Purple Cafe and Wine Bar - Woodinville Ratings and Reviews
Purple Café and Wine Bar is one of our go-to favorite restaurants. The food is always great - from the lobster mac & cheese to the filet mignon, we have never been disappointed. Whenever we are asked where to go in Woodinville, Purple is at the top of our list!
Met here with my friend whom I hadn't seen in in 25 years. The server was patient with our delays in ordering as we caught up on each others' lives. It was the perfect atmosphere, good food, great service, not too quiet for those lulls but not so loud to miss the details!
Really nice lunch with another wine loving couple celebrating a birthday. Waitress very energetic and friendly. Love that special wine not on their extensive wine list does not have 1st bottle corkage, then go to their great stuff. Food always perfect. A little loud, but people were having fun. Will keep taking people to one of our special places.
I dine often at the Woodinville location of Purple Wine Cafe, both for business lunches and for dining our with family and friends. Overall, I have had excellent experiences with the food and service. Parking can be a challenge in the crowded wine district, but you can generally find a spot if you are patient. Always allow yourself at least 5 extra minutes to park. On my last visit, we took a colleague out for a farewell lunch on her last day with our company. We arrived early and the restaurant had no other patrons. My colleagues ordered the half salads, which came out quickly, looked good and they both enjoyed. It was a chilly day, so I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup combination with fries. The grilled cheese came on very thick bread, which I think detracted from the crustiness I prefer in a grilled cheese. The bread definitely overpowered the cheese, which was gooey, but was too mild for my taste. The addition of carmelized onions was a good touch, but I think this sandwich could be improved with a more dense, thinner, crusty bread and a better cheese or a variety of cheeses. The tomato soup was disappointing because it was lukewarm. The soup had a good flavor, but it was not hot enough. Perhaps this was due to our arriving just as they opened. The French fries were delicious - hand cut, crispy, and tasted great. I'm sure I will be going back to Purple, but I will stay away from this selection next time.
Met a friend for lunch. Purple is usually very good. This time I had the drunken goat sandwich - bread was too thick - or - the sandwich would've been better if there were more cheese in the middle. Couldn't really taste the middle part because the bread was so thick. I'd go back though, I do like the restaurant.
We eat at Heavy Restaurants a bunch. We had a superb dinner at the Bellevue Purple last month, have had many great meals at Purple Woodinville in the past, love The Commons. Heck, I am having lunch at Purple Kirkland tomorrow.
The food is usually great. And it was for the outstanding butternut squash soup we started with and the superb dessert (ginger molasses cookies with a pumpkin mousse) we finished with. In between was a really sad entree. We both saw the "Lamb meatballs with pancetta" on the menu the minute we opened it. It sounded great. And the meatballs were. But both of ours seem to lack something. The meatballs had a little sauce clinging to them but other than that, the pasta they were sitting on was dry as a bone. Not at all appetizing. I was hoping for a great pasta dish. What I got was 5 tiny meatballs and some dry pasta.
The wine (a Ripasa) was excellent and matched the tiny meatballs perfectly. We will go back.
My husband and I stopped in for the first time. We both chose the lobster roll, which was scrumptious. We chose for our sides the mixed salad which comes with a lemon vinaigrette, also delicious. We both had the Two Vintners Syrah which I would also recommend. The Crème Brulee was very large and also luscious. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely return.
We eat here a lot and they have great salads and appetizers as well as lots of other dishes. However, they recently changed the fries from shoestring to handcuf which would seem good but the new fries were cold and even when replaced with hot ones they were soggy and greasy. As the shrimp appetizer and other dishes come with fries this is not a good thing. Ask for a replacement to fries if you go.
I was glad we made reservations as it was very busy at lunch the day before Thanksgiving. Each of the four of us had a different entree, and all very pleased with our choices. The food here is always fresh, tasty, and artfully prepared. This is a great place to dine when in your way out for a day of wine tasting in Woodinville.
Enjoyed warm, friendly service. Hubby and I both did the soup And half sandwich combo. They are VERY generous with the meat! One of the best turkey sandwiches I've had! Hubby had BLTA (blt+avocado) and seemed to like it also. My tomato soup was savory but wished it had been at a hotter temperature. All in all great brunch and good wine selection. I paired my lunch with the local Chateau St Michelle/Dr Loosen Riesling.
This was our 2nd visit for the fabulous "fried chicken Wednesdays" event at Purple. As with the first time, the chicken was perfectly cooked, crunchy and flavorful but not greasy! The sides are outrageous, especially the biscuit which is almost as big as a small baby's head! Layers of crumbly wonderfulness. The wine pairing was also just right - AIX Rose, yum!
Everything about our dining experience at The Purple Café and Wine Bar was excellent. We celebrated our nineteenth wedding anniversary at TPCWB and were pleasantly surprised when both the hostess and our server acknowledged it. Our food was delicious and served at a pleasant pace, allowing us to enjoy our meal without rushing.
Had the calamari, Steelhead, and apple juice sorbet. The food was delicious, the service very good, and appreciate the corkage fee.
The hard surfaces make the noise in the restaurant almost unbearable. Way too loud when the restaurant is full with people trying to out talk each other and hear each other above all the noise. The result is people talk even louder ! Calmed down after an hour which made dinner that much better. Employees should be compensated for future hearing loss.
DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! Felt cheated.
Went to this place Sunday for lunch as it is one of the restaurants listed in the Seattle Restaurant week website. The waiter told us, "I don't know anything like that. I just came back from my vacation." in an arrogant tone after we asked him about Seattle Restaurant week discount.
It took almost 10 min until his manager came to our table. He told us they do NOT have that lunch deal since it's Sunday (when they have a special brunch.) I explained that Seattle Restaurant week deal includes that Sunday, and asked him why. He said, "maybe there was a confusion or something on the Seattle Restaurant website's side."
Basically no one of them said no word of apology (even for the confusion they created.)
So glad that Woodinville has an upscale restaurant that is out of the beaten path. Same great quality as expected from their Seattle, Bellevue, and Kirkland location. Don't forget to bring a bottle of wine with you as the first cork is waved.
Great food, and the menu is always rotating with the season.
We had a group of 10 this last weekend and the restaurant really did a great job accommodating us and the service was great! Unfortunately, we were disappointed in the food. The meatloaf was bland and the crab pasta was horrible (we had to send it back). To the restaurant's credit, they comp'd us the pasta (THANK YOU!). I expected better food as I've have had great meals at Purple before and this location being right in the middle of Woodinville wine-tasting should do better. I will come back, but I likely won't plan a large group here in the near future.
If you can handle the noise level, Purple has a great menu. Our server Breauna, was fantastic and offered some great suggestions. We were celebrating our anniversary and she even brought out our dessert with two little candles on it. We dined early on a Saturday, 5:15pm, and the noise was already at peak levels. Having been there before, we were expecting that and knew we would not be having a quiet, intimate dinner. Food was fantastic as usual.
We were able to get an early table for two using the Open Table App on my cell phone and we were seated immediately upon arrival. The place was bustling with most tables full by 630 pm. Our waitperson was very pleasant and provided outstanding service throughout the evening along with the assistance of others to serve and check on us whenever they passed our table. The extra attention was a very nice touch leading to the outstanding rating for service. The Ambiance was downgraded slightly due to the overly "energetic" noise levels. The food was outstanding as usual and we would definitely recommend the dinner to a friend.
Great service greagt food what can I say. I feel that this Purple has the best menu and cooks. The food was very wonderful along with the wine. Service was perfect and it was great to sit outside and enjoy the nice day. TGhey have heat lamps that help keep the chill off.
Eight friends, all in their 60s or 70s plus two in their 80s, travelled to the Hollywood Hill Block Party for a fun time. We came from Anacortes, an hour and 40 minutes north, intent on trying something new. I had had lunch at the Purple 5 years earlier and remembered how much I liked it.
Our waitperson, Benjamin, agreed to separate checks, helped me find a hard cider on the menu, brought extra plates for sharing, and made everyone feel well cared for.
We ordered pizzas, salads and one steak tips, the very food we wanted, eating at 4:00 before the Block Party began. Our dinner was a party in itself and the prelude to a very entertaining evening.
We went there for our anniversary. The waitress sat us down at a table by the window. It's a cozy environment. Tasty seasonal food. But the best part is the service. The manager came and greet us and gave us complimentary dessert and cheese for our anniversary. Their creme brulee was perfectly baked. The crust is perfectly crisp. It was a memorable experience dinning there. Thanks!
This was my first visit to the Woodinville location as my wife and I have always loved the Kirkland location and had wonderful meals. Very happy to say that all was true at Woodinville as well and that the outdoor dining is even better at this location. The food and service are outstanding. Simply a wonderful place to relax and be pampered with a great meal
