Even though it's in Midtown, this multi-level meat market serves up one of our favorite steaks in town, and it's not what you might expect from a steakhouse in the area.
Our meals were Outstanding! We enjoyed the charcuterie board, tuna, scallops, filet and even the amazing corn Brûlée! Awesome! Will definitely return!
Excellent food, great atmosphere, beautiful setup, service not so much, but I'd still come back and dine at Quality Meats anytime!
More of a novelty show than a real steakhouse, this restaurant is trying too hard to be different, from the fried onion rings (really?) on the tomato salad to the breading (yes) on the creamed spinach to the bizarre bacon-themed apps. Unfortunately their quality control does not live up to billings as our porterhouse (ordered medium rare) came out so undercooked that the center was cold. Service indifferent and chairs really uncomfortable. There are much better options out there!
Quality Meats is always excellent, and this occasion was no different. The food was fantastic, though it seems like there are some items available that aren’t on the menu that would have been nice to know about. Service was very good. We will definitely be back.
We came here for a special occasion. Our waiter was very nice and sold us on the bacon platter, which was delicious. By 530, the place was packed and our waiter's section was full. I know steak is supposed to rest before being eaten but our steaks arrived a little past peak. They were still delicious and perfectly cooked to order. The icecream was also fantastic.
We had booked this restaurants for our main evening in NYC. This turned into the most disappointing meal of any of my NYC visits. Staff were really nice and even changed our table when we sat next to a rowdy table. The porterhouse for two was delicious on the filet side but on the more fatty side it was stringy and my boyfriend actually had to spit out the meat at one point. Started out ok but on the third piece he gave up. When we told the waiter they didn’t seem to take it in and just referred to fat when it was in fact not chewable. To make up for it they were about to give us free deserts but we didn’t feel like being there anymore and asked for the cheque, fully expecting them to have at least removed half the steep price for the beef. But no. Cheapest bottle of French wine was $85 and in total we paid $300 for steak for two, bottle of wine and two sides: the famous corn and some carrots, plus tip we felt
we had to give as the waiters were fab before we told them we couldn’t eat the meat. We come from the most expensive country in the world but it would have bought you twice that. The corn was super sweet so beware if you like salty food. The house sauce does not add anything to the flavour and we were not offered any other sauce but I read that they do have some.
The service was excellent and the vibe was great.
Fantastic cuts of meat. Great service and great ambiance! Loved the dinner
Food was fabulous!!!
Food was great but service not very good. Felt rushed and not helped.
Amazing food and service great recommendations from Daniel Collins fro smith and wollensky
From start to finish, Quality Meats provided a perfect business lunch! I was greeted immediately as I waked in by the friendly hostess. I had a soda at the bar while I waited for my guests to arrive. The bartender was also friendly, attentive and professional. Then the wait staff was perfect as was the food. The lunch filet and grasshopper dessert were both perfect! Excellent meal and experience.
Great experience, excellent and tasty food. Everything was absolutely great.
Great food , service was good, best chocolate cake dessert !
Great food and great service. Expensive and very loud. People packed in like sardines. If you want a boisterous bustling buzzing night with good food this is the place for you.
Quality Meats was recommended to us by a friend who lives in NYC. Our meals were delicious but I was expecting to be blown away by the food based on other reviews. I had fish and my boyfriend had filet. Both were good but the side dishes and appetizer were the highlight of the meal. The bacon and peanut butter and jalapeño appetizer was so interesting and flavorful and the corn creme brûlée was mouth watering. It's really noisy and the tables are very close together, so if you are looking for an intimate setting, this isn't the place. The service was great and we weren't rushed, even though the restaurant was packed.
We all enjoyed our meals bone in rib eye filet and ribs
The waiter was very attentive and handled our many food allergies
confidently The service was timely and a good time was had by all
including a 4 year
My family had dinner here on Tuesday evening, 4/18/18, to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday.
We had reservations at 5pm and it is important to know that is the first seating so if you arrive before 5pm, the restaurant is not open but you can sit in the bar area and enjoy a cocktail. They did seat us promptly at 5pm.
We sat on the second floor and had an excellent server. The dining room was larger and beautiful but the lighting was pretty low and made reading the menu a bit of a challenge.
The wine list is extensive as well as expensive (even for wine by the glass). They did offer a pretty cool option of ordering a half carafe or bottle from a huge bottle which did offer a better value (I thought) and an experience.
For dinner, we ordered steaks, a variety of them, and all were awesome, cooked exactly as ordered: medium was medium, medium rare was medium rare, etc. You would expect that to be the case for the prices being paid but I have eaten at some very high-end restaurants throughout NYC and this is not always the case and it is disappointing when it happens. NOT the case here, just perfect. We also ordered the Waffle fries, the crispy fries and the gnocchi's, no greens. They were delicious as well and portions were fine for the 5 of us.
For dessert, we ordered the mint chocolate chip cake and they surprised my daughter with a Happy Birthday plate with marshmallow ice cream. That was also amazing and very generous of the staff.
Overall, this is one of the finest dinners I have ever been to. If you are looking for a high-end NYC steakhouse experience, I would highly suggest Quality Meats. Just make sure to bring your wallet b/c it is not cheap but with that said, it is awesome.
Fantastic food-refined, aggressive but also playful. Environment is at once cool and comfortable and the service is attentive without being overbearing. Fantastic experience!
Waiter was amazing. Food usually amazing but steak was tough this time around. They totally took care of me even though I wasn’t asking for any discount. 100% will be back. Service is out of this world. Best in the city.
Excellent steaks and service!
We had an exceptional meal at Quality Meats. The bacon peanut butter jalapeno appetizer was amazing. The steak was flavorful and Incredibly tender, we highly recommend the parmesan waffle fries and grilled asparagus. The wine list is extensive and Cocktails were delicious. This is a loud, high energy restaurant which is not what we usually enjoy, but we will definitely go back.
It’s our go to restaurant for a great steak dinner. Everything is delicious, from the starters, sides and entrees and desserts.
Incredible food and service!
It was amazing!! Mathew was awesome great service high recommend
Though expensive for every day dining, when you want a steak that won’t disappoint this is the place to go. Everything would be perfect except the hostesses need more customer service training. They are your first point of contact when you arrive at the restaurant and therefore can set the tone of the dining experience. This is about the 3 rd time I have come within the past year and not happy with the hostess nor their greeting. The attitude can be left outside on the curb.
Took my wife for her Birthday. « Best Birthday Ever « her words. The food was amazing!!!🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿 The Servers were sensational!
They’ve got a lava cake I think it was with a very small ice cream but, best desert i’ve Had in a while.
Absolutely delicious! Loved the filet mignon and age prime rib with the side of corn creme brulee!
Not just quality meat.
Lovely welcome, all steaks high quality and cooked to perfection - exactly as requested. Sauces a bit uninspiring, steak sauce ok, poivre sauce pretty gloopy and reduced too much but only minimal used as an accompaniment so it didn’t impact on the steak which was the star of the show. Sides of roasted potatoes and broccoli and cheese bites were ok. Quality meats indeed.... but perhaps need bit more attention to accompaniments. In Scotland, perhaps we are too used to steaks, sauces, sides, including high quality fresh vegetables, all being equally exceptional.....not just the steak. Would recommend though if in NYC.
It was a disaster from the beginning with the hostess you just decided to walk way ahead without evening letting us know to follow her. Totally rude!
Then the server we were assigned was completely unhelpful with the food, wine and clearing the table properly.
The most basic and fool proof thing to get at a steak house, especially one called “Quality Meats” is the filet minon but boy did they get it wrong! It had a very strange flavor and it had these tough parts and fat??!!! You’re supposed to be rewarded with a lovely tender cut of the tenderloin and it’s supposed to be tender!
Extremely disappointing meal! We will never go back here again.
Everything about it was excellent.
We had high expectations for this restaurant - we went for our anniversary. However, the server was terrible. We had to ask for every little thing multiple times (menu, bread, water), and only saw our waiter twice the entire night. We felt like he wanted nothing to do with us and it set a bad tone for the night.
High testosterone meat palace does not disappoint! Great ambiance and high energy crowd combined with delicious steaks makes for great business dining. Expansive wine list. Bring
a lot of $$.
The food was excellent. The preparation was also excellent. The service was excellent and exceeded my expectations. This restaurant is clearly a "must" return.
Server was outstanding: Very attentive, made hood recommendations.
We were disappointed this, our third time at quality meats. We are adventurous and like to try house specials. The flavors were not palatable on a few of our choices to all three of us eating. We shared a Rib Steak, Bone in Filet and Tuna. The White asparagus special, none of us liked and we all really weren't crazy about the Tuna which is so unlike us. It wasn't busy but the service was lacking towards the end of our meal. After dinner drinks came after coffee and desserts were finished. Last two times were better could have just been an off night.
One of our favorites. Top meat cuts in the city. Spectacular appetizers and drinks as well.
The steaks are great. The non-traditional apps and sides are better than almost any steakhouse in NYC.
