Outstanding service and amazing food! The wine selection and ambiance is awesome too! I highly recommend this place.
Excellent atmosphere, food and service!
I have always loved Purple Cafe in Seattle, both the food and the ambiance. However, this time the food just wasn't as good as it should have been. The mushroom rigatoni was bland and barely had any mushrooms in it, the lamb burger was petite and over-cooked, and the baked brie, as good as it is, is still being served with a tasteless flatbread/cracker that almost detracts from the rest of the appetizer. The chopped salad, however, was excellent. I will probably use the rest of my gift cards for Heavy restaurant group at Barrio, and check back in with Purple in a year or so to see if they have improved things. Next time I'm downtown, I'll opt for Palomino, which I have never been disappointed in.
Great staff. Food was excellent. Fun atmosphere.
Good food. Friendly service. Respectful of theater performance time. Did not expect the noise level - hard to have conversation (at least at our table). More expensive than I was prepared for- for example $19 for glass of red wine - $33 for smallish short ribs, charged extra for substitution of broccoli for potatoes.
Purple Cafe has good food and service. Be aware that it can be very loud from noon to 1pm. After 1 pm, lunch is very pleasant with conversation possible! The pizza is very good. The kale caesar salad is very flavorful, but you need to add protein or you will be hungry about 1 hour later. Good wine selection.
The food was really good but Maddie our server was exceptional! So nice and helpful so had to give her a shout out. We had the calamari (delicious), purple salad, seafood stew and crab roll sandwich, all were very good!
The food was delicious and there was a very good selection of wine at reasonable prices.
Server was a real asset. He made recommendations and split the entrees and their wine pairings so that we could both sample. Food was very good. The Brussel sprout app and the short rib entrée were both stars and the wines they were paired with were perfect. The noise level was high initially, but improved as the happy hour crowd diminished.
My first time here and just can't say enough about how much I loved it! Great service, amazing food and all around fantastic experience. Highly recommend!
Two of met for lunch. We were about 20 minutes early, so we sat at the bar instead of waiting for our table. The bar worked out great. I had sherry mushroom soup and kale Caesar salad. Both delicious! My friend had a Moroccan chickpea dish which she enjoyed as well.
There were five of us “escaping” from a conference for a dinner in town and what a dinner it was! We shared the roasted cauliflower, calamari, and crab cakes - tasty and interesting. Our main courses were excellent and we ended the meal with the predictably fabulous creme brûlée and chocolate caramels. Go - you’ll be glad you did.
Excellent wait staff. Good humored, but not irritating
Good cocktails and food! Noise level boarders on getting loud, but is more of an energetic vibe.
Great food. Close to Benaroya hall for concert. Staff was very conscious of our schedule to attend a concert.
Very disappointing. I've dined here several times but this experience was not my favourite. My husband and son ordered the baked Brie and it was cold inside. My son sent his back and they made another one. The second one was freezing inside absolutely unbelievable. The managers came to talk to us but one of them stated "we know you are upset but we didn't do it on purpose". Unbelievably stupid comment. However they did cancel the check for what we had all ordered up to that point which was decent of them. Unfortunately it just spoilt the evening.
We really liked the location and the food. It was near our downtown hotel and the food was excellent. The acoustics are NOT good since it is a large open space with high ceilings. The waitress, who was very good, did not hear my order correctly and delivered the wrong meal. She quickly corrected the problem and a wonderful meal came shortly thereafter.
Again, great food and service, but not an intimate place for conversation.
Night out with mom
We had the best time! Everyone was so nice--from the minute we walked in the door-until we left for the theater. They made me feel so special (celebrating my birthday). I look forward to going back soon. Thank you!
The experience was far beyond our expectations! The ambiance, cocktails, food and service all great. We will be going back when we visit Seattle again. We go up often and this by far is one of our favorites!
Excellent service, 5 starts+++. Waiter kept on bringing more and more complementary deserts and drinks!
Amazing ambience. First time there and we were sat by the window with a great view. Food was excellent. Cheese and meat place was so delicious. The wine was even better. Thank you for the recommendation!!!!!
Delicious food, great wine selection, and love that each menu item comes with a recommended wine pairing (and our server had several backup recommendations when we asked, too). Sourdough bread was great to start with, and the mains were delicious as well - short rib and the mushroom pasta. Will definitely be back!
Kitchen brought us the wrong food or missed portions of our food. Waiter was ok, didn't seem to care much about interacting with customers. Best thing was the atmosphere and decor.
Food was better than the wine. Way too much french wine when you have great Washington wine, and good Napa wine down the coast. Why French?!
Salad bar and found out the bartender/waitstaff we’re not very attentive. They also were not very helpful when I was ordering. Me absolutely no advice, and didn’t warn me at how big the bread appetizer was. I ordered it and they saw that I was by myself and the fact that they could not tell me that it was enough for two or three people was disappointing. The woman sitting next to me said the same thing.
I ordered the short ribs which came out lukewarm and barely tasteless.
The kale salad was delicious as was the desert chocolates. Was delicious as was the desert chocolates. Also thought the wine list was terrific
Food was awesome and priced accordingly. Very noisy due to open air environment. Service was challenged due to how crowded it was.
Had lunch with my daughter. Food was excellent and showed up quickly, dedpite large crowd. Being busy did not affect quality at all. Server was outgoing and engaging despite being very busy. We eat in town often and this was one of our most memorable occasions.
The food was delicious, everyone that worked there was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about pairings.
We had a very nice evening at the Purple Cafe in Seattle before going to the 5th Avenue Theatre. It was perfect for easy access to the theatre (a block away).
We went after a theatre matinee and it was perfect as always. I’ve been to this Purple location at least every year since it opened and have never had a bad meal or tasted a wine I didn’t absolutely fall in love with. The staff is always so friendly and very attentive. Thanks Purple people for always treating us like we’re celebrities!
Great wine options!
My girlfriend and I had our anniversary dinner here and above all the service was amazing. The server was professional and pour our wine like a pro. Our orders were taken quickly but we didn't feel rushed, and our food came very quickly, even on a busy evening. I'm sure this place is suitable for other occasions too, but I would recommend it for sure for those looking for a nice date night.
There for a date and they put us *right* next to the front door. We had to leave our jackets on because the cold kept blowing in every time the door opened. And our table was literally 6 inches from the one next to us. I was closer to the guy next to us than I was to my date. Very awkward. Not impressed.
Food and wine bar. Exceptional list of wines, food...not so great. Everything was over cooked and dry. I ordered the braised shortrib paired with the recommended wine. The shortrib was too lean lending to it's stringiness and dryness. The wine paired well with the sauce on the plate.
My date had the seafood stew. Good amount of seafood wetted with a small amount of stew. The seafood again was overcooked and tough. My date really liked the stew's flavor though.
Service was good and the restaurant was beautiful. For a place named purple, there weren't any purple menu items.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Great service, delicious unpretentious food, impeccable wine pairing and quite possibly the best apricot baked brie I’ve ever tasted.
Enjoyed some of the entrees but service problems spoiled the meal. I received the wrong entree so the waiter offered to replace it or send it in addition to the entree they delivered, but we had waited so long that I declined and took the plate they brought. After the server left, I realized the entree was barely warm.
When they delivered the entrees, I ordered another glass of wine. It was delivered as we finished our meal, with no apology for the slow service.
I would not return to this restaurant because the service (and some of the food) did not match the atmosphere or prices charged.
Seafood stew was a very small portion for $29 and the mussels were bad. Wait staff was helpful and brought me replacements but not impressed with Purple. Used to dine at Purple when they had a Kirkland location and it never disappointed.
