About Quality Meats

Quality Meats is a contemporary restaurant that serves a rustic New American menu.
The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.

It’s beautiful inside. Need to book reservation early. The food is killer. We got the porterhouse to share. The fillet portion was so smooth. Must get the Corn Creme Brûlée side dish.

Food was ok. Had crab cake and for $22 and 1 cake expected it to taste like the best 1 cake on the plate. Had bone in filet and was ok the bone marrow on side was a nice treat, my son had the 10oz filet and loved it was pretty good. Had 2 servers. One was a rude lady didn’t ask if drinks needed a refill felt like we were putting her out. Meanwhile her help was nice he had to keep things going smoothly actually seemed to serve and care. High end steakhouses are not new to us so it was a bummer to go in with high hopes and miss the mark. Good luck.

Jess was fantastic. We are from the south but my husband swears it was the best rib steak he’s ever eaten. Expensive wine list but incredible food! We loved the butchers plate app, the cream corn was to die for and we had a complimentary desert for our anniversary! Would recommend. We just had a vet loud table next to a Christmas party- could have asked to move but stuck it out.

I entertain a lot in NYC and I've experienced many quality steakhouses. Quality Meats has a lot going for it (décor, energy, location), but the food, in my opinion was overhyped. I had the filet, which was just ok. for what they charge, I was expecting it to be terrific. My guests ordered salads, which they all seemed to enjoy, but I found ourselves spending way too much time discussing the side order of fries that we ordered for the table. If you enjoy shoestring, crispy fries, don't order them. If you prefer a mixture of soft "waffle fries" and soft, mushy mini potato patties, then go for it, because that's what you'll get.

If I have a client who asks to return there, I'll go. If I'm making the choice, I'm sticking with Bobby Vans, Smith & Wollensky, The Palm or Keens.

We chose Quality Meats for my wife's birthday trip to New York based off of a recomendation of a co-worker. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservations and had to wait a small amount of time...this was no problem. The actual dining experience left a bit to be desired. When we got back to our table, my wife and I were suprised at how loud the restaurant was. We were frequently having to lean in and ask each other to repeat something because of the noise level around us. The service was average in comparison to other places we have been in New York. My wife and I had differing opinions of our meals. She had the filet and commented that it was probably the best filet she has ever had in her life. My rib steak was ordered medium rare, but most of it was over cooked with the exception of a half inch section next to the bone. It also looked as if the chef attempted to prepare it Pittsburgh style by giving it a charred outside. Any other nice steakhouse I have been to asks if you want it this way, and this was not the case at Quality Meats. Overall it was a good experience in NYC, but I would probably go elsewhere in the future.

Food was not that good outside of the bacon app which was really good. Steak wasn't seasoned great and wasn't cooked properly at all. Sides weren't good either - especially not for the price they charge. Too many steakhouses in NYC to go here

Excellent food and service. While a small place with crampt dining space, it adds to the charm and feel of this unique restaurant. Definitely not the old time steakhouse experience. We look forward to trying the other Quality restaurants.

High quality meats, the chef not so careful at the cook (I asked my dry aged rib to be rare and they brought it medium rare to medium, interesting drinks list, but the bartenders are very arrogant.

Have been here many times it’s our standard go to place. Tonight it was disappointing. Meat was very salty and my wife’s medium was only half medium the other half was well done. Waiter was nice but they were not as friendly and welcoming as in the past. Will think twice before trying again.

Hostess was awful, party of 8 with 2 tables and expected to have half of the party seat first and then when available then seat the other half of the party. Another front employee was able to seat us at the same time and even found to tables next to each other.

This was our second time visiting Quality Meats and I think it may have been even better than the first time. The front staff was so accommodating, the ambiance was lively and fun, and the food was superb. Everyone in our party can once again say that “this is the best steak you’ll ever have!” Thanks again for a wonderful experience. We can’t wait to return!

Would never have tried the bacon and peanut butter appetizer but our server recommended it and I can’t stop thinking about it. So unique and delicious. Also loved the gnocchi and cheese and creamed spinach. The steaks were “quality meat”. Expect to spend some money but it’s absolutely worth it.

Overall, the food was great however the service was subpar for a NYC restaurant given the numerous options there are for a good steak. Food took over an hour to arrive at the table even though dining at 5:00pm.

This is very much a corporate midtown dining restaurant, having said that, for the food the value tallies in across the board for the price-point (high end) for midtown, the wine list is decidedly overpriced...what do you do? If you want to dine in this area at this type of restaurant, I have eaten here several times i just wish the wine list was more accommodating!

From the time we arrived and were seated, we were treated like royalty. It started with a complementary bottle of fine Italian champagne to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The food entre’s were prepared exquisitely and served magnificently. While the food was served in a timely manner, but we never felt rushed in any way. Couldn’t have asked for more delightful evening.

Went for my birthday, loved the fod and ambiance ! the spinach , porterhouse steak, and ghonni and cheese was beyond good. They gave me a lemon meringue pie to celebrate which was also good! And even my cocktail was good. Service great! This is definitely a date spot, girls night, birthday and even business friendly establishment. If it is on your to do list please go!

Both filets we ordered were tough and overcooked. We returned them to the kitchen. When we asked the waiter why they were still on the bill, he said he would tell his manager. The manager came to the table, apologized but would only take one filet off the bill. For a restaurant that calls itself “Quality Meats,”they should stand by their brand promise.

Highly overrated! Filet was not particularly tender. Halibut was small and served on cold potatoes in a bowl shaped dish that did not allow for placing asparagus on the plate. Asparagus was old n not particularly tender. Service was nonexistent. Server couldn’t even wait to take the complete order and had to be called back to the table, never asked how our meal was, had to be reminded to bring the asparagus, never refilled water glasses, and generally didn’t seem to care if we lived or died. Only the coat check girl showed interest in our experience and referred us to the manager who was apologetic and wanted to give us some credit for next time but there will be no next time.

We were planning a trip to NY over my husband's birthday so I did a quick search for steak places in Midtown, and this one came up. He's a big fan of Pat LaFrieda (if you can be a fan of a butcher?) so I knew this was the place. We met some friends and had a table for four within a few minutes of our reserved time. Was glad we booked early because it was packed! It has a lively atmosphere, a bit loud as other reviewers suggested. But the steak was delicious, as were the sides. Furnishings and decor are amazing; the place is quite a bit larger than it looks when you enter. The staff was very friendly and helpful across the board. Would definitely go back!

The meal was great and the chocolate cake was to die for. The options for sides on the lunch menu was limited and we were looking for potatoes either hash or mash and the fries were underwhelming. The appetizers had two crab dishes perhaps a tuna poke or bacon slab would have been nice to have a variety.

Lovely dinner with friends . Our second visit to this restaurant and were very much looking forward to returning , however, this time my filet mignon lacked taste and for the first time I had to ask for a salt shaker. My husband had the aged rib eye and had the same comment. The steaks were just barely warm. Otherwise, we had a good time with our friends. Staff very friendly and attentive.
