What Insiders Are Saying
Quality Italian is a neo-classic Italian restaurant in Midtown melded with a steakhouse. We like it for the variety on the menu and the massive space.
Extremely loud. A very busy & popular place, but way too loud for a couple to have an enjoyable conversation. ***Also of great concern, something very scary and bizarre happened to me while dining here... I ordered one $24 glass of Moët & Chandon Champagne. Only a few sips into the glass, I became very dizzy and felt like I’d consumed 2-3 bottles on my own! But I had not. I sipped the same glass for the next hour, not realizing what might have been causing this extreme dizziness and uneasiness. We ate quickly & left within 75 minutes of our arrival. I didn’t drink anything else, nor had I had any other cocktails all day. The dizziness continued to get worse, and as we left, I could barely walk down the stairs of the restaurant on my own, across the street, and to our hotel room a very short distance away. The symptoms got much worse in the 30 minutes after we got back to our room. I don’t have any proof that my drink was tampered with, but that’s sure what it felt like! Thank goodness my husband was with me & got me back to our room safely! He and I shared everything else at the table, but he didn’t have any issues. He didn’t drink from my glass, so the open bottle of Champagne was the only different thing I had. The extreme symptoms hit me within 5 minutes of the first sip. Something was definitely wrong here. It was a very scary experience! I basically passed out shortly after we got back to our room at 10:30, and slept until 1am. When I woke up at 1am, the symptoms were completely gone. And I felt fine the rest of today, but the experience has me quite rattled. Who was to blame for this incident? And how often does this happen here? Again, I have no proof, but we’d been in our hotel room for hours before we went to dinner here, with nothing else to eat or drink prior to this dinner & single glass of Champagne. So what happened???
Great pasta and excellent steak
Food was very good but we found the restaurant too noisy. Fortunately they seated us in the back room which was a little quieter than the main room. However we were a group of 6 and I still had trouble hearing those seated across the table from me.
Overall I like Quality Italian. I travel a lot and I spend a lot of money on dining, I have no problem dropping a few hundred dollars on meals, but I still have a major pet peeve when higher-end restaurants nickel and dime you for little things. My number one pet peeve is when these places want to charge you $4 for every soda refill for my kids, and flat soda at that. Please, that's just plain greed. Then the ricotta appetizer comes with a large amount of cheese but three small pieces of bread so when we ask for a few more pieces of bread they charge us for it as well. I just find it greedy and ridiculous.
Food was great. Service very good. Overall noise level was somewhat too high. Certain items (shrimp Cocktails and drinks) a little over priced.
Another great meal at Quality Italian. They have added many new things to the menu so it was like a new experience. All delicious, interesting and wonderful.
Michael and Darren made our outstanding meal even better.
Let’s face facts, the food here is excellent. Same for the service. It ain’t cheap.
Great food and service! Perfect for celebrating a special occasion! Try the chicken parm pizza!
Each dish was unique and full of flavor. How often are you surprised by the flavor of calamari. It was fabulous here. The chicken parm pizza was delicious!
Was it worth it? Meh. If you’re a business man it’s the place to be. Normal humans don’t really fit the vibe.
We booked for my husband's birthday and pre-requested a table with wheel chair access and quiet for my nearly deaf 89 year old mother. We were put at a large round table at the front of the restaurant with 2' between our 5 seats and could not hear each other in conversation. The Hostess was very responsive and accommodating and found us a table that should have been first assigned to us in the back room of the restaurant. That took 15 minutes unfortunately, and then the table service just went down from there. The bill with tip was $630 with only 4 cocktails, the oversized portions were just too much, and for that price there should be a staff on call in the room watching eagle eyed over all your diners. Clearly a dining experience for suits on expense accounts, wish we'd gone to Quality Meats around the corner instead. Can't recommend this restaurant. Too noisy, wait staff almost nonexistent, and WAY to expensive for what it was. It was like a Hoity toity wanna be city cousin of the Cheesecake Factory.
Really interesting venue in a conveniently located area of the city. Food was prepared well and service was attentive.
Back room with 0 ambiance and a waiter that felt compelled to push certain wines and dishes all “most expensive” while never referencing cost.
Decent food and service but the acoustics are so bad that it makes it less than enjoyable
Very delicious food. I would totally recommend getting the Corn Gnudi, it was one of the most delicious things I ever tasted.
Took our 19, 21 and 23 year old here for a nice family dinner. We went on a Monday evening. Hostess was attentive, we were sat promptly and wait staff was also very attentive. Food was all very good, no complaints.
The chicken Parm is as good as you have heard. Too loud for a first-date. Good for pre-theater.
It was my third time at Quality Italian with a group. The chicken parm pizza never disappoints and I thought my grilled octopus entree was outstanding. Everyone enjoyed their meal and went home happy.
This was my first visit to Quality Italian. I have previously eaten at sister restaurant Quality Meats, which was outstanding, so my hopes were very high. While Quality Italian is very good, nothing about it was outstanding. The one high point was the lobster and pasta dish that my son ordered, for which the lobster was flambed tableside.
The server was very good and knowledgeable, but she was heavily pushing a Dover sole special, which was the priciest item on the menu.
There is not as much that is Italian about Quality Italian as you might expect, so if you're looking for Italian food, there are better options. But if you want a variety, with some good Italian options, Quality Italian is a solid choice.
The chicken parm pizza and the pastas were amazing, but we were a little disappointed in the roasted beet and farroe salad. It was Cheese heavy and only contained a few pieces of roasted beets. On the other hand, the cream corn brûlée was to die for and of course the desserts were good. As always the service was great and exactly what you would want from a fine dining restaurant.
Best Negroni I have ever had. Bone in filet was perfectly cooked, service was excellent.
Unfortunately, the steak ordered medium was rare and when we sent bit back for a minute or two it came back well done. The cavatelli were amazing!
Really enjoyed our meal at Quality Italian! Shared the chicken parm “pizza”. It did not disappoint. Yes, it was pricey, but it’s NYC. We were not shocked by the cost. Service was excellent! Definitely recommend!
We were looking for a restaurant near our hotel on West 57th St. We could not have found a better choice for the food and service, but the wine list is a little pricy even for NYC.
The service, ambiance, and food were great!
Restaurant has become one of favorites in NYC. Only downside is that not enough pasta-type dishes.
Wine list is limited to very expensive options starting around $80
Loud. Need to ask for a quiet area. Expensive. Food delicious. Very dark. Need to ask to be seated by a window in order to read the menu.
Food was excellent. Service was top notch. Will be back for another try.
Loud. Expensive. Dark inside. Food delicious.
Very, very loud.
Great food. Must haves are the Chicken parm, crab salad & the lobster rigatoni.
Great steaks too!!!
A few too many tourists and uptight business people but otherwise the bar was pretty friendly. Don’t miss the baked clams.
The restaurant was very loud for lunch. They don't offer their signature Chicken Parm Pizza on the lunch menu so it is only for dinner. They also served the worst coffee I have ever had.
Dark and noisy but nice. Very good meat. Quick and kind service. A bit too expensive.
Wonderful experience and a definite place to try when in New York
Everything excellent- food as good as anything I’ve ever experienced, service attentive, beautiful space - wonderful everything!
All of the service staff were very warm, professional and eager to make the dinner very enjoyable. Food was terrific - great desserts
