’ve had since going to Italy! Everything was incredible!
Great food and service; very noisy to a point where you had to yell in order to communicate.
It was pretty packed, I'm glad I had a reservation or I might of had to wait awhile. The food and drinks were great. My friend and I shared fondue and she got a pizza and I got the short rib. All of it was delicious. I'll definitely be back.
Nice wine list fairly priced, loved the veal meatballs and the pancetta ravioli. Service was excellent. It can be quite loud as it was on a busy Saturday night but otherwise outstanding.
We have dined here pretty regularly over the years and generally enjoy ourselves. On this occasion and the last occasion we dined here, we had some issues. The last time, we were seated 20 minutes late, and this time, we were seated at a table next to the kitchen. We usually take out of town guests here, but it’s become unreliable. Our server seemed generally uninterested in our table and despite bringing up our frustration with the table to the host that seated us and the server, it was never addressed. This might be our last visit.
I used to LOVE this place. Everything on the menu was always delicious. This time around, 3/4 dishes were average at best. Willing to give it another shot, maybe it was an off night?
I've visited Quartino's many times. The food is wonderful - small plates so meant to be shared. There is something for everyone on the menu. My only complaint is the noise level/space on the first floor. It was difficult to hear the people at my own table talk as the tables next to us were INCREDIBLY close. We had to move our table a few inches as another party sat down.
Great meal with great service. Everything was well prepared and true to their promise, served when ready. The appetizers were especially delicious. Our waiter was spot on, friendly and prompt. Only minor complaint was the table was a little small. Made it a little tricky juggling the plates as they arrived and passing back and forth between my wife.
Absolutely amazing food!!!! We loved it so much and just everything about this place was great!!! I got the penne ala vodka and added chicken and it was so delicious!! One of my friends got the pappardelle al sugo di manzo and I have to say that was hands down the best meal on the table. The veggies from the veggie section of the menu were also good. And we did the Quattro formaggi pizza as an appetizer - really delicious. The cheeses were so mouth watering while the pizza was in your mouth already. The tables were really close together, so it was annoying to hear the table behind me’s conversation, because they also had music on, so it was pretty noisy in there. But other than that, everything was great.
Good portions, incredible variety, massive wine list
I loved the food, service and value, but it’s not a place to go if you intend to have a conversation. My communication with my server consisted mostly of pointing and hand signals as the noise level was at freight train levels. All that being said, I am a regular and will continue to do so.,
We have been here many times and this time service was not good. Our waitress disappeared, drinks were always empty and several dishes must not have been ordered because they didn’t show up until we flagged down a manager. The MOD was responsive but waitress only showed up to drop off a check.
Quartinos is the absolute best!
We were seated right away, and our server was amazing! Constantly checking on us and having a great attitude the entire time!
Service and Brad were fabulous other than that high price, small portions, and suboptimal Italian
Birthday dinner was great. Staff was nice and very accommodating.
Food is always consistent. Service can be hit or miss, especially the front of house in charge of seating.
Lively and loud. The service was great and the food tastey! Great Italian small plates.
Another sublime experience. I like to eat upstairs for business and downstairs when I entertain family and friends.
Great restaurant. We had some issues getting seated since they gave away my reservation to someone else. Besides that it was a great time.
Amazing menu with unique and diverse options. Try the charred octopus !
