Fantastic attentive service, delicious meals, wonderful ambience.
We had the seasonal tasting menu and loved it. Also got some great wine recommendations throughout the meal. A great place to come to eat food with very interesting flavor combinations and great ingredients in a relaxed atmosphere.
Great food, great drinks and great ambiance. Will definitely be back
Food was good and server was nice, a bit pricey for what you get but all the food is delicious.
Good food good atmosphere, a little noisy but tolerable. Competent waiter who seemed more interested in other tables guests, but very nice and knowledgeable. Enjoyed the meal and experience
I think this goes down as the worse Mother’s Day meal ever. Our server was nice- but after taking our order and pouring our sangria into our glasses we never saw him again. The chopped salad appetizer was fine and a good serving. The asparagus bisque was 8 tablespoons full in a large bowl with a shallow insert to make it look plentiful. It was served warm and was not hot. Someone cleared our dishes. Then our entree came and was thrown in front of us by a sever and he left. No explanation. Just dropped in our place setting. The cod was fine although we were advised that it would not be served in a phyllo dough. The gnocchi was indistinguishable. It was mushed potato with artichoke surrounding the gnocchi. It was hard to determine which was which. We never saw our waiter from the time we ordered. No one came by to see how everything was. My husband finished and I had no one to tell about the disappointment in the dish. Someone arrived to clear the plates and asked if I’d like to take it home. I asked for the manager. Peter arrived at our table. I told him about our disappointment. We had hoped to see Will Gilson there as we had done two private parties at the Herb Lyceum- and that we I was most disappointed with my meal, the lack of service, and we asked for the check and to skip dessert. We waited and waited. Our original server still never came to our table. Two spoons were placed by our table setting. We looked at each other as we were waiting for the check and NO DESSERT. Peter was packing the dessert to go. He brought a togo bag to our table, dropping it on the table and said there was no charge for the meal and hurried away. We were startled by what happened. We want to leave something for the server. We left a $20 on the table. I got up and went up to the server and said I don’t know what happened as it started off just fine. Peter was nearby and I asked why he just left the bag without and apology and he just blamed us for having a problem
This was our third time at Puritan, and the first time for dinner. Food was outstanding, service very attentive and prompt. We just love this place. Fresh, delicious food. Will definitely be back again, despite the longish drive - well worth it.
I took my mom out for Mother's Day brunch because their menu looked absolutely amazing! Very well curated, focused on mostly seasonal items, and even had a lemon artichoke gnocchi dish for a brunch item! The portion sizes were PERFECT, not too small and just right to not fill grossly stuffed at the end. The place is beautiful and very quiet, even with almost every seat taken. Definitely a place to go for a more casual, special occasion, or having friends visiting Cambridge, or even just for a fun dinner with friends! I will definitely be back (especially for Bloody Mary's with the option of gin!)
This is a very well run establishment. The front of the house staff is attentive and efficient. Our crab toast was interesting in a very good way, my duck perfectly cooked. My wife didn't enjoy the accompaniments that were served with her salmon, but her salmon was cooked very much to her liking. We'll be back.
ex cellist food and service, a bit noisy for conversation
Puritan and Company is our absolute favorite restaurant. This was the first time we had visited for brunch and it was just like visiting for dinner - outstanding.
Cozy romantic ambiance, with acoustic panels and soft seating to decrease noise! Much appreciated. Limited seafood-heavy menu can nonetheless be quickly made vegetarian with veg or mushroom substitutions. Just ask! Servers are so helpful and knowledgeable. Delicious and craveable spring greens salad with green goddess dressing and crispy flat bread chunks! Perfectly cooked tender salmon w crisp exterior, lots of flavorful veg, and delicious crispy spaetzle!! Notable and interesting wine list! An entire section of Vino de Velo, or wines aged under Flor/yeast layer. Sherry, etc. Impressive selection of amari as well. Can't wait to go back and try all the things!! Out of the way place but well worth the trip: great food, great drinks, great ambiance, relatively quiet, gracious and attentive A+ servers who strive to meet your dining needs.
It was not nice. We have dined there previously and loved it but this time I took friends from out of town for dinner and everything was messed up.
Diners should be cautioned that this restaurant engages in mild price deception. Upon completing dinner, the bill that we received included an additional 4 percent charge listed as a fee for the kitchen staff. I inquired about this, as I had never seen such a fee before at any restaurant. I was told that the waiters pool tips, but that law does not allow pooling tips with kitchen staff. Hence, the management adds 4 percent as an implicit tip for kitchen staff. I suggested that the pricing of menu items should include the amount to pay kitchen staff adequate wages. I was told that the management prefers not to do this, as it makes the restaurant appear more expensive. Thus, instead of being honest about the prices of menu items, the restaurant has chosen to be deceptive about its pricing, with diners paying 4 percent more than the prices shown on the menus.
We had an OK time but it was my brother's Birthday and I asked the hostess if she could do something for his Birthday (which typically signals the desire for a dessert with a candle in it) and they brought a bowl with a candle in it standing up NOT inside any desert. It was very weird. This seemed like a major miscommunication and if our party hadn't been good humored it could have gone poorly for the waitstaff.
The menu was very diverse, both food and drink-wise, which was great. The burrata was delicious! I ordered the gnocchi with king crab and did not love the sauce, but that could have just been my personal preference. Service was fantastic and our server was very organized and knowledgable.
Brunch at Puritan is always superb. The pastries are great.
Excellent ingredients carefully presented. Tasting menu was lovely, although two scallop dishes seemed superfluous. Wine, beer, and cocktail menu extremely well curated. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable. Ambience nice: dim, but not too dark; bustling and noisy, but not oppressively so. Pricey but not outlandish.
Went here for a celebratory dinner with my boyfriend after moving in together, we were not disappointed! The layout of the restaurant felt like I was in someone's home, very open and inviting, cool mix of freshly painted walls and wood. The tables were also a good distance apart from each other and definitely not crammed in close to create extra seating like other Boston places. The burrata stuffed with truffle blew my mind along with the beef carpaccio! Awesome service, delicious menu, will definitely be going back.
We had an incredible night! So delicious. And we were so well taken care of!
Puritan is always great, but tonight was even better! Our waitress and sommelier were attentive, helpful, funny, and super delightful. They have their own in-house chef who just makes pasta (she's from Italy). It shows. The food was outstanding, some of the best pasta I have ever eaten and I've been to Italy many times. The atmosphere is great...young couples with babies all the way to older couples dressed up. Fantastic beer and wine menu. It's a favorite I will return to with guests time and time again. I actually think it keeps getting better!
Food great as always.
VERY poor reservation management. Reservation was made via OpenTable for bar seating not table. When I noticed this and called (24 hours ahead of time), I was given a table. Then 2 hours before dinner I was called and told "no, it will be counter after all." Obviously much too late to cancel and find another restaurant. Ruined a birthday dinner plan. oh, and by the way, the service was uncharacteristically poor -- they brought out a side vegetable before the appetizers, then there was a long wait between appetizers and dinner.
Meant to go here since it opened -- so glad we did. Will now be regulars! Wonderful food -- taste, textures, visual. Such friendly service. And fascinating wine list.
Superb small plates and good wine selections! I came here for an informal work dinner and was pleased with the selection of smaller plates, imaginatively prepared and healthy. the Nettle arincini were terrific, as was the crispy octopus and the seared broccoli is always a favorite.
Hands down, the best food, atmosphere and service I’ve had since moving to the Boston area two years ago!
My daughter and I are visiting for college tours and celebrating her birthday. We were looking for a nice dinner within walking distance of our B&B. Puritan & Co came up as a top choice. A wonderful experience from the drink options to fresh oysters and main course (Grilled Scottish Salmon and Potato Gnocchi). Truly delicious.
The staff was very friendly and attentive.
I would certainly eat here on our next visit.
Great staff and service, wonderful food, surprising and fun wine list--all around excellent--this after 5 repeat visits, all great!
Wonderful place, the food was exceptional (try the Gnocchi it’s life changing). I plan on coming back multiple times in the future, especially since they’re going to roll out new menu items for spring. Thank you for having us!
The host was very hot and impeccable. Will definitely go back just to have another glance on her. OBSESSED! Emrata level hotness.
We had a lovely meal at Puritan and Co; all the food was delicious! The only hiccup was that the staff seemed unfamiliar with some of the menu items and weren't able to fully answer our questions about them.
It was great!
We had a fantastic time! Food and service were phenomenal as always:
The restaurant was pretty inside with a warm ambience. I couldn’t get past the quality of the food however. Th starter was a roasted broccoli with a spicy tahini sauce. The broccoli was cooked well, however the sauce that also had feta in it was tasty but there wasn’t enough of it to carry it as a true starter. The feta tahini sauce seemed like an afterthought because there was so little of it. My daughter and I both ordered pasta dishes as mains and they were both underwhelming and not quite right. The potato mushroom gnocchi was an unappetizing brown color with no color differentiation in the bowl. It looked like a brown heavy blob. It also did not have a correct acidity balance. It simply tasted of very strong vinegar which was off putting and seemed like a rookie mistake for a cook in a kitchen. My daughter ordered the crab pasta and again, it was underwhelming and the crab flavor overpowered the pasta and sauce. Her dish should have had a more delicate flavor of crab. It was also too goopy. Very disappointing meal. Good pasta is not rocket science, it simply needs an experienced cook who knows what it should taste and look like on a plate.
Wonderful date night, well made cocktails and perfect beer selection. Pasta is phenomenal. Service is impeccable, you will not be disappointed.
Took us 45 minutes to receive meal, it was good but not spectacular.
Food was just delicious. Highlights were the rolls, charred brocoli appetizer, salmon, cocktails. It was quite crowded so a bit loud for pleasant conversation. Service was relaxed but we were enjoying ourselves. Better not to feel rushed. Definitely recommend
Sat at the bar. The bartender was very pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient. The appetizers I had were delicious and well presented.
Excellent overall. Food was great. My friends felt a little ignored by the wait staff. Still, excellent overall.
