Purple Cafe and Wine Bar - Woodinville Ratings and Reviews
The waitress had a lukewarm personality, not overly friendly but not overly rude. I had asked for some dietary modifications which I have had before there without problem; she seemed like she was irritated at my request and seemed bothered we didn't order wine. Maybe she was thinking about her tip? We just didn't feel like having wine that night. Also, a lack of creativity that night when I had requested a protein (filet mignon) and veggies (roasted potatoes and onions) gf and dairy free. Usually the chef makes a good gf, df demi glace with the entrée. Not that night....everything was dry and tasteless. I had to ask for olive oil to drizzle on my food. All in all, it wasn't terrible but the service was lackluster as well as the food that night.
Girls Night Out for restaurant week. Thanks for accommodating an indecisive group of ladies... Our reservation changed from 6, to 8, back down to 6 and the restaurant took it all in stride... Great service, lovely wine suggestions and no issues with our group ordering from different menus (some Restaurant Week menu, others from the regular menu). Everything was excellent.
My wife and I were having an evening "get together" with people who have been friends of ours for many years. We were looking for something close by that had a good reputation. All of us had eaten at another Purple so we thought we would give the one in Woodinville a try. We were happy with the food and the service. I had their meatloaf, and do not let the name fool you. This was almost like having a sirloin steak. The glaze was excellent as was the meat itself. If there is a downside to the restaurant, it can be noisy, almost like a high school cafeteria so if this is going to be a "date" night for some quiet time and conversation, look elsewhere. Otherwise, I have no problem recommending Purple for a place for a nice meal and nice wine (no hard alcohol is served there).
We have been to your restaurant twice before this visit for special occasions which were fabulous. This visit however did not begin well. I made reservations for a party of 6 at 9pm. My friend had also made reservations which I was not aware. Two in our group did not want to wait that long so I contacted your restaurant and said it would be a party of 4 instead. In learning that we had another reservation, I cancelled it and confirmed just my reservation. When we arrived, there was no reservation. I spoke with the hostess and she said she spoke with me and I cancelled both. She was not in the least friendly. She was very arrogant . Half the restaurant was empty at 8:40 and she looked around and acted as if it would be an inconvenience to seat us in one of the many empty tables downstairs . She was literally rolling her eyes and sent us upstairs to a near empty seating area. We were close to walking out. Our two guests, who are with the Tom Douglas group, informed us that in their restaurants, guests would have never been treated that way. This was embarrassing.
The risotto was excellent, the other dishes were good but not great. The meatloaf was very dry, burnt on the outer edges. The server was wonderful.
I can't say if we would return. My wife and guests were unhappy.
My husband and friend had the spaghetti which they said was very good. Purple has there own concoction with pesto and sun dried tomatoes. I had the cranberry apple salad which was also excellent.
This is a wine bar so there is a wine suggestion for every meal, appetizer, and dessert. The one wine I had after giving the server my preferences was excellent.
I had the cream Brûlée which was again very well prepared and delicious.
Everything was very pricey, though. I was the only one who had a glass of wine. The others had water. The bill for three of us was $108. We all three had desserts.
Made reservations for 1:15 for a grp of five. We were sat at 1:15, however, waited an hour to receive our order, which wasnt terribly difficult as no special orders or requests. Server took three tries at getting our bill correct. We had to quite awhile for our bill as well. Not happy at all with experience in an upscale area, with upscale prices.
We had a lovely dinner at Purple. I had left a note on my Open Table reservation that it was for our anniversary and when we showed up our server immediately came out with 2 complimentary glasses of champagne and said happy anniversary! I was really impressed!
Salmon appetizer was amazing!!! I also had the 1/2 BLTA and cup of mushroom soup, great flavor and perfect amount! Cheatue St Michele recommended this place, I'd suggest working with them and orginizing a picnic basket style lunch that you would take to the Cheatue. This would be perfect pairing !!!! Enjoy ;) the staff was knowledgeable there was a no rush take your time environment.
We usually love going to Purple but this time the service was lacking and it took 3 times to get my order right. They were accommodating and did write off the meal. Was so looking forward to going out for a nice evening. This was not one of them. I will go back, was just an off night this time.
