   This is the first time I went to Puritan and Co where I was extremely disappointed and left a terrible taste in my mouth. I’ve been previously going here often but I haven’t been back for over a year. I came on a Sunday where they no longer serve the chef’s menu Sunday and is only reserved for Monday to Saturday. They also removed the Sunday Prime Rib special. The choices left on the menu were so uninspired and boring. The main selections is pretty much the same you can get anywhere else. Everything was boring continental American food. There was nothing in the menu that was talking to us and we actually ordered off from the Puritan Oyster menu which was a bit more interesting. However the timing of the items we ordered were all in a disarray. We got the lobster roll way before we got our appetizers. We received the cold items 20-25 minutes after the lobster roll which was the entree. It just ruined the flow of dinner. As far for dessert, they used to serve dessert in their own plates and were plated nicely. But now all are served in these small bowls that feels like a cafeteria service now. The dessert was good but nothing to write home about. The previous desserts I’ve had here before were amazing and I often order two because of the caliber of desserts. This time not as spectacular. I don’t know what changes have happened in the restaurant in the last year but everything seems for the worse. It’s such a shame that I tell people this is my favorite place to in Boston but I don’t think I can recommend people anymore to go here anymore.

   We were excited for the Easter brunch. While the food was amazing, the service we received was inhospitable. Our server barely acknowledged our existence, interacted with us as if we were inconveniencing them by dining there. The manager (or who we believe wad the manager) was very nice and the staff supporting the server was very good, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by the way we were treated by our main server.

   An excellent meal as always! Their menu is just experimental enough to keep it interesting, but not so much that you have no idea what to try.

   Good brunch experience, not great. Main menu and service was great once we were seated. They had run out of pastries though, which had been what we were looking forward to. Also, did not have a table available at the time of our reservation, so had to wait a little bit (though not long - 5-10 min).

   We’ve enjoyed P&C many times for years since they opened, but hadn’t been there in several months. After getting back from a recent vacation we wanted to treat ourselves with their brunch. What we experienced was awful: the waitress took a while to come to our table, barely acknowledged our existence when she arrived, was rude and had the vibe that she didn’t want to be there; we put in our order which came out of the kitchen suspiciously too fast; my steak frites tasted old and the eggs were scarily runny; my husband’s eggs were over cooked and the mushrooms tasted under cooked. Just an overall shockingly bad experience. We would have complained in person, but the sheer bad vibes encouraged us to depart ASAP. After so many wonderful times there part of me hopes it was a fluke, but the experience was so bad that I don’t think we’ll ever return, which is sad.

    Really wanted to love it but the service was mediocre and lacking in the fun and friendliness they advertised on their website. Our waiter was perfunctory but blamed us for mistakes with our order. Maybe it was just an off day but I wouldn’t go back. Oysters weren’t shucked correctly despite having an oyster bar. We have high standards coming from Maine ;) The pork chop was a stand out though, so if you go, get that.
