Food was amazing, great price for a 12 oz ribeye. The creme brulee was a little too charred in flavor. The drinks were good. The pork belly over kimchee was amazing!

I’ve eaten at the Purple Parrot on 4 occasions over the last two years. The first was good the second was better, the third was great. This last was awful. Entirely too expensive for what was prepared and served. Unless I hear it has gotten better, I won’t eat there again. Cost outstripped the quality of food and dining experience by making miles.

Food was great, very slim crowd for a Saturday night. Only complaint was slow service. It took 30 mins from the time we sat down to get our first cocktail and remained slow. My last drink of the night, I had to get from the bar and bring back to the table. Beef short ribs, grilled fish and steaks were all good that night.

We came here for a New Year's Eve dinner date before heading to a movie and as always, I was not disappointed. There was a fixed menu this night as you chose from a selection of items from each course - all equally delicious. Of course, I love the look and feel of the restaurant itself with all the watercolor paintings by Wyatt Waters . This is the best fine dining restaurant in Hattiesburg and I highly recommend it.

Although I've enjoyed dining at Purple Parrot for many years, it seems to have slipped a notch. I was surprised that the bar waiter wore a tee shirt and jeans; also that the menu was printed on a small one-sided piece of heavy paper rather than a full-size menu that you'd expect in an up-scale restaurant. The menu is limited and there were no specials offered on this night. The service was average-to-slow and my steak was overdone.

I hope that this was just an off night for the Parrot.

We chose the Purple Parrot to celebrate our anniversary, and everything was PERFECT. Our waiter could not have been more attentive, and the food was divine! The seating and atmosphere were exquisite...quiet and romantic. The holiday decorations were beautiful as well. Overall, it was such a special evening, and the Purple Parrot made it all the more so. I absolutely recommend this restaurant for anyone celebrating a special occasion! Our dining experience was perfect!

Our dinner at PP was not great. There was basically one server for the whole restraunt. Our food took forever and it wasnt that good. My cheese grits tasted like they had a pound of salt in them. The whole experience was dissappointing considering PP is supposed to be the nicest restaurant in Hattiesburg. Better off going to Biloxi or NOLA.

PP is a good restaurant with excellent wine list. I have been there many times and will go back. But the halibut Sat was awful— over cooked and tasteless

We were told this is considered the best restaurant in Hattiesburg and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the staff very friendly, and we enjoyed it sufficiently that we went back for lunch the next day.

Wow, is all we can say. My wife and I wanted a special night out and after searching we found Purple Parrot and after reading the reviews, made reservations. Boy, this is by far one of the best places we've ever eaten. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated by the hostess. Our waiter, Jonathan, took our drink order. I asked if they could make a Sazerac and he said certainly. Not many bartenders know how to make this old cocktail. He returned shortly and we ordered their crabmeat beignets appetizer. Our drinks were wonderful and Jonathan returned shortly with the beignets. Oh my, what a treat - lightly breaded crab-filled puffs. These are a must. For dinner my wife ordered the catch-of-the-day - broiled grouper and I wanted to try their shrimp & grits.

We enjoyed our drinks and the beignets and soon, our entrees arrived. Goodness, what a wonderful combination of flavors. My shrimp & grits were different than any I've ever tried before - no cheese in the grits. At first I was skeptical, because I don't like plain grits. Wow, these were spectacular. The sauce from the shrimp, bacon, mushrooms, charred tomatoes, & shallots melded with the grits for an incredible flavor. My wife said her grouper was equally inspired. Both of us couldn't stop talking about how fabulous our food was, but we managed to quell our desires and at the halfway point to ask for boxes. No way were we going to leave any of this fabulous meal. And, as a surprise, Jonathan brought us a serving of their chocolate decadence cake to celebrate our anniversary. What a way to end a perfect evening. We will go out of our way in the future to schedule a return to Purple Parrot. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

My husband and I enjoyed our first visit to Purple Parrot where we decided to go for the brunch menu. The meal was via a gift certificate we received in celebration of our marriage on June 5, 2017. The atmosphere, service, and meal all added to the festive feel of the occasion. Our waiter was attentive without being a stalker, our food was incredible - from the crab beignets to the creme brulee and coffee - and the entire experience felt like a celebration of "us."
