The service was slow, our order was incorrect and the food was mediocre. After the food came the server paid little attention to us. I have to say, I was hoping for a better experience especially since they are known for their brunch!
The brunch was absolutely fantastic. The portions were very filling and a little on the large side if you want to try their amazing pastries. I highly recommend the kouign amann.
It's my favorite place in Cambridge. Hands down. Menu was great, ambiance was great, the service was great. Puritan and Co is consistently a homerun.
Amazing food, friendly staff. We enjoyed everything from starters through dessert
Chef's table seats at 6p was perfect. Low noise, fast service, excellent wine list with a wide price range, and yummy courses and deserts. Will definitely go back.
It was a solid “date night” location without separating itself from the pack. I was hoping it might be a step or two better than restaurants where I live in Jamaica Plain. It was about the same quality, but a little more expensive, and the service was only ok. The negroni was great though. I would go again for sure, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
Perfect place for a sunday brunch
Love it !
Food was outstanding, and the portions were bigger than I anticipated. Typically when you order duck, you tend to get skimped. This what not the case with the hash, which was awesome. The rose sangria was exceptional. Bathrooms have a weird setup and the light was broken, but I'm definitely recommending this place for a brunch date.
Bring several people with you so you can split the pastry basket and try a little of everything.
The food and service was amazing! Not a single complaint :)
We had a good time. Food portions were smaller than I was expecting, but service was good and the drinks were great.
An excellent place with a very nice menu. Seafood is really fresh and the Tomahawk was amazing!
Great food, staff, loved all!!
This place was phenomenal. Not only was the dinner that best in every way that I've had as long as I can remember, but the service was amazing and everything was basically perfect
Loved it a month ago not so great this past weekend. Will come back again.
I went here on a date on a Friday and used OpenTable for the res. P&Co did a great job of working with our dietary restrictions (no gluten, no dairy.) Everyone we interacted with knew enough about the items on the menu to recommend dishes that fit or could be changed to fit our needs. We had excellent meal for a good price!
My only regret is that I didn’t eat more. Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic!
A gem of a restaurant! Our servers were attentive to us and passionate about the experience of the tasting menu—they really talked us through each delicious creation. Already looking forward to the next visit.
So glad I finally made it here & can't wait to go back! We did the chef's tasting menu and the quality of food for the price is a wonderful value! Can't recommend enough.
As always, Puritan and Co exceeded my expectations. The food was great, our waitress was very kind and accommodated a few food allergies adeptly. The kitchen was turning out amazing food. I always forget how wonderful their food is. Everything we had was just a little surprising and all very satisfying. I can't wait to go back. They have a cocktail with bourbon, grapefruit and honey that is dangerous. Also ask lots of wine questions because they have a great list and are happy to help!
I've heard great things about this place for a while now and recently took my parents there while they were visiting. We had a great time, the service was excellent, and the food was delish! We split the spinach and artichoke toast, burrata, and barbeque beets before order out entrees. I had the salmon and would highly recommend any of those choices and would happily order them again. The server was personable, kind, and offered the perfect wine pairing suggestions for our meal.
All in all a delightful dinner. We had all three of the Toasts and three of the pasta dishes. Each was imaginative and delicious. Sara was pleasant and efficient.
Fantastic attentive service, delicious meals, wonderful ambience.
We had the seasonal tasting menu and loved it. Also got some great wine recommendations throughout the meal. A great place to come to eat food with very interesting flavor combinations and great ingredients in a relaxed atmosphere.
Great food, great drinks and great ambiance. Will definitely be back
Food was good and server was nice, a bit pricey for what you get but all the food is delicious.
Good food good atmosphere, a little noisy but tolerable. Competent waiter who seemed more interested in other tables guests, but very nice and knowledgeable. Enjoyed the meal and experience
I think this goes down as the worse Mother’s Day meal ever. Our server was nice- but after taking our order and pouring our sangria into our glasses we never saw him again. The chopped salad appetizer was fine and a good serving. The asparagus bisque was 8 tablespoons full in a large bowl with a shallow insert to make it look plentiful. It was served warm and was not hot. Someone cleared our dishes. Then our entree came and was thrown in front of us by a sever and he left. No explanation. Just dropped in our place setting. The cod was fine although we were advised that it would not be served in a phyllo dough. The gnocchi was indistinguishable. It was mushed potato with artichoke surrounding the gnocchi. It was hard to determine which was which. We never saw our waiter from the time we ordered. No one came by to see how everything was. My husband finished and I had no one to tell about the disappointment in the dish. Someone arrived to clear the plates and asked if I’d like to take it home. I asked for the manager. Peter arrived at our table. I told him about our disappointment. We had hoped to see Will Gilson there as we had done two private parties at the Herb Lyceum- and that we I was most disappointed with my meal, the lack of service, and we asked for the check and to skip dessert. We waited and waited. Our original server still never came to our table. Two spoons were placed by our table setting. We looked at each other as we were waiting for the check and NO DESSERT. Peter was packing the dessert to go. He brought a togo bag to our table, dropping it on the table and said there was no charge for the meal and hurried away. We were startled by what happened. We want to leave something for the server. We left a $20 on the table. I got up and went up to the server and said I don’t know what happened as it started off just fine. Peter was nearby and I asked why he just left the bag without and apology and he just blamed us for having a problem
This was our third time at Puritan, and the first time for dinner. Food was outstanding, service very attentive and prompt. We just love this place. Fresh, delicious food. Will definitely be back again, despite the longish drive - well worth it.
I took my mom out for Mother's Day brunch because their menu looked absolutely amazing! Very well curated, focused on mostly seasonal items, and even had a lemon artichoke gnocchi dish for a brunch item! The portion sizes were PERFECT, not too small and just right to not fill grossly stuffed at the end. The place is beautiful and very quiet, even with almost every seat taken. Definitely a place to go for a more casual, special occasion, or having friends visiting Cambridge, or even just for a fun dinner with friends! I will definitely be back (especially for Bloody Mary's with the option of gin!)
This is a very well run establishment. The front of the house staff is attentive and efficient. Our crab toast was interesting in a very good way, my duck perfectly cooked. My wife didn't enjoy the accompaniments that were served with her salmon, but her salmon was cooked very much to her liking. We'll be back.
ex cellist food and service, a bit noisy for conversation
Puritan and Company is our absolute favorite restaurant. This was the first time we had visited for brunch and it was just like visiting for dinner - outstanding.
Cozy romantic ambiance, with acoustic panels and soft seating to decrease noise! Much appreciated. Limited seafood-heavy menu can nonetheless be quickly made vegetarian with veg or mushroom substitutions. Just ask! Servers are so helpful and knowledgeable. Delicious and craveable spring greens salad with green goddess dressing and crispy flat bread chunks! Perfectly cooked tender salmon w crisp exterior, lots of flavorful veg, and delicious crispy spaetzle!! Notable and interesting wine list! An entire section of Vino de Velo, or wines aged under Flor/yeast layer. Sherry, etc. Impressive selection of amari as well. Can't wait to go back and try all the things!! Out of the way place but well worth the trip: great food, great drinks, great ambiance, relatively quiet, gracious and attentive A+ servers who strive to meet your dining needs.
It was not nice. We have dined there previously and loved it but this time I took friends from out of town for dinner and everything was messed up.
Diners should be cautioned that this restaurant engages in mild price deception. Upon completing dinner, the bill that we received included an additional 4 percent charge listed as a fee for the kitchen staff. I inquired about this, as I had never seen such a fee before at any restaurant. I was told that the waiters pool tips, but that law does not allow pooling tips with kitchen staff. Hence, the management adds 4 percent as an implicit tip for kitchen staff. I suggested that the pricing of menu items should include the amount to pay kitchen staff adequate wages. I was told that the management prefers not to do this, as it makes the restaurant appear more expensive. Thus, instead of being honest about the prices of menu items, the restaurant has chosen to be deceptive about its pricing, with diners paying 4 percent more than the prices shown on the menus.
We had an OK time but it was my brother's Birthday and I asked the hostess if she could do something for his Birthday (which typically signals the desire for a dessert with a candle in it) and they brought a bowl with a candle in it standing up NOT inside any desert. It was very weird. This seemed like a major miscommunication and if our party hadn't been good humored it could have gone poorly for the waitstaff.
The menu was very diverse, both food and drink-wise, which was great. The burrata was delicious! I ordered the gnocchi with king crab and did not love the sauce, but that could have just been my personal preference. Service was fantastic and our server was very organized and knowledgable.
Brunch at Puritan is always superb. The pastries are great.
