I've been coming here since they originally opened. However, this is the first time back in 2-3 years. The food is not as good as I remembered it to be. I had a spicy chicken sandwich that wasn't spicy and just plain ordinary. Not bad in any way but just ordinary. Two others at our table felt the same way about their burger and caesar salad with shrimp. The one person who really liked their meal got the chopped salad. Aside from the food, the ambiance and service was great but it is quite loud, even at 50% capacity.
Wine selection was not as diverse as I had hoped. The duo glasses of wine were a great idea. Food selection was fair and was good.
We love the ambiance here, and always dine while in Seattle. This spot is beautiful, and the staff has always been great. Wonderful small plates to share and fun to explore local wines.
Tables were well-spaced so it didn't feel crowded, servers wore masks, and the food was fantastic.
They seemnto be struggling with COVID like many. The food was just OK - over seasoned steak frite; served the wrong temperature; the apple/cherry tart was served in a little foil baking foil that resembled school lunch fare and was hard to eat from. Service was strained but pleasant. The ambiance is loud due to the cavernous space and people not using indoor voices.
Beautiful setting with great food
Absolutely delicious. A wonderful atmosphere and lovely waitstaff.
Loved the place. Very “instagram” worthy. Ambience was really nice. Me and my friends got the chicken marsala, fried chicken burger, hamachi (hamachi crude?) and pesto. For the price of these food, i expected the food to taste better
Conclusion: i liked the food but didnt match the value
Awesome service, awesome food, such a cool atmosphere— love it!
Getting shabby in there. Indifferent service. Very good food but, really, so many better places in town for same or less $$.
Unless you absolutely love the look of this place it’s just not memorable or special. Unfortunately.
Great space! Great service! Great food! Great wine! What else do I have to say.
The bar tender was super awesome!!!!! He made our night! :)
My Chicken Marsala dish was delicious but my husband’s meal was mixed…halibut was delicious and hot but the vegetables were cold. We let our waiter know.
They need to serve olive oil with the appetizer bread. Even when we asked for it they said they had none.
Other than that, phenomenal place. Would revisit again and again.
It was our second visit to this restaurant and it did not disappoint.
Service was exceptional as well as the wine list. Food was excellent. We will be back!
Side salad was unadorned... just lettuce and almost nonexistent dressing... could have used at a minimum some parmigiana shavings. Vodka pasta was too spicy. It would have been nice to have been warned that it would be spicier than normal. Appreciated advice on wine selection.
I don’t remember our waiter’s name but he was outstanding! Knowledgeable about wine pairing as well as food..
Definitely, not worth the wait time for the reservation at 9:30 p.m.. Food options were limited. Halibut was over done and over salted. Nothing really available for a 12 year old except an expensive adult dinner of a hamburger. Maybe people come for the wine options.
The best spot in downtown Seattle - beautiful restaurant, beautiful ambiance and service was fantastic
Cutest place and yummy food
Amazing atmosphere and ambience! Great date place!
Lucked out with end of the night reservation and everything was great. We loved all items ordered from drinks and appetizer to main dishes.
Jacob was an awesome bartender!!
We loved the duo wine options. Great selection! Food was delicious, highly recommend the halibut!
We had a family vacation dinner in this impressive space with floor to 25 foot ceiling windows and a huge iron door. Behind the bar is a cylindrical wine storage area that divides the room. Our salads were amazing, the Caesar with a hint of spiciness and the Purple chopped salad with sunflower seeds, followed by delicately fried and tender calamari with aioli spicy mayonnaise. Grilled cheese with tomato soup and vegan loaded sweet potato were very good. Basil pesto pasta with peas and shrimp added was amazing (next day as leftovers as well) and top awards went to crab macaroni and cheese with grayer and loads of crab. Large, perfectly-cooked chocolate chip cookie was a perfect companion to vanilla bean creme brûlée . Wonderful wines and drinks as well.
Wow fantastic wine at fair prices combined with simply outstanding service. How can you beat this place? We stayed next-door at the Fairmont and walked over and it was a great decision. The crabcakes were the best we’ve ever had and we are out of San Francisco area so we know crab cakes
Highly recommend is fantastic wine bar restaurant with the most amazing interior
Our young waiter was so nice and so knowledgeable. This is a destinations stop
We certainly understand that things are a little complex during this Covid time, but service was very slow! Took awhile for our server to come and welcome us and take our drink order and then it took quite awhile for our drinks to come! Food order came out in a timely manner! Overall our server just did not seem interested in giving good service! Purple is a great place and we will certainly come again, and hopefully service will improve as things get back to normal!
Great food and drinks. Nice atmosphere.
Woww what a service Eddie and Carolyn there were amazing the food was wonderful I’ll definitely coming back again. Never had Profecional service like this
The Purple Cafe and Wine Bar carries a large selection of wine and other beverages. I love all the wines we tried and the staff was super lovely in recommending us to his personal favorites. The food, in my opinion, is slightly overpriced. I would come here for a few glasses of wine and a cheese plate to pair.
I was throwing a bday dinner. We initially had a reservation for 6. But had to increase the party size to 10. The host was very nice to accommodate the request.
The ambience was amazing and so was the wine suggested by the steward
Although we had a reservation, we were seated upstairs in the bar. Chairs very uncomfortable, bar-like atmosphere for an expensive restaurant. Service slow, food over salted. Had dined there previously but would not return.
Great place very friendly and great drinks. Would definitely come back.
We had three appetizers that were out of this world!! The mac&cheese was delightful.
The service was excellent and the ambiance was very nice.
The spicy scrimp and fries has this sauce that I would take a bath in😂
No explanation regarding digital menu. Paper card that included menu did not include reference to the digital symbol -- rather, it invited diners to visit the retail wine shop. Given that the restaurant was not busy, long wait for server to visit our table. Earlier visit would have (at least) cleared up confusion about menu. The description of the "Duo" wine option was not made clear by the server. The digital bill-pay option did not work (at least based on the message displayed.) My credit card was still charged, but it's possible it was only a credit hold. Overall, we were not taken care of, which is a baseline expectation when we dine out. The experience was not special.
Service was excellent, but my medium rare steak was actually at the far side of medium well. I’d gladly return based on the service alone, but I’d avoid the steak.
Purple never misses. The entire experience was great!
Amazing Food! Service was little slow. I got my desert spoon 10 mins after getting dessert and dessert was bought alongside Mains. May be one odd day for them. Would definitely give them another try as food and ambiance is amazing. Loved their Chicken Marsala and Basil Pesto Pasta.
Good collection of reds!
