Being a wine bar/restaurant there is an expectation of knowing something about the wines! Both my server and the person who got me started knew nothing about what the profiles were even though I narrowed down 3 types I generally like. No offer to get help so was left on my own to decide. Love the place overall and the food is consistently delicious.
Fantastic food and experience. Would recommend to all
Been here multiple times, one of our favorite Seattle restaurants. The vibe is great, their wine list spectacular and the food is always fabulous.
Was a good experience until time for the bill.
I had connected with the restaurant the day prior, advising them we'd have a group of eight (8) and we'd need to split the bill at the request of my customer. First person I spoke with said it was not a problem and they would explain it to the manager. Upon arrival and seating, I re-confirmed our billing plans with the wait staff, so as to avoid confusion at meal end. Imagine my surprise when the manager showed up immediately and said bill split was not possible. This made for an awkward moment for my customer, my team, and me, and made dinner less than enjoyable.
I won't be going back there.
Good food and wine. More expensive than we expected. $300+ for four people, two of whom were not drinking alcohol. Great atmosphere.
Very nice place, excellent service, food and cocktails. Pretty popular so definitely recommend reservations, good crowd, in downtown area and close to everything with nice ambiance.
Purple has been one of our Seattle favorites for years, so we were excited when it reopened; this was our first time there since late 2019, and it didn't disappoint. The San Marzano tomato soup was as good as ever, the Adobo Roasted Sweet Potato a new experience, and the Steak Frites an old friend. There are always plenty of veggie and gluten-free options, and the liquid side of the menu - particularly aperitifs - is at least as good as the food and definitely invites experimentation. I think I've tried something for the first time on each of many visits and I've never been disappointed (this time it was the El Maestro Sierra Fino Sherry). Service was excellent as usual and staff still operate as a (very busy) team. Bonus: we finally were able to use a gift card we purchased shortly before everything shut down, and even though it didn't register they honored it. Already looking forward to returning next time we're in town.
Our waitress was very attentive. The food was amazing. I am celiac and had a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend
Excellent service, food and ambiance. We will be back!! Crab cakes, steak and fries, and cherry apple crisp are a must
service was so quick and prompt. We ordered the pasta alla vodka and the cranberry chicken salad which both were delightful. Ordered a moscow mules which was one of the best ones i’ve ever had. overall great restaurant and great service
Service was great and enjoyed the ambiance. The food was good and they were very gracious about dividing our two dishes between us before bringing the food to the table.
Very good , help make our vacation special 😊
The space is beautiful and Helen our waitress was so delightful, knowledgeable and welcoming. We look forward to stopping by again on our next visit to Seattle :)
Another terrific meal at the Purple Cafe, I'm never disappointed when I dine here.
Loved the entire experience from beginning to end
It has a lovely and classy ambience. A great place for a date or anniversary celebration. Wonderful wine list and the food is incredible. This was my husband's and my first trip to Seattle and this place was highly recommended. We will definitely go back again when we are back in town.
We went in to celebrate my birthday and it wedding anniversary. The food is absolutely amazing and the ambiance was perfect. Service was a little bit slow however, it was a busy night. I highly recommend this restaurant. It's a little bit pricy but totally worth it. Great place for date night and celebrations.
Purple Café never disappoints. I try to have a meal here every time I'm in Seattle. Great food, great drinks and great fun.
Celebrating college grad
I've been coming here since they originally opened. However, this is the first time back in 2-3 years. The food is not as good as I remembered it to be. I had a spicy chicken sandwich that wasn't spicy and just plain ordinary. Not bad in any way but just ordinary. Two others at our table felt the same way about their burger and caesar salad with shrimp. The one person who really liked their meal got the chopped salad. Aside from the food, the ambiance and service was great but it is quite loud, even at 50% capacity.
The eclectic Caesar salad was crudely prepared and not tasty. The burger seemed made from inferior beef and it contained many unchewable pieces.
Wine selection was not as diverse as I had hoped. The duo glasses of wine were a great idea. Food selection was fair and was good.
We love the ambiance here, and always dine while in Seattle. This spot is beautiful, and the staff has always been great. Wonderful small plates to share and fun to explore local wines.
Tables were well-spaced so it didn't feel crowded, servers wore masks, and the food was fantastic.
They seemnto be struggling with COVID like many. The food was just OK - over seasoned steak frite; served the wrong temperature; the apple/cherry tart was served in a little foil baking foil that resembled school lunch fare and was hard to eat from. Service was strained but pleasant. The ambiance is loud due to the cavernous space and people not using indoor voices.
Beautiful setting with great food
Absolutely delicious. A wonderful atmosphere and lovely waitstaff.
Loved the place. Very “instagram” worthy. Ambience was really nice. Me and my friends got the chicken marsala, fried chicken burger, hamachi (hamachi crude?) and pesto. For the price of these food, i expected the food to taste better
Conclusion: i liked the food but didnt match the value
Awesome service, awesome food, such a cool atmosphere— love it!
Getting shabby in there. Indifferent service. Very good food but, really, so many better places in town for same or less $$.
Unless you absolutely love the look of this place it’s just not memorable or special. Unfortunately.
Great space! Great service! Great food! Great wine! What else do I have to say.
The bar tender was super awesome!!!!! He made our night! :)
My Chicken Marsala dish was delicious but my husband’s meal was mixed…halibut was delicious and hot but the vegetables were cold. We let our waiter know.
They need to serve olive oil with the appetizer bread. Even when we asked for it they said they had none.
Other than that, phenomenal place. Would revisit again and again.
It was our second visit to this restaurant and it did not disappoint.
Service was exceptional as well as the wine list. Food was excellent. We will be back!
Love the ambiance… the waiter was so kind to give us a tour of the spiral wine cellar.
The food portions were perfect, not too much.
Quality is significantly palatable.
Side salad was unadorned... just lettuce and almost nonexistent dressing... could have used at a minimum some parmigiana shavings. Vodka pasta was too spicy. It would have been nice to have been warned that it would be spicier than normal. Appreciated advice on wine selection.
I don’t remember our waiter’s name but he was outstanding! Knowledgeable about wine pairing as well as food..
Definitely, not worth the wait time for the reservation at 9:30 p.m.. Food options were limited. Halibut was over done and over salted. Nothing really available for a 12 year old except an expensive adult dinner of a hamburger. Maybe people come for the wine options.
