Hand torn pasta was really good if you add some extra truffle on it. Enjoyed the piri piri rice and persimmon salads. Valet is available, as is a parking lot right next door for $8. The space is lacking some warmth and energy.
Great primarily-veg spot. We were in town for only 48 hours and went for dinner; we liked it so much that we went back for brunch. Brunch & dinner were awesome.
Delicious and cozy place with great service, beautifully plated food and a very attentive service staff
We have wanted to check out PYT for awhile. We are not vegetarians but tend to a veggie heavy diet. This place is so creative! Loved everything...the salads and the entrees alike. Truly we were so happy and great service as well. We will be back!
We've come here for birthdays, Mother's Day, and just because of the food. We've always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and the service. Thanks for a good time!
Very nicemeal, goodfoodandlovely service. Wine list is alsointeresting, good choices.
Poor service and very disappointed vegan options which we don’t think were vegan because it made us sick... won’t be coming back.
This place is interesting at best. I looked at the pics and they boast about there Breakfast Bowl, lacked any substance. Needed salt, but they only give you Rock Salt but the grains are too chunky, but the only option. The Bloody Mary was good but for $13, served in a tall slender glass, not worthy of the cost.
The pancakes were good with the toasted coconut but when asked for some more syrup, waiter said it is very expensive as it is made on the rooftop with there very own bees. The waiter however did bring more or I would have had to wash it down with some milk and I am lactose intolerant. Like I said the premise for the breakfast bowl is good, but maybe grill the vegetables first as they were like a limp noodle in the bowl. The bacon was not crispy at all and was very undercooked, a few minutes on the grill would have made all the difference in the world. Would I go back with all the interesting restaurants in the area, probably not. They need to put a little more TLC in the dishes and get some more waiters as the bartender is also the bus boy.
Absolutely Love PYT!!! The flavor combinations are a harmony of delicious delight! Everything is perfectly prepared! We loved the Chef Salad, The Japenese sweet potatoes, the fish!!! And the rice pudding!! Love the service too!! And lovely atmosphere too!!
I had visited on a Sat night on Oct 2018 and found the service timing poor. We arrived in time to leave did a show, but in the end the kitchen got backed up with others in a similar situation.
THIS Sat before s show there was no such problem. Waiters were responsive. food came out at appropriate intervals to when we wanted to eat
PYT is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. I usually go for dinner and this was my first time eating brunch there. The food was delicious and the variety of brunchy options made it hard to decide what to eat. I guess I'll just have to go back.
Loved the brioche French toast and their bacon portion is huge! Pancakes were good as well. I want to go back and try their ALT and different types of coffee.
Night out with friends- the staff was very attentive
My wife is vegetarian. I’m a quasi vegetarian. The menu worked very well for both of us.
Wonderful experience and delicious food.
We went for brunch and had delicious entrees that included spaghetti squash and fried eggplant. We had a great persimmon salad also. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We love to go back soon!
Good food, attentive service
Excellent assortment of creative vegetable dishes.
I've been to PYT twice, and keep dreaming about the next visit before leaving the table! The food is outstanding, with tons of vegetarian options, vegan options, farm to table veggies, and delicious cocktails. I want to try everything on the menu! So, we'll be back.... again and again.
Unfortunately we did not have a positive experience. The reason we did not have a positive experience were the following reasons: the restaurant hostess was rude, condescending and unapologetic of her demeanor.
We arrived punctual to our reservation and were escorted to sit inside the restaurant. Since the afternoon weather was pleasant we asked if we could sit outside in the patio. The hostess responded with a negative attitude and lecturing us how we were causing her a big inconvenience with our request. Next we were walked outside and let her know what table we preferred in the patio but she continued to be rude and with a condescending demeanor let us know that she would be deciding where we were sitting. There was just one other couple sitting in the patio area! The rest was empty!. Finally, at the end of our dinner she abruptly let us know that she needed to put tables together and we needed to move, not once did she say "please" or even acknowledge that she was interrupting our dinner. I really wish we would of had a better experience since we live in Downtown LA and really enjoy dining out on a frequent basis.
Yummy in my Tummy. So Fresh and so Cleannnn
One of the best meals (and cocktails) I’ve ever had. My husband who “hates vegetables” loved every single thing there. Hidden gem!!
I loved the food but my wife (a vegetarian) and many other friends we talked to about PYT had the same comment/s: everything tasted the same nothing pops. After we added some salt the flavors seemed to rear their head out but nothing memorable about the flavor/s. I am a meat eater and really enjoyed the offerings and the mix of ingredients. I had the pozole for my main entree (I am Mexican) Pozole is my favorite dish. This Pozole was nothing like my mother's or what I am accustomed to eating. After eating it I have no idea why they call it Pozole but I loved it. Every last spoonful! I hope that the concept survives. BTW the pickled veggies were incredible they even pickled OKRA! and it was good.
Service was great. The food was consistently delicious -the okra was one of my favorites. The drinks continue to be refreshing and tasty.
Although the agnolotti I enjoyed on my first visit was no longer available/in season, I'm hoping it comes back soon.
I'm not THAT big into vegetables, but wow this place is awesome! Everything we had was amazing - the carrots, the zucchini noodles, the sweet potatoes, the bread and dips. My friend and I enjoyed this so much, we're already planning out next visit!
Complimentary Amused Bouche: Grilled snap peas with pistachios. Sprinkled with salt, Meyers lemon juice, some kind of vinaigrette (I forgot the exact name) and garnished with a Meyers lemon slice. The snap peas were fresh and hearty while the pistachios provided that nutty, earthy crunchy. So far, off to a delicious start!
I got the $12 Avocado Toast + $3 Egg Add-on. Originally, I was going to get this one when I had first dined here for DineLA in July 2018. However, the Green Piri Piri Rice Bowl kept calling me (also, highly recommend getting that dish too!). When my Avocado Toast was brought out, man, it was huge! Quite filling and delectable too! Served on a large toast, topped with pepitas (similar to pumpkin seeds), thinly sliced carrot and radish slices, pea tendrils, sheep's milk brie, and large and creamy chunks of avocado spread, I felt so healthy and nourished eating this meal. Everything married well together, balancing out the savory and sweetness of the ingredients. Would I get this again and recommend it? Ab-so-lute-ly!!!
$5 French Fries: Wow, you get a A LOT in a good size medium bowl. I honestly thought it was going to be served in one of those metal cones that you usually see other restaurants served them in, but nope, not here! Deliciously wholesome! The French fries were fried perfectly and golden, not greasy at all! Crispy on the outside, piping hot and fresh in the inside. Seasoned with salt and thyme and served with ketchup and remoulade (aioli or mayonnaise-based) sauces for dipping. Between the two sauces, the remoulade was my favorite. For $5, it's worth the delicious splurge! Great for munching on by yourself or sharing.
Service: There were three employees running the floor and all three of them were friendly and sweet.
Overall, when it comes to the veggies being the star of the main dishes here, Chef Centeno's P.Y.T. seriously nails it!
Best Vegetable Dishes in town. Incredible drinks. The food was delicious, the service was seamless. Highly recommend.
We were underwhelmed although we'd go back to try other dishes. PYT is in downtown LA and we did not love the inside atmosphere (a little too cold- not cozy) so we opted to sit outside. It was nice but not quiet. Our server was very nice but we did have to ask another waiter for water and a few questions because we could not catch her a few times. I think we would have had better/easier service inside. The okra appetizer with grapes was DELICIOUS!!! The sunchoke appetizer was ok - they need to lighten up that dish with something contrasting to the potato-like veggie. We ordered one pasta and the waitress recommended another so we went with her option. We did not like it at all, it was not worth eating so we sent it back. I wish we had tried the hand torn pasta - it sounded amazing. This place is great for vegetarians - all but one item on the menu is vegetarian. However, for the price and hype we were hoping for a great and memorable meal. We did not get that but maybe will next time if we order different items.
It took a while to get our table, even with a reservation. We waited at the bar until about 8:30 and our reservation was at 7:45. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:52. Service was good once we were sat down. The rest of the experience was excellent as well.
Great for vegetarians. We had a great time tasting their limited menu on a weekday during their happy hour.
The menu is always new because it's based around what vegetables are in season. The menu isn't entirely vegetarian but the last time I went there was only one dish that had meat. It's my favorite restaurant int Los Angeles right now. So good.
There are many vegetarian restaurants in Los Angeles, but food at PYT is the most flavorful, creative and satisfying. This was our last fourth time to eat here and it was as good as the first vsit!
Fabulous in every way!
I recommended this to a friend while still dining. The flavors and combinations were just outstanding. The menu is one that you can throw a dart at and hit something delicious every time. Truly mouthwatering healthy fare that will leave you completely sated.
This one is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles
A friend recommended PYT as a special healthy veg friendly restaurant dtla. Beside the fact that everything we ordered was amazing w respect to both flavor and presentation, two out of three in our party have worked at some of the best restaurants in SF and beyond with years of experience and wanted to give a particular shout out to the amazing service we got from everyone we encountered. Pure grace. Thank you so much! We will be back often.
Thank you to the whole staff for making my Birthday celebration a memorable one. I will be back to enjoy more of your incredible food and interesting wine list.
Went there for lunch, was very satisfied. Food was great --highly recommend the BLT!
I have been wanting to try PYT for ages given that I frequent their sister restaurants Bar Ama and Baco Mercat quite often. I hate to give them only three stars but a couple of incidents warrant this rating I believe.
Our party of three went in for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant was mostly empty say for another 2 tables. Our food order:
1) BLT sandwich
2) Chef's salad with side of grilled chicken
3) Stone fruit salad with gouda
1) Chef's salad: There was a LIVE bug which I found crawling around mid-way through eating my salad.
2) Grilled chicken: was tough and dry. Probably overcooked.
3) Wait time: we waited over 45 minutes for our dishes, 2 of which were uncooked salads.
Our server was awesome and apologised profusely for the bug in the food. I had to point out that it took 45 minutes to receive uncooked (and unclean!) food which I found to be unacceptable.
While he did take the salad dish off our bill, I don't think I will be back anytime soon.
Just had an outstanding meal at P.Y.T. -- if you're a vegetarian (or just want to eat like one for a change) you need to try this place. From the bread to the pastas, everything tasted fresh, inventive and was seasoned perfectly. My only complaint is that the margarita I ordered (which was excellent) was half the size of a normal drink (very surprising given the portions for everything else were perfect). Aside from that one flaw, would highly recommend P.Y.T.
