Purple Cafe and Wine Bar - Seattle Ratings and Reviews
We went for a girls night dinner celebrating a friends birthday. The service was incredible, C.T. went above and beyond making our experience fantastic. The wine pairings were amazing and we will definitely be back.
Thank you for one of the best meals in a very long time.
Not a place for quiet fine dining. The noise level was higher than that which we heard just before the opening of Mama Mia at the 5th Avenue with a full audience. I can't recall having been in such a loud and noisey restaurant. When trying to order wine and a meal with the waiter, I had to raise my voice and speak the same request multiple times. Unbelievable. I'm a fan of Bolognese so ordered that for my entree. I've never had Bolognese which wasn't made with a tomato base and Purple's Bolognese is very different with a flavor I was unable to identify. I didn't care for it. We have never paid $12.50 for a glass of wine but being my birthday, why not. The Pinot Grigio was so-so, as I've had better. The bill came to $95 before tip. Given the experience we endured at Purple, I should have reserved a table at Il Terrazo Carmine where for a similar price, we could have enjoyed a quiet, fine dining experience like the many we have enjoyed at Carmines before. Purple is a place for the 20's, 30's and maybe 40's generation, not for seniors desiring an enjoyable dining experience where one can actually hold a conversation with one's bride.
Purple is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Seattle! Boasting a stunning view and wine collection, this restaurant is perfect for a date, special occasion, or just a beautiful dinner. Top notch service, food, wine, and atmosphere. Can't say enough good things!
We had a very good pre Hamilton dinner here:) Good service, good food and the prices did not make me want to cry. Amazing selection of wine by the glass. I had the lamb burger and it was fantastic. The restaurant should pay a little more attention to the bathroom facilities, it was not gross, but it was not supper clean and there is some shelving falling down in the Men's room. Also I noticed boxes of wine stacked on the really cool wine staircase/cellar centerpiece of the restaurant, which seems a little tacky for a restaurant in the high rent district.
When Purple called to confirm they asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. I told them that it was my husband’s birthday. Unfortunately, the caller didn’t make a note of that and they gave us about the worst table in the house. We were right by the door and had people milling around our table and despite the tenting felt the draft from outside. I continually feel that booking via OpenTable guarantees that you will get the worst table in the house.
Very disappointed! I have been to this restaurant on prior occasions and it was wonderful! During this visit however, the trout and pork chop were extremely salty. Purple also used to take great pride in their plating. These were not attractive plates as the food resembled a good day at Denny's. Sorry Purple, we will be seeking alternative dining options.
The food was really tasty. Everything I had was a pleasure to the taste buds. The staff was very attentive and provided excellent service. However, this location when busy becomes cacophonous; to the point of being unable to hear what my girlfriend was saying some of the time. Another thing to note is how cold this location is, with the heavy doors opening and closing and the waitstaff unable to change the thermostat it results in a very frigid environment. If you eat be sure to bundle up! Overall I would have to rate this restaurant 3 stars out of 5.
The food was good, the service was great. The only place that they fell down significantly was in non-alcoholic drinks. There were house made shrubs, but other than that it was slim pickings on tea or fast food style fountain sodas (coke, sprite). If you go with a designated driver or anyone under 21 it's a problem. My daughter and I both tried a strawberry basil shrub, but vinegar drinks aren't for everyone.
Purple has always been on my top ten list. It can be casual or you can step it up, they don't care if you don't. Food is always great, although next time I promised myself to branch out and try some of the other specialties, but it hard to beat their chop salad and turkey sandwich for lunch.
