Oysters, drinks and service were great! Awesome vibe and we can’t wait to come back
The Happy Hour at Oyster Bah is outstanding. We had a half priced bottle of wine, a dozen oysters, aloha mussels and grilled shrimp as happy hour specials. For dinner I had the linguine special which included a lobster tail, and Laura had the chicken which she loves.
Good food and service! We will definitely be back.
Initially when I booked my reservation, it gave me the option for high top seating or regular and so I chose high top, and added a note for upstairs. The first time my friend and I came to the restaurant it’s where we sat and had an absolutely fabulous time. When we were seated, it was at a booth downstairs and when I asked the hostess about getting the high top, she told me nothing else was available and there was nothing upstairs. I thought it was strange that the option was even given if it wasn’t going to be honored.
Aside from the seating we had an awesome time! Love the playlist that they have, and the food is amazing. The vibe is always a ton of fun.
Really a great restaurant and the friendly customer service keeps me coming back.. the soft king crab legs are amazing!
Come here for happy hour! For two people, we ordered 2 dozen oysters, the sizzling garlic shrimp, the fried chicken sandwich, and an order of fries with a liter of rose (all on the HH menu) to share. Total was less than $100- such a good deal!
Always love dining here! The staff is friendly and attentive and the food is amazing!!
We had really been looking forward to trying this @lettuceentertainyou location. Some of our favorites from this restaurant group include @saranellos, @summerhousesm, @monamigabibistro, @di_pescara, @everest_chicago, and the now closed Tru. In fact, we used to always get oysters at Summer House, but they took them off the menu when Oyster Bah opened.
We sat down and our waiter suggested the house cocktail, the Cape Cod. It was light, refreshing, a perfect way to start our meal. We also chose a sampling of three oysters, which were exactly as we expect in Chicago in September.
Our next course that was recommended was Maryland Style Crab Dip. My other half commented that it tasted like they had simply gone to the service Deli at the local Jewel grocery store and warmed up a crab dip. Supremely disappointed. Every bite made me more disappointed.
We also ordered a shrimp cocktail. While the presentation was lacking, it was the best I've had in Chicago. Perfect with the last bits of our cocktail, we couldn't wait to be asked to order another, but weren't.
Our entrees arrived. My other half ordered the Mussels & Fries, which were prepared in a delicious, rich wine, fennel, butter sauce.
I ordered the crab legs and ribs. The crab was delicious, as were the ribs. Though the portion was a tab small, I'd assumed it was a half slab of ribs, but really more like a quarter. Also surprising was the side of slaw, while delicious, the ramekin of ketchup for fries was larger than the slaw.
Overall, disappointed in the experience. Not a great value, and service was OK. Possibly willing to go back for shrimp, mussels and oysters though.
Happy hour prices were amazing. Crab was delicious as were the oysters tho a bit on the pricy end. Happy hour favorites were the muscles, fries, oysters, and hush puppies. Ambiance was great, family friendly.
Was really looking forward to trying this place out finally. Ordered crab legs but they came to us luke warm at best. Melted butter was also very cold. Saw other guests who seemed to be overflow from crab cellar and all of their crab legs were steaming with heat visible from our table. They also were served melted butter that sat on top of small candles to ensure it was heated well. I’m not a crab legs snob but when you are paying $50 for one pound I’d expect a little better.
Also side note: clam chowder was delicious, however their appetizer of crab dip was extremely small serving and definitely not shareable. Gave only 2 pieces of bread, not sure how it’s considered appetizer.
First visit. Great service. Excellent menu options. Everything was great.
Wonderful, as always!
Service and food were outstanding! Loved the oysters!
Great variety of oysters offered from east and west coast and they were very fresh and delicious. My husband really enjoyed his clam chowder. We shared the crab cake appetizer and in retrospect I wish we hadn't because it was so delicious, I could not taste any filler, seemed like all crab meat. Oh, and the dipping sauce for the crab cake was phenomenal. For dinner I had the fish tacos which I thoroughly enjoyed and my husband has the linguine with shellfish which was excellent. We can not wait to return and try other offerings on the menu.
It was my birthday (mentioned in the reservation, but not acknowledged by our server), and I wanted to come here because of their crab combinations dinner. I ordered the chicken and crab - delicious, and certainly ample enough. My daughter had salmon, and although she said it tasted good, the piece was small. and came with rice which she doesn't eat. Luckily, we shared an appetizer - grilled octopus, which was very good. I would like to go back and try the oysters which everyone around us had ordered.
The selection of oysters was great. The remaining dishes were ho-hum. Clams/mussels in pasta were gritty, crab cakes were so so. Had kitchen snafus at beginning of meal that significantly delayed starters arriving. Overall 110 lunch for 2 w/o drinks.
Good food, good service, small portions with expected higher prices.
The appetizers were bland. The pike was fresh but not seasoned and the crab cake also lacked seasoning. My wife ordered thebsalmkn which again was very very bland and dry. However, I ordered the seafood linguine which was outstanding. Fresh flavorful and perfectly cooked. Lobster was buttery shrimp tender mussels and calamari excellent. It was almost we were ordered from two different restaurants. We will give it another shot and hope the entire meal can live up to my dish.
Simply outstanding..........Great..No other place you would rather eat.
I thought the food was excellent overall and there was a nice selection. Great ambiance in that it was perfect background music and not too noisy. I will definitely be back!
My husband and I are oyster snobs and by far, they are the best at this place. Not sure what it is but they just taste amazing. As well as the lobster! Our waitress was awesome!! She make a great recommendation and we ordered it again!
We went to celebrate a birthday. The place is dark if you aren’t seated near the front. Oysters were good. The fish and chips were skimpy. My son ordered the fried rice special but it was no longer available. He opted for the fish tacos, which were just mediocre. I ordered the grilled octopus appetizer for my meal. It would have been good if it was not drenched in olive oil. Disappointing meal but the service was good.
Great experience will def go back!
Some of the best oysters in the city. Always a great experience here!
Service was good, as well as the food. Flavors were very bland in both the garlic shrimp and crab dishes we ordered. Not a very big menu, but has the basic items. Not a place to go if you are looking for any veggie items.
Went on a Wednesday night, not busy at all. Ordered a seafood tower (expensive but was for a birthday celebration). West coast oysters were old fishy tasting, shrimp was rubbery. Then we waited a long time for the crab legs order to come. At $47 they were small but tasty portion (1lb) however we were missing the cheesy bread on one order. When that finally came, we had already finished dessert. Disappointing for a lettuce restaurant. We are Gold lettuce members and will definitely not go back. There are other crab legs places that represent a better value.
Soft shell crab was offered as an appetizer but not an entree. Talked to server and she made it happen for me. Delicious
The Aloha Mussels are a must!
Attentive service, excellent oysters, all other food was also very good if not excellent. Upstairs dining area is a bit less frenetic than downstairs but the vibe downstairs is fun.
Excellent food and service!
Excellent service, food, and vibe!
The food was quite good and our server was great. I wished there was a bit broader menu with maybe one more fish selection besides crab, salmon and scallops. The crab legs were good but not cracked as much as we expected. By the time we could get them opened the last few were cold.
Great Service. Nice selection of seafood and other items like fried chicken and ribs. Luv the combo of Crab legs and Ribs or Fried Chicken
Nice beer selection with oysters.
Love this place. The oysters on the half shell are so fresh. Their happy hour menu is awesome. Please try the sizzlin shrimp. The servers are very accommodating. I never have a bad time here and leave super full and satisfied.
Food was good but the salmon was a tiny portion especially for over $20. Also, the oysters were tasty but also tiny.
Service was very good.
Love this place!!!!!
Great happy hour prices and kids eat free! Service was on point and food came out quickly after ordering. Their oysters were super fresh ! Happy hour menu items are a must and definitely try the Poke. It is worth full price :) We will return soon!
Happy hour oysters =great! Being given conflicting info on what’s included on the happy hour menu = not so great! The confusion over the bill after the couple I had dinner with specifically asked for separate checks = awful! Still not sure I wasn’t double charged as it’s showing up as a charge currently on my cc. 😳. My advice to LE is to update thus restaurant’s charge system. It took an extra 45 minutes of my sitting at the table alone, (long story) to get it sorted out and then had to come back into the restaurant when it seemed like it still wasn’t handled. Love the Oysters- Hate the hassle.
The food was not the best. I ordered the fish and chips but the fries part of the fish was soggy and not crunchy. The chips/fries were not the classic thick cut fries and didn't seem to have seasoning. My girlfriend got the ribs that were dry and tough, not the fall off the bone experience that typically comes from ribs. I got the oysters which were excellent, but this was the only part of the meal that we enjoyed.
