Purple Cafe and Wine Bar - Woodinville Ratings and Reviews
OpenTable reservations at 2pm, arrived shortly prior, finding a very, very busy restaurant and hostess. Several minutes after checking in, and standing with my mom, basically in the small entrance area and adjacent to unfortunate customers whose table is near the entrance, another Host or Waiter asked who he could help next. I stepped forward, mentioned I had reservations for 2 at 2pm. The Hostess quickly turned from assisting another, said "I've covered that", and the newer Host led us to our upstairs table. I was surprised to only see 2 other tables occupied, of approximately 7 upstairs. Unsure why we had to wait.
Irregardless, the inconvenience was forgotten as soon as our waitress, Riley, came to our table with a cheery, friendly persona. She allowed mom and I to chat, and did not act bothered at our delay in ordering.
I did not receive any resistance when asking for turkey on the chopped salad, and mom's veggie burger looked very good within a toasted bun. Cutting the burger in half made it more manageable to eat for her. Both dishes were good flavored, and adequate portions.
Having dined and enjoyed wine here before, I do like the offerings, and give high marks to Riley for being cognizant of when to approach customers and check on them and their meal. However, I have to ding Purple-Woodinville for how loud it is in their establishment. A few times mom or I had to repeat what we said to each other, due to the ambient sound level. One of our conversations included how we would buffer the noise. Haha!
Overall, I would recommend Purple-Woodinville, especially on a sunny day. Post lunch or dinner, you can easily walk to tasting rooms, or walk the neighborhood to catch up on conversation that was missed inside, due to the volume.
I can always count on Purple in Woodinville for a great meal. The back room is quite loud and drafty, so I would recommend asking to not be seated in there. The food is great. A couple people had the veggie burger this time and it was outstanding. Best veggie burger any of us had tried.
Our appetizer was great and my steak was perfect but the chicken marsala was dry and once the small amount of sauce was gone it wasn't edible. Our wonderful waitress comped the marsala since 80% of it was left on the plate. Surprised to have a bad meal. Never happened before.
The staff were really wonderful in helping me make my mom feel special on her birthday. I brought flowers in beforehand which the front desk put in a vase for me and had placed on the table prior to our arrival. They also helped me preorder some appetizers. Our server was great, helpful yet unobtrusive. I believe the Manager stopped by our table to wish my mom a happy birthday. Wonderful team at this location!
Have been to purple Café several times, unfortunately today was a disappointment! Went for my daughter‘s 25th birthday, the food was delicious per usual but the whole experience was a let down due to the extremely poor service! It was surprising and all that much more disappointing since usually they are at the top of the game!
My wife and I came here on a Friday night to celebrate her birthday per a recommendation from a close friend. Regardless of our reservation we were put in a dark corner under the stairs. It was a busy night with the usual east-side housewife crowd, and my request to move to another table was promptly denied with no follow-up concern. The food was good, but not great. All of our dishes seemed to be very heavy on sauce, which usually raises my concerns on the quality of the actual food being delivered. The romaine salad was both our favorite. The baked brie was okay despite the raving recommendations, and the sweet crackers served with it was very weird. We would not recommend this for a "special occasion" destination, but it would suffice for a happy hour or post wine-tasting bite.
It seemed that they were short staffed. Out waitress did a good job when she was available but there was quite a wait. It was also very noisy and it was difficult to hear each other at our table. This may not be the best place for group dining for those of us who are over 60 and want to hear each other.
It was my dad's 91st birthday. The waiter was very accommodating and they comp'd a dessert for him. The only thing is it was a bit on the dark side, and a little loud, and for seniors like my dad it was perhaps a bit too much. But he did really enjoy the food and the company!
My meal was amazing! We were with another couple celebrating my husbands birthday and only 2 of us had a good meal. Both my husband and friend ordered the filet and with a hefty price of $42 I would expect an amazing steak! My husbands meal in general was cold ans they both complained that the cut wasn’t good for a filet- very tough to cut. My friend sent hers back and was unable to order something else since the server said it would be a least a half hour to prepare anything.
The table next to us also had 4 seated until their friends joined them and they added another 4. Between the high pitched voices and the woman who insisted and standing in my personal space with her behind literally in my face that was super annoying. They never figured out that they were being crazy loud and apparently don’t care about personal space.
I would try the place again but I was disappointed for sure.
Saturday night out and Purple is nearby. Was thrilled to see that they changed their reservation policy to accept last-minute reservations. They used to cut them off early in the day.
Had great service and superb food. We will be back because we love the Heavy Restaurants. Great local places.
We so thoroughly enjoyed our brunch at Purple! The menu is eclectic, offering interesting choices for everyone. My husband and I had the classic breakfast offering. Our eggs were cooked perfectly to our request, as was the delicious bacon. The hash brown herbed potatoes were so very tasty. Our adult son had a wonderful kale Caesar Salad, with steak, and it was absolutely fantastic! Service is always superb! Awesome experience!
I've been to Purple Cafe many times and it hasn't been on my top 10 list of favorite restaurants but that is changing. I had the best chicken salad at the Woodinville location and will be going back soon to have it again. It is cozy in the winter with a nice fireplace. Parking can be a challenge so plan ahead.
My husband and I went to Purple to celebrate an anniversary. The service was amazing with Bryan, and the food delicious. Bryan was super-attentive to our every need and made us feel so relaxed and unrushed. We enjoyed every bite of our dinner and were delighted with the complimentary desserts that were offered to celebrate the occasion. The only suggestion we would make would be to offer a little more illumination for reading the menu. Bryan came to our rescue with a little pen flashlight! The Purple never disappoints. We'll always look to sit in Bryan's section for our next visits there.
A very good dining experience with our daughter and husband who were visiting from Colorado. Service was friendly and the menu had a variety of interesting choices. A favorite was the bacon wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes and carrots. Reasonably price pairing of wine with the entree.
Service was slow. Hubby got his wine right away, but we needed to remind our waiter that we had ordered two glasses of wine. He had forgotten what I had ordered. When the food arrived it was quite cold - my crab cakes Benedict was lukewarm, but hubby's quiche was cold inside. Had it been at proper serving temperature, the food would have been outstanding!
I like this restaurant BUT the noise level is way too high. It is difficult to hear your companions and you are always speaking loudly just to be heard. This has been the case always at this restaurant. I wish they would fix this problem. The noise does not add "energy"; instead it is exhausting and such a relief to leave.
When we arrived for our reservation the noise level already precluded table conversation and then a child upstairs started screaming and yelling continuously. It was UNBEARABLE and the manager did nothing about it even though several tables, including ours, requested to be moved. He finally addressed the issue and asked those unbelievably rude patrons to leave. It had ruined the first 45 minutes of our evening and the salted caramels he gave us at the end were nice, but not enough. Also 2 of the 4 people in our party came specifically for the quinoa salad and it was off the menu. There need to be more salad options, heavy and light.
This restaurant is always loud, but when screaming children are allowed to stay without the manager's intervention, in the evening, the whole dinner is ruined.
Made reservations for a weekend brunch here since The Commons were booked - left just as happy! We got seated right away and the food was great. The only thing that lacked a little was the service, it took 15 minutes to even get a drink order in, but it was OK. We were celebrating my birthday and we got treated to a complimentary dessert. :) Lovely experience, will be back!
