Purple Cafe and Wine Bar - Woodinville Ratings and Reviews
When we arrived for our reservation the noise level already precluded table conversation and then a child upstairs started screaming and yelling continuously. It was UNBEARABLE and the manager did nothing about it even though several tables, including ours, requested to be moved. He finally addressed the issue and asked those unbelievably rude patrons to leave. It had ruined the first 45 minutes of our evening and the salted caramels he gave us at the end were nice, but not enough. Also 2 of the 4 people in our party came specifically for the quinoa salad and it was off the menu. There need to be more salad options, heavy and light.
This restaurant is always loud, but when screaming children are allowed to stay without the manager's intervention, in the evening, the whole dinner is ruined.
Made reservations for a weekend brunch here since The Commons were booked - left just as happy! We got seated right away and the food was great. The only thing that lacked a little was the service, it took 15 minutes to even get a drink order in, but it was OK. We were celebrating my birthday and we got treated to a complimentary dessert. :) Lovely experience, will be back!
Food was mediocre. I got the short ribs and cannot honestly say it was delightful. Taste was lacking. We also got dessert which I chose the brownie. Brownie was super crunch on top. Quality/price wasn’t great.
We’ve been prob ten minutes, and sadly this round the food was lacking.
Great service though.
Purple Cafe in Woodinville is reliably good, if a little noisy when crowded, as it was when we first arrived. Had a pork chop special, with pomegranate sauce and seeds, served with an outstanding vegetable medley. We have eaten there for both lunch and dinner maybe 6-8 times and have never had a bad experience with food or service. Not particularly cheap pricing, but well prepared. House wine is perfectly fine, but they could use a few more offerings in the beer department. Nothing offered on draft.
We visit Purple Cafe at least every six weeks. This weeks visit was OK, not great. I ordered the New York Strip 10 oz for $37.00. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfect, yet the cut itself was terribly fatty and tough. Not what I have come to expect from the Purple Cafe. Hopefully our next visit redeems the restaurant.
We arrived several minutes prior to our 6:45 PM reservation and were seated immediately. Service was attentive without being intrusive. The menu was creative and offered a number of interesting choices in all categories. The wine list is large and offers a reasonable range of local, regional and international selections, although the "by the glass" offerings are, in my opinion, too limited. The food was excellent, presented nicely and promptly without being rushed. I was unimpressed with the dessert menu, but that just made it easier to avoid unnecessary sweets. Parking in this location can be a bit of a challenge on busy nights, so arrive early. An overflow lot is available but not particularly easy to find at night or clearly marked.
The waitress had a lukewarm personality, not overly friendly but not overly rude. I had asked for some dietary modifications which I have had before there without problem; she seemed like she was irritated at my request and seemed bothered we didn't order wine. Maybe she was thinking about her tip? We just didn't feel like having wine that night. Also, a lack of creativity that night when I had requested a protein (filet mignon) and veggies (roasted potatoes and onions) gf and dairy free. Usually the chef makes a good gf, df demi glace with the entrée. Not that night....everything was dry and tasteless. I had to ask for olive oil to drizzle on my food. All in all, it wasn't terrible but the service was lackluster as well as the food that night.
Girls Night Out for restaurant week. Thanks for accommodating an indecisive group of ladies... Our reservation changed from 6, to 8, back down to 6 and the restaurant took it all in stride... Great service, lovely wine suggestions and no issues with our group ordering from different menus (some Restaurant Week menu, others from the regular menu). Everything was excellent.
My wife and I were having an evening "get together" with people who have been friends of ours for many years. We were looking for something close by that had a good reputation. All of us had eaten at another Purple so we thought we would give the one in Woodinville a try. We were happy with the food and the service. I had their meatloaf, and do not let the name fool you. This was almost like having a sirloin steak. The glaze was excellent as was the meat itself. If there is a downside to the restaurant, it can be noisy, almost like a high school cafeteria so if this is going to be a "date" night for some quiet time and conversation, look elsewhere. Otherwise, I have no problem recommending Purple for a place for a nice meal and nice wine (no hard alcohol is served there).
