Puritan & Company serves modern American cuisine, with particular emphasis on traditional New England fare, and not without occasional excursions into other ethnic ingredients and styles. Our mainstays are ingredients sourced from farms we know and locally to the extent possible, and always a sense of fun.

Our dining room is a casual and fun place to dine. We love to share our excitement about the food and wine we serve like we would in our own home. Guests and their friends should feel comfortable in our friendly and even familial environment as we make our food and guest the number one focus.

I was disappointed in my entrée, seafood fideos. The red sauce was very heavy, thick and rich, making it impossible to taste the few pieces of seafood hidden among the noodles and sauce.

I've been to Puritan and Co many times before. I love the vibe here, rustic but clean, good lighting, doesn't feel cramped. They have a great selection of wine and house cocktails, the food is absolutely delicious, and the servers are very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, overall they provide great service, until this evening…

Our server didn't greet us, he quickly poured our water without a "hello" or an attempt to make eye contact, and darted away. He came back 10-minutes later, and only asked "So what drinks you having?" with more of an attitude than a smile. We ordered cocktails and he snatched our wine glasses with one hand so they clanged together, stacked our side plates on the table, scooped them up with one hand, and tossed our menus back at us. 

Our drinks, appetizers, and entrees came and went, all delicious and well timed. Our utensils were cleared and table decrumbed between every course and water glasses were constantly filled. But this was all done by other staff members. We only saw our server once during the course of the meal, when he asked if we were enjoying the entrees and we were basically finished. 

Our server eventually asked if we would like dessert, and he noticed that I had placed my credit card on the table. He asked if we wanted the check, and returned a few minutes later, without a word, placed the bill on the table, and darted away. We waited at least 10-minutes for him to return, and watched him chat with other staff members, casually walking in and out of the kitchen without plates, all while making it impossible to get his attention without waving him down. Eventually we gave up and asked another staff member to run our card, and we left.

We love the food here, and the other staff members were very helpful and provided great service, but the experience was heavily marred by our server. We will return to Puritan and Co., but we were extremely dissappointed and wouldn’t return if this was our first time here.

What a wonderful place! Fine dining-level food and service in a casual, neighborhood restaurant. We were familiar with Will Gilson from the Herb Lyceum in Groton, and really enjoy his continued commitment to fresh ingredients, even in the middle of winter. We had the tasting menu which were all wonderful, our favorite being the first course of burrata, pesto, beets and endive. We also had the wine pairings which were somewhat hit or miss, but the best was an Oregon Alsatian-type off-dry blend paired with a course of poached egg, Romesco sauce and salsify chips. Can’t wait to go back again and try more innovative dishes from this amazing chef. This restaurant is a gem!!

This was my third time having Sunday brunch at Puritan. The food choices are always interesting, and the pastries are simply amazing. (Even the quiche crust is remarkable!) Service is attentive. Reservations are highly recommended around lunch time, at which time things can get a bit noisy. The drinks menu looks interesting, but I haven't tried it yet (I'm not a brunch-time drinker).

Underwhelming food, the pasta was soaked in sauce and lacked real flavor, mediocre chicken.
Maybe we just picked the wrong dishes given the high rating of the place.

Wonderful wonderful food. Our server chose an amazing wine for us. Puritan is our go-to place and we took a friend there to celebrate a 'big birthday,' but we also decided we should come back to Puritan and just eat an appetizer and a glass of wine on any night of the week.

Went on X-mas eve and had a 3-course tasting which was very good the homemade burrata, crudo, braised short ribs, pecan tart and buche du noel paired with some nice red wine all made for a good celebration. The only quibble was we also ordered oysters and just as we finished our first ones the first course came but the bartender apologized and things were much better paced after that. Kudos for delicious cocktails and the special after dinner treat. We will be back to try the regular menu.

Apps were significantly better (very generous portions as well) than entrees across the board.
