It’s a beautiful setting but we thought the food was very overrated. Having said that, at £28 per head for the set lunch it’s good value. Would recommend purely based on setting as also found the service quite slow and they kept forgetting to bring my glass of wine meaning I didn’t get to drink it with my meal.
Nicest restaurant in the SW, surroundings are beautiful
Fantastic experience, very different. The food was great very unique choice of food. All fresh and local would recommend it to everyone to give it a try
Stunning lunch in stunning surroundings. Amazing service with friendly staff. Could not fault AT ALL.
What an amazing place. Loved the menu choice and the clever use of locally grown produce. We will be back
It was everything I had been expecting and more! So glad I booked before Gile Coren's Times review as I don’t think I’d have got a table this year. You deserve all the accolades you get
A charming and memorable location where every dish is special and the staff deliver the perfect level of attention.
Absolutely loved the whole experience! Food was innovative, so nice to have different combinations of flavours. Thank you
Delicious food, charming staff and lovely atmosphere. Most enjoyable.
Fantastic lunch. Rebooked straightaway.
A memorable treat. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive and the food... absolutely delicious! I have been a vegetarian for 34 years and I now have some new ideas! Heartily recommend searching out Pythouse Kitchen garden.
This is a unique experience never to be missed. Wonderful setting and sublime and inventive cuisine using much of their garden produce. Attentive and courteous service.
Excellent summer menu, the smoked peas in a light mozzarella was a particular standout. Service was ok, but a little hurried and one of the servers lacked knowledge of some of the details of the menu. Extremely warm with no air conditioning or fans.
Our first visit. Pythouse Kitchen is a little piece of paradise just dropped into the wonderful Wiltshire countryside.
We had a lovely welcome and felt at ease immediately, the staff were very attentive. We liked the informal atmosphere and were very happy with the Covid protection in place.
The food was excellent and generous portions. The Sprigster Cocktail was non-alcoholic and BETTER THAN GIN. We stocked up and took some home.
Enjoyed a lovely walk around the garden and took a slow drive home.
A memorably day!
We took two friends to Pythouse, our favourite restaurant: they loved it... as did we all the food was sensational! Three of us had the trout the flavours of that and the vegetables that came with it were superb. The fourth member in our party had venison.. he said that it was delicious! The puds were to die for. We hope to return very soon.
Can't think of a better place to sit on an English summer day. Wonderful food and a beautiful garden filled with flowers and the sounds of nature.
Well that was something pretty special. Fresh, seasonal, beautifully cooked food, relaxed atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff. Just like having dinner round at your friends house, but they happen a flipping amazing chef!
A wander through the flowery garden finished it all off just perfectly. I've already booked again.
A friendly team, inventive food and wonderful setting. An all round fantastic experience!
Always a joy to lunch here. A perfect garden to enjoy as well as delicious food
Fabulous hidden gem. Well worth seeking out.
Everything about the PKG is wonderful.
What a fabulous place with good food, excellent service and a wondering calming atmosphere. The gardens are lovely to walk around especially in the full summer sunshine. If the weather is good recommend eating outside.
Had been wanting to visit for a while so was excited about the booking. However, while the setting was really beautiful, the overall experience was underwhelming.
The best part of the food was the bread and butter in the first set of courses - this was really great. The side dishes that came with the food had flavours that didn’t meld well together - very sour asparagus (it was fermented, granted), mozzarella with smoked peas that was in a bowl lined with quite wet lettuce (strange flavour combination, didn’t work for us) and the potatoes were very oily and unseasoned once you bit through the crunchy top part, as if they had been cooked in oil that wasn’t quite hot enough.
The meat was bland, I thought. I had pork and it was very chewy and unseasoned, and the tomato (and lovage? Couldn’t taste lovage but it was on the menu) sauce was quite watery. My partner had the beef, which was better, but still fairly bland.
Dessert was also a strange one. I had the cherry galette and the pastry was more salty than sweet, and the filling wasn’t sweet. My partner had the chocolate mousse, which would have been lovely but the puffed rice had a distinct burnt taste and the mint was too strong.
The restaurant was also very quiet and my partner and I felt like we were having to lean in and talk quietly, which is an odd way to enjoy lunch.
Left feeling quite disappointed, the flavours just really didn’t work for us - some unusual and unpleasant combinations and lacking in seasoning. We left bits of every dish (apart from the first two plates - the bread, pickles and split pea dip), which is something we never do when out to eat. Maybe it was an off-day.
Could not fault anything from the venue through to the service and the most delicious food.
Fab! Lovely fresh local produce, beautifully cooked and served.
A very special venue. Cannot praise it enough on all counts. Delicious set menu of haunch of venison and choc mouse savoured with relish.
Great products in shop too!
Simple but excellent menu that offers fresh and unusual dishes. It is well thought out. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The service was attentive but not obtrusive. The surroundings are beautiful - in an old garden building and the restaurant is well organised. The team are keen to please. We visited while on holiday and will happily return when we can.
Perfect lunch spot with excellent food… particularly like the set starter and sides.
Excellent food and service and a an amazing, beautiful place to visit.
Excellent food excellent service. Fantastic place to go to and would recommend this place to all.
Delicious sustainable meal inside with excellent service and delightful gardens to explore afterwards.
This was one of the very, very best lunches I have ever had. Food was absolutely spot on and utterly delicious and intriguing. Every single forkful was superb and so interesting. I came away completely happy - and totally inspired to try new things out in my own kitchen. So wonderful - thank you
The most incredible flavours in the most stunning setting. An absolute must for a special occasion or a nice treat.
A tranquil setting for an excellent lunch outside shaded from the sun. It was easy to relax and enjoy the seasonal food served without fuss or intrusion. Afterwards we walked among the flower beds and picked a bouquet for home as a reminder of the Kitchen Garden we will visit again.
Enjoyed every moment of lunch yesterday, Pretty perfect
I personally have to thank Lisa for making our birthday lunch such a fantastic event. The hard work her and the team put into making us comfortable considering us changing our party size last minute was above and beyond. The food was fantastic and so fast no waiting at all.
I love all the little elements which make the ambiance, blankets sheepskins and the heaters make the outside area so comfortable and cosy.
A huge thank you once again
Fantastic - the most fantastic peaceful setting. The food was exceptional.
Great food, great vibe, Great produce, great service.
Probably the best lunch place I’ve ever been!! Go!! You won’t be disappointed!
The location is stunning, the food exquisite and the staff are perfect. It was a very special lunch experience.
Perfect lunch - meeting up with old friends.
