Counter seating was great. Ryan was especially great and gave us a lot of great details about the food, we really enjoyed our time!
Terrific experience. Will definitely be back
The food was cooked perfectly amd wine pairing for dine out Boston was a steal!
We had a good time celebrating my 40th birthday! $1 Oysters on Tuesday were awesome and Great Cocktails!
Great service, food, and location. I made a reservation a few days before, because we had a family member visiting from the UK, and wanted a nice Sunday brunch. We arrived on time, and were promptly seated. The service was excellent -- attentive without hovering, relaxed and friendly, all despite the restaurant being quite busy. The good was excellent as always -- the cinnamon buns are highly recommended. This was the first time we've been seated at the front of the restaurant, which was very nice -- good people watching.
Food was above average, but also too greasy/buttery/heavy, and the kitchen was excruciatingly slow. They were working very hard, but it didn't seem like they had a good system in place. For how simple the food was, it should have come out a lot faster (less than 45 minutes).
My mother and I were in on a Friday night and had the best time! Great table up front perfect for people watching. The food was delicious from start to finish and we remarked on how attentive the whole staff was. Not just our lovely server Gray, but everyone who worked there! We felt very well taken care of. This was not out first time in to dine and it won’t be the last! Thanks Puritan! Keep doin what you’re doin
Very nice food.
We always come to Puritan & Co for our anniversary, it's now our tradition starting with the first year. We'd heard about their brunch and kept saying we wanted to try it, so we finally made it happen. Unfortunately it wasn't nearly as outstanding as the dinner service (which is still among the absolute best in Boston), which kind of surprised us. The food was just OK, kind of bland actually, and the service felt kind of rushed. The seating is very tight, so I guess we've been spoiled with the anniversary dinners, and it's difficult to hear conversation in that setting. We still without a doubt love them for dinner, but the brunch was a miss for us.
Delish!! Hard to talk at the bar seating area
Puritan never disappoints! It's become our go-to place for Sunday brunch. (I'm guessing dinner is wonderful, too!)
This is my second time at this restaurant. It is a great addition to Cambridge. Space is really well laid out. Tables are not jammed together. The decor is fun with touches such as old file folders to house the menu. The food is delicious and always different whenever you come.
Food was great. Broccoli appetizer and lamb pasta were amazing. Wait staff were very friendly and informative.
The ambience was a little ho-hum. The experience felt a bit like a camp cafeteria - large room, high ceilings, and loud. Neighbors to my left and right were not using their inside voices. Difficult to carry on conversation at my table. Also there was a corner seat next to us so there was a gentleman facing us, tad awkward at first.
Food is delicious, top notch.
Some inconsistencies in the food from previous times that we had eaten at Putritan . Same dishes but of different quality. Overall a nice dining experience.
Terrible food. Not tasty but more over not fresh. Had to leave some plates full and return the oysters
Puritan & Company is HOME, in our weekend Inman Square condo. We were welcomed after about a two month hiatus (snow, work etc.) with such nearly overwhelming delight last Saturday. Everything about the evening was precisely memorable - the welcome, the food, the wine, the dessert ---the WELCOME! We are fans. Ann Page and Rick Stecker
We adored the atmosphere. Our server, Colin, was a delight. The staff was extremely friendly. The wine list and our selected wine was fantastic (Peter the wine director). We found the Prime Rib Special to be a disappointment. 1/3 of my serving was pure fat. Same with the other diners. The side dishes (Caesar Salad/Creamed Spinach/Carrots/Potato Galette) were very unexceptional. I will try this place again for oysters and wine.
Introduced my in-laws to Puritan over brunch. Multi-generational satisfaction!
Four of us went for brunch. The quiche was dry overcooked bad. The hash horrible tou gh no flavor. Pankakes ok. We couldn't order poached eggs. Not doin that today. Seems everything was pretty made dry serv r 100 people move on. Worst brunch ever.
Need to fix it.relying on volume customers.
It was bad. Wish it wasn't. You can fix this. Just ask me.
This was, by far, the best brunch I've ever had. We ordered a basket of four pastries—maple bacon muffin, cinnamon roll, orange and thyme scone, cashew croissant—and I had the breakfast croissant with bacon, eggs, cheddar, and potatoes. The food sounds simple enough on paper but the flavours are spectacular, and everything was perfectly done. The bacon was smoky and just crunchy enough, the potatoes were salty and wonderfully crisp, the pastries were sweet without being toothache-inducing. The croissants were no limp, crescent-shaped dinner rolls; they were true croissants, buttery and puffed up with layers of crisp, delightful pastry.
Service was great as well, very polite and quick. The restaurant was packed (understandably so; if I lived near Cambridge I'd probably be queuing up outside this place every weekend) so make sure you book a reservation in advance. Floor plan is open and there's not much space between tables, so while it's no place for a hushed, intimate chat, it's not obscenely loud either. But to be honest, even if Puritan was filled with rude waiters and smelled like a dumpster fire, I'd still patronise it often because the food is just that good.
My boyfriend and I came here for brunch, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich, and it was SO buttery good. He ordered the pancakes and enjoyed those too.
I would definitely recommend this place for brunch. The only downside is that without a reservation, it's almost impossible to walk in and get a seat on the weekends.
Our go to special night. A great foodie experience. Wonderful menu, fantastic service
Puritan never ever disappoints, and that is why we chose to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday at the restaurant. The staff is so kind and friendly, and carefully took the time to review the menu and the night's specials with us as we were making our decisions. We had a wonderful dinner, and will certainly be back again.
Valentine’s Day and Husband’s Birthday! Service was pretty good. Food was great. Chef’s tasting menu. Cocktails delish.
This was our first time at this restaurant. I have no idea if it is always this “busy” but people were rushing past our table regularly during our meal. Made it hard to settle in and just absorb the experience.
Granted, it IS Valentines Day and I am quite sure every table needed to turn as quickly as possible, but I would have preferred a bit slower pace.
Had 5:30 reservations on a Sunday night. Didn’t realize that it didn’t open until 5:30. It was pouring rain and they did not open the doors to let us wait in the hallway and yes, they saw us outside as well as other folks. That started the night on a bit of a sour note but we were excited to try the wonderful menu. Once inside the decor is rustic and charming and the staff were super friendly and helpful. We were seated along a wall that had a long cushioned bench. The bench was very uncomfortable. Loved the menu choices and our appetizer-mushroom toast was fabulous. The roasted chicken I was served however, was burnt on the outside and dry on the inside. I do like a crisp skin but this was burnt, as were the potatoes which were unevenly cooked. Roasted chicken seems so simple but I love to order it as there is an art to a great roasted chicken. This one was not good. My husbands meal was wonderful as was the salad. So very mixed reviews. We really wanted to like it but don’t know if we’ll return. And having us waiting outside when there is a sectioned off entry way was very off putting.
This was my fourth visit in the last few months, always for Sunday brunch. Based on past experience, I made sure to make a reservation. Unfortunately, this wasn't very helpful -- we showed up on time, and had to wait nearly 20 minutes to be seated. Oddly, the staff was not at all apologetic for this delay.
The food was, as usual, very good, and the service attentive without being disruptive. I have noticed that the menu doesn't change very much -- some of the ingredients for the quiche and the hash seem to be the only variables. You might keep this in mind if contemplating repeat visits. Regardless, a very good brunch!
I was sadly disappointed with Puritan & Company on my most recent visit. My girlfriends and I wanted to go out to Brunch for 'Galentine's Day' and decided to reserve a table at Puritan & Co. since we've all been there before and enjoyed it. When we arrived, we were told that despite having a reservation from 11:00 - 1:00, we now had to be done by 12:30 because there was another table coming in. We were not expecting to stay super long, but didn't enjoy feeling rushed. On top of that our waitress had to be asked multiple times for things like creamer for coffee and visited our table very infrequently. We were wondering why the service was so slow if we had been told by the hostess that we had a time limit on our brunch. When we were waiting for the check, we saw the staff go over to another table and inform them that they needed to go because they needed the table (even though they had sat down after us). It all made for an uncomfortable experience and, as we have all worked in food service at some point, we were surprised by the poor customer service due to what was poor planning by the host.
Great brunch location. Service and food were terrific. Can accomodate a large group (we were a party of 9). Everyone was happy and there were a few foodies in the group. Definitely will go back!
What a great restaurant! Warm decor, great drinks, wonderful food, and fabulous service.
Great meal team here are super communicative really a great neighborhood spot
we had a lovely meal here for my husband's birthday.
Bitter Brussels sprouts for an additional veg. Pork tenderloin was very fatty.
lovely and delicious, as usual
Wonderful as always. We have been many times, and each time they live up to our high expectations!
Everything was great. Food was delicious.
Always a great experience, and Ian is an excellent bartender
good food, good cocktail, good playlist.
The mushroom toast was excellent and the mushroom pasta was also good, albeit a little on the salty side. No fresh ground pepper was offered, had to ask for it and if was left on the table for us to self grind. Our server was a little slow, but that worked for us this time as it didn't interrupt our conversation, otherwise I would have been more upset about it. With a more engaged server, the experience may have been better.
The best thing about this restaurant during brunch is the sourdough pancakes and their pastries. The egg croissant is to die for. Outside those specialties, the rest is forgettable, they have a broccoli scramble egg that is not very savory, the salmon is regular, nothing exceptional.
Moreover, their servers should smile more and they look like they hate to be there.
