Purple Cafe and Wine Bar - Seattle
We feature an expansive menu ranging from artisan cheeses, starters, soups, salads, sandwiches and pizzas to pasta and seafood. We take a great deal of pride in utilizing the most fresh and local ingredients.
On the wine side of things our wine list features over 80 glass and 600 bottle selections. Over the years our wine program has been recognized with various accolades that include an "Award of Ultimate Distinction" from Wine Enthusiast Magazine and being named "Best Wine Bar" by Evening Magazine's Best of Western Washington Viewers Poll.
We had a reservation and were seated almost immediately upon arrival. Service was good - not too much or too little attention. Food was good. Poke was not spicy, but sweet. Not expected and not the preference, but it was edible. Roast beef dip sandwich with bone broth dip was fantastic!
Huge wine menu and decent food menu. Prices of wine go from average to “wow! What do they do for a living?!” Ha! No, but really - there’s something to fit most budget levels.
I love Purple. It’s one if my favorites. I e been many many times and hope to keep going for many years to come!
Everything was perfect. We were sat within 2 minutes and had water brought right away. Our drinks were delicious, and the appetizer and entrees were brought out hot, timely and yummy!
Our service was excellent and so was the food
Service was wonderful! Food was great and always came out hot. Appreciated that the server brought out our appetizers at seperate times because the tastes wouldn't have paired well together. Wine was SO good. Fantastic night!
Best restaurant experience I’ve had in a while! The wine pairings with each of the dishes were absolutely fantastic.
The food was delicious! We did have to ask for a different bread basket as the one we were served was as hard as croutons.
Very nice evening. From the time we entered, through the meal, we not only were treated extremely well but very much enjoyed our evening.
Fantastic. Loved our experience and will definitely be back
Risotto was lukewarm. Service was very lackluster. Our server just seemed to be going through the motions. We were seated in a very cramped corner of the restaurant. It's a very cool space that would be good for drinks only.
Very disappointed on the food and service.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, but the restaurant is very noisy with no soft surfaces to absorb sound. The lightning was so dim I needed My cellphone flashlight to read it. My chicken salad was tasty with lots of chicken and crunchy apple slices. My companion had risotto, which she said was excellent. We shared a piece of apple cake for dessert. It was a small serving and a little on the dry side but came with ice cream which helped.
Our server was friendly, accommodating, and efficient.
We had a great experience for a birthday dinner! They had a few issues with timing, dinner took a while to come out and it took extra time to get water when we first sat down. That being said, they went above and beyond to make it right even though we didn’t say anything. This would have been 4 stars because the food was amazing and our server was incredibly attentive and we understand that mistakes happen. Because they went so far beyond expectations to make it right, it has to be 5 stars! Would highly recommend this place to friends.
Food was delicious - server was knowledgeable about the lengthy wine list - a great meal!
Ordered appetizers at the bar while waiting to be seated and waited a good 30 minutes and still no appetizers.
We had a reservation for 8:15 but the hostess never came over to tell us our table was ready we had to approach her.
Overall not impressed with this restaurant
The space is beautiful and the wines were delicious. The low points for me were the timing of courses, the servers lack of knowledge of the wines they were serving as pairings to the tasting menu and other patrons poor phone etiquette. The other patrons use of FaceTime at the table is somewhat out of their control but we would have appreciated it if any of the the service staff that saw had asked them to take their conversation elsewhere.
We ordered a birthday treat for my daughter and they brought it out with nuts so she could not eat it. The rest of the table was enjoying it and they made a new cake plate just for her without nuts which was very nice of them. Overall experience was excellent.
Very comfortable atmosphere, attentive service, and clean. The food was excellent and overall a great experience.
Service was terrible. Waiter acted like he was superior to us. Even though we had reservations, they sat us at the worst table in the restaurant— no window, and next to the wait station. Will think twice before returning.
We made this reservation a week prior to the visit. We arrived around our reservation time and noticed a large crowd around the hostess area. We were asked if we were in a hurry (odd request) and were seated around our reservation time. When our server came over to us about 10 minutes after we were seated, he told us he was busy and couldn’t really help us at that time. This was before we even spoke to him. He then said, “What we have is on the menu. Read it and I will try to get back over here.” We decided to leave. Disappointing and rude experience!
We went there for our son’s 10th birthday. Our server was fantastic as was the food. My son especially loved the milk flight and the special, dessert. The drinks were a little pricey, but I suppose that’s to be expected in downtown Seattle. Our son already wants us to make reservations for his birthday next year.
Everything about Purple is fantastic & amazing! We’ve been MANY times and have never had a problem.
This time, though, we let them know we needed to leave at a certain time because we were going to the symphony. Well, dessert hadn’t even arrived by that time. It was a little frustrating, but really - nothing like that had ever happened, before, and everything else (service included!!) was PERFECT!!!
I felt comfortable here and enjoyed the dinner—our waiter was kind and generous and refunded us for one meal which took longer to prepare.
Excellent place for a snack or meal before going to the symphony. Service is excellent. We wish there were more vegan choices; the dessert menu is especially lacking in that.
Pricey food ambiance was great service amazing wine selection amazing but over priced
Been to Purple for dinner but never for lunch. Our server was friendly, service was quick and food was delicious and well portioned. The place filled up quickly around noon, so glad I had reservations. Will be a repeat customer!
from Baked Brie to Steak love it. Wine was awesome. Will order bottle of wine next time. Thanks to Rhabbie for a wonderful dinner experience. Will be back.
Server and chef were incredibly nice and flexible in helping my friend find menu items to accommodate food allergies.
Great ambiance. The food and service was awesome!
Been here multiple times and it never disappoints. Highly recommended for a nice dinner or special occasion.
exquisite!!! everything...service, food & atmosphere
The first thing that hits you is the beautiful open space with the wine tower in the center, surrounded by a bar. It is a large space, but feels much smaller. We had a reservation, but it still took a while to be seated. Then the table we were escorted was not ready. Despite the front of house issues, the food was exceptional. Combinations of flavors which were both unique and flavorful. This should be on your list of destinations when in downtown.
Overall very good experience. The speed of food coming from the kitchen was dramatically slower than usual. The food, when it arrived, was of the high quality I have experienced in the past.
Once again, such a great experience. we did two flights, Bordeaux and Syrah. the waiter was extremely knowledgeable and we had some good discussion on the wines. for food we started with the baked brie and finished with the tomato soup and spaghetti. The food, wine and service was exceptional.
Wonderful birthday dinner for my mom! Delicious food, wine, and dessert. Absolutely love the cozy vibes, excellent service, and vegan/vegeterian options! Purple will always be at the top of my list for a nice dinner out.
Came for my birthday, and traveled from Arizona. Fantastic wine, service, and food. It was one of my favorite restaurants I visited in Seattle!
Great, fun eatery in downtown Seattle. The burger was amazing!
Came for restaurant week. The food was good. Best, Letitia
We were happy to be seated upstairs as we wanted to talk. Outstanding food and service. Best crab cakes ever.
I would recommend with reservations/cautions. We allowed 2 hours for dining and received our desert in the last 15 minutes. We waited nearly an hour for our first course. Poor planning on the part of the restaurant made for a poor dining experience.
Great lunch specials and excellent service. The restaurant has a good middle of the day vibe with a mix of business people and visitors. A bit noisy but still fun.
Very disappointed and irritated by the mandatory 20% surcharge ($0 to go to the server) added to the bill, presumably in response to the minimum wage law. Unacceptable business practice.
