The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.

What Insiders Are Saying
Even though it's in Midtown, this multi-level meat market serves up one of our favorite steaks in town, and it's not what you might expect from a steakhouse in the area.
I had a tight schedule and made reservations. We still had to wait 45 minutes
We had a 730 reservation were seated at almost 830. Normally we wouldn’t care, however my sister in law had a baby sitter so was on a time crunch. Once seated not one but two managers came over to apologize and immediate sent over extra appetizers and then dessert in the house. When we left the hostess also came over and apologized for the inconvenience. We get it since I was in the business for many years . All and all they went over and above on what they needed to do. Will definitely go back just not during busy season . . Thank you to them. Will def recommend it.
Amazing! Highly recommend!
What a terrible disappointment. I was told that Quality Meats was owned by the same organization that owns Smith & Wollensky and (until it closed) The Post House. Two spectacular steakhouses. Everyone at our table ordered steaks. They all were awful - tasteless, tough, flavorless. The Yorkshire Creamed Spinach came in a bowl with the spinach inside a Yorkshire Pudding / Popover. The spinach was bland - and there was not much. Most of the space in the bowl was taken up by a chewy, tasteless Yorkshire Pudding. The shrimp in the shrimp coctail were not nearly as large as adverertised. The restaurant is terribly noisy and crowded. Don’t expect to be able to have a conversation unless you like to shout. The only redeeming factor was our great waiter. Very nice, efficient and helpful. Bottom Line - if you want quality meat to somewhere else - Porter House, Wolfgang’s, any place but not Qualtiy Meats
One of my favs in midtown. Been here many times before with great food and service. This Friday night was particularly overcrowded due to the holiday season. Steak was brought to us lukewarm but all sides were wonderful. Waiter was annoyed he was working. Hardly said a thing or offered any assistance. Bill for two was $240 for two steak dinners, 2 entrees and 3 glasses of wine.
Awesome Birthday experience!!
Service was super slow and not very attentive. “2 pound lobster roll” was mostly arugula with a thin layer of shredded lobster. Tasteless. Butternut squash soup was good. Husband’s steak was prepared well as ordered
Comida excelente pero nos tuvieron más de 45 minutos esperando una mesa que estaba reservada previamente
Quality Meats hit some marks and missed others. Two of us shared the porterhouse and it was tremendous. The side potatoes were average and the asparagus was overcooked. Another in our party had the special...surf and turf. The first filet that came out was well overcooked. He sent it back and the second one was good, but the lobster topping was cold.
We had an 8:45pm reservation, but did not get seated until 9:45pm. The host took care of us with a free round of drinks and an appetizer. Still, we were planning on eating dinner before 10:30pm.
I would go back for the porterhouse, but not for other elements.
We wanted to like Quality Meats.
1) The one menu item we were so looking forward to - East Side Short Rib for Two - they were out of. It is the fourth pic on Instagram and looked delicious! How does that happen? You're a steakhouse and you're out of meat?
2) The wine list: by my rough count of 400+ bottles, fewer than 10 were less than $100. None were less than $70. A well constructed wine list should have a range of prices that should be accessible to all customers, not just "bros", bankers and the expense account crowd. Looking around, the clientele included couples, friends and families and few had bottles of wine. You priced them out.
3) Service: inattentive, food took very long - 20+ minutes for a crabmeat cocktail? 40+ minutes for a steak?
Overall, I would not - and will not - recommend Quality Meats. It was a profoundly disappointing experience.
Favorite steak restaurant in NYC
The steak was okay, could have been better. The menu was sort of limited... appetizers weren’t very admirable.
A great overall experience. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. It was a tad too loud for me, but nothing to the point where I would discourage someone to go. But if you’re looking for a quiet romantic evening, this is not the spot. But for delicious food with a happening atmosphere, definitely hit this location!
Clearly it's a busy lunch restaurant but the seating process and coat check seemed confused and it took a while to get seated - the first table offered was really cramped and directly between two large groups (declined it) and then it was "take whatever two top you want" on the upper level. We got menu's and water and then waited for 10 - 15 minutes for a waiter to take our order. Salads are great here, not too big. I've been treated better here before - but this time was a bit of a let down on the basics.
By far our favorite NYC restaurant! It is a must visit for each trip to the Big Apple.
Was everything we had hoped this trip would be. Holiday break and booked in advance. Staff could not have been more helpful on a very cold evening. Food and atmosphere were amazing
The ambiance and the service were perfect. The food I was let down by. I was recommended QM as the place to get your steak cuts, and while the steaks were good they seemed to lack that ‘wow’ factor. The sides were small in portions and not hot. I would’ve preferred slightly larger portions and food that was hot and not simply warm or slightly cold.
As for the steak - I ordered medium/rare and the cut came back more medium than rare. The desserts menu was also lacking and not many variety of choices.
All in all I liked the restaurant and would probably go back for something other than steak. Location and decor were perfect.
Love this place! This was my 2nd trip and everything was perfect!
Great place to celebrate our engagement!
Great steakhouse, food was amazing, took a while longer than the tables around us to get our entree after the appetizers.
Last year we went to Quality Meats for our wedding anniversary and had a great meal (ordered the porterhouse for 2). Unfortunately, this year we did not have the same positive experience. Ordered the Rib Chop for 2...very gamey. Did not taste like prime quality beef. Very disappointing.
Good food but rushed service but overall I would recommend it for the food alone
Meal was decent, but overall we were disappointed. Seafood bouquet was excellent, tuna crudo was okay, but the $98 short rib was half fat and we couldn’t eat it.
Totally disappointed in this over hyped restaurant. It was not our first time to Quality Meats and we were looking forward to a lovely evening. Our party included my wife and my 10 year old daughter.
The evening began when we were seated at an awkward table for 3, right beside a large and extremely loud table of 8.
After a few minutes we realized there was a fan blowing on our table.
After asking 3 different staff members and having to ask one staff member twice, the problem was finally alleviated, but it took 45 minutes.
No one apologized for the inconvenience, they only made excuses as to why the fan kept starting up.
When our meal arrived, my steak was luke warm, my wife's was not cooked properly and had to be sent back to the kitchen.
Our waiter was neither rude nor excellent, just indifferent, like we were an inconvenience to him.
Food great as always, had to add an extra person to our table & they were very accommodating. For a busy Saturday night don’t rush us at all
The steak did not have any salt. For being dry aged, it had zero flavor.
We’ve dined at Quality Meats many times and most of the times it was great. Our recent visit was disappointing, and regrettably not for the first time. You expect a certain quality that is usually met for the cuts, especially the porterhouse, and this time, as well as a couple of other times, it was rather mediocre. Too much fat, the meat wasn’t as tender and generally lower quality. The steak we received wasn’t on par with the usually expected standard - from Quality Meats and generally from restaurants in its class.
Consistency is key. At $120 a piece - a steak cannot be mediocre.
Food was amazing. The corn brulee is a must! Bartender was fantastic. Waiter very knowledgeable. Will absolutely return.
Our family is visiting from Las Vegas. This is our 2nd time dining at this restaurant and we love the total package!
We’ll be back.
UNBELIEVABLY noisy. Table of 4 men that had 5 bottles of wine plus drinks ruined our dining experience. Our Quality Potato was quite mushy. Porterhouse steak and rolls very good.
Super crowded, too loud, frenetic, waiters trying to shuffle you in and out. Food was very good, but if you are looking for a more relaxing dinner, this is not the place.
This place was perfect for our first night in NYC. One of the best meals I have ever had! We had the bone-in filet, jalapeno and PB bacon (ridiculously good) and corn brulee. We will always come back to this restaurant in future trips to NYC!
Whenever we are in NYC we go to Quality Meats. Never disappointed.
Major attitude from the waiter.
Quality Meats never disappoints. We had incredible service from all. Team really cares about your dining experience.
We live in southern California but always make it a point to have dinner at QM when in town. Service and food had always been great except this time we could not get a water refill and those glasses are quite small. It certainly put a damper on the evening.
The porterhouse for 2 was quite possibly the best cut of steak I have every had. It melted in your mouth and was perfectly cooked. Great time.
It was a lovely experience over all. My husband's chair was placed in a heavily trafficked spot so he experienced servers accidentally hitting his chair and rubbing up against his back. It was something I wished did not happen for his comfort.
We had 8:15 reservations (arrived at 8:05) and were finally seated at 8:50. Waited in the bar that was WAY too crowded and pretty miserable when paying $50 for two drinks. We ordered as soon as we could (had a hard time getting someone to wait on us) , and after complaining several times, were finally served our entree's an hour later. Those seated around us after us had finished their's before ours were even served. The food was mostly good, but nothing special and hard to enjoy given the poor service. They comped some of the meal, but still a bad experience. There are better NY Steakhouses, including some of their other affiliated restaurants that I have eaten at often. This place is too loud, too crowded and too slow.
The noise level was unbearable & the food was just as bad. We will never eat there again.
