It was my first time dining here. Loved it! Enjoyed their special Sunday evening prime rib dinner, complete with side dishes! Service was great and the kitchen did a perfect job accommodating my wife’s food allergies. Happy to support a locally-owned restaurant that is creating really good food.
This is one of my favorite brunch place! The pastry basket is delicious and the service is great. I just keep coming back!
Excellent meal. Inventive menu - great flavor combinations using high quality ingredients. Great beer. Really fantastic overall experience. Will be back for sure. Thanks.
First time in, very nice. We will be back!
As a former restaurant manager, catering manager and baker, this restaurant "takes the cake". The food is very special, the portion size is perfect and it is innovative with out being pretentious. I have sent many people there including my boss and his boss.
And being a "wine geek" I loved trying all of the wines that you could not normally find! The wine service was amazing
We had a wonderful time on New Year’s Eve - the food was amazing, the waitstaff was wonderful and the sommelier was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging! Highly recommend 👍🏻
This was New Year’s Eve. Fix priced preset menu.
Food was excellent. Service was one of the best That
I have ever experienced. The entire staff pitched in to make it a very memorable occasion.
Our favorite place- keeps getting better! There for New Year ‘s Eve dinner this time-wow!
Everything was delicious from the cocktails & starters to dessert . Service was warm and friendly as always.
Very good overall
Our party of four had a wonderful time here. The food was outstanding and the wait staff was very knowledgeable.
All the vegetarian side dishes we tried were delicious, interesting for jaded vegetarian restaurant goers, and well cooked. Special note: the squash gratin with cream, cheese, and crispy crumb topping is like a low carb comforting mac and cheese entree! Would make a cozy filling vegetarian meal if ordered with another vegetable side (or custom plate!). My salmon was overcooked, but edible: the accompanying perfectly roasted Brussels sprouts, French lentils, and mustardy cream were the highlight of the meal for me. Ambiance was dark but romantic, with especially cozy, cushioned corner booths. I appreciate that this place put effort into sound dampening panels on ceiling and one wall - very helpful for reducing noise in an otherwise brick and hard surfaces interior. The service was absolutely excellent: attentive, friendly, helpful, but never pushy or uncomfortable. Lots of enthusiastic and filling options for vegetarians when we inquired! Napkins were folded, water refilled, and crumbs removed as if by magic. Cocktails were delicious, unique, and balanced, not too sweet at all - and the amari selection is robust. Chocolate mousse with teff brownie and nougat was surprising but not disappointing. Would definitely return for another cozy evening of crafty cocktails and cozy, better than expected dining.
The food is delicious and affordable in terms of farm to table restaurants. I highly recommend.
Love this place
Menu was interesting, and prices weren’t too bad. However, our server was rude, and that would deter me from coming back.
Still can’t stop talking about the gnocchi! So many great, delicious options to split and the chef/owner is so personable (brings dishes out to tables). We will definitely go back again soon!
The drinks were great, the food was fine and I appreciated that the place wasn't super loud. I was confused by the message the wait staff appearance is trying to convey. Beer-bellied young men in plaid shirts - is that how puritans looked?
Fantastic, professional service. Outstanding food. Energetic but not overpowering atmosphere.
Everything was delicious from the awesome rolls to the baked cod, potato gnocchi...We all tried the pumpkin & cranberry bean fritters..good for a light appetizer
The toffee desert yummy..
Meal was a little slow in serving but it was worth it.. all individually
Prepared and all came out very hot!!
Ready to go back and try something different!!
Not a lot to say. I've been at the restaurant or bar a few times before and had a pretty good experience. The last time was very mediocre. Some nice presentations of some dishes, but in the end I want to have enough food on the plate to really savor it. Some dishes had miserly, almost laughable portions. At the end of the meal, I shouldn't still be feeling hungry.
Honestly, we were not quite impressed with Puritan & Co, especially with the overwhelming good reviews. We were excited to participate in Prime Rib Sunday, but left disappointed. We had some mediocre cocktails, bland food/unbalanced plates, and decently delicious dessert. Unfortunately, nothing left an impressionable experience.
One of the best brunches in Cambridge. Great quiche, pork belly hash and fish tacos. Tasty bloody Mary, too.
Four of us dined Saturday evening. While two dishes were quite good (flat iron steak), the tuna schnitzel was very disappointing. The entire meal was cold, but had taken so long between courses - which continued through to receiving the check 3 hours later - we did not want to wait for an exchange. Our server varied in attitude from helpful and friendly to snooty. This spot seems to have a lot of potential but given the inconsistent experience we will likely not return.
We took my “foodie” daughter here for her birthday and she loved it. We then found out she’d been twice before and it’s one of her fav restaurants. Interesting choices, excellent service, great wine and creative drink. Bill was steep but we all enjoyed what we ordered. Excellent for a special occasion.
PERFECT place for a birthday brunch!
Lovely dinner for a family reunion; creative well prepared food. Special steak entree was surprisingly tough meat for a $42 price: all else top notch
Absolutely loved everything about the experience. The hostess, Morgan, was so helpful and accommodating, our server (I forget his name!) was so charming and on point all night. Excellent wine recommendations and the food was good. My steak was a bit over cooked (closer to medium than medium rare) but the quality of the ingredients and inventiveness were just wonderful. Will definitely go back!
The service is attentive, especially the Wine Director. The chef is consistently creative. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. I'm a moderately regular and am never disappointed.
Would have given 5 stars if the manager hadn’t come over and warned us we had to finish our meal by a particular time. We had been raving to each other about the experience, and our waitress was truly outstanding. It’s a shame that the manager approached the situation the way he did. I understand having to turn tables— we would have been glad to relocate to another table or the bar if they needed our table for a large party. Sadly, that wasn’t part of the conversation because he didn’t offer— we were essentially told that we had 45 minutes to finish our meal. I won’t be back, but it’s a shame, because it was really great, otherwise.
We were a party of four, all “foodies” and had a wonderful dining experience. Our server was fantastic... she was not only knowledgeable about both the food and wine menu, but had a warm and fun personality which made our evening even better.
The food was not only delicious but beautifully presented. We shared all of our selections and they were all fantastic —from the vegetable fritters to the amazing lamb shank .
Helpful staff, excellent food
Puritan is a great find with creative and delicious options! I was with a fellow gluten free diner and there were plenty of options for her. Puritan provides a cozy atmosphere yet is a pretty big restaurant.
I was recommend this restaurant by some friends of mine and the first time I went was for Taste of Cambridge and they had a different menu for that (which was really good) so I figured that I had to go back again and try from their regular menu which was also really good. I’m vegetarian and allergic to shellfish and they were really accommodating with substitutions and making sure that i was getting enoug food when I ordered something with crab meat for example they offered me a piece of grilled fish or extra veggies. The drinks are always good they have a really good selection for Amaro and wine was also good. It’s worth the money you spend on the food and to leave feeling satisfied but not over stuffed.
Fabulous service - our 4th time here for Sunday brunch. Great food - gourmet and unique breakfast options. Only ding would be - please add espresso and cappuccino to the menu!
Delicious dinner of seasonal foods. Excellent staff and service
Amazing food and amazing service!
Came on a very cold evening (10-15 degrees) and had asked for a booth when making the reservation. The restaurant was nearly empty (about ten guests and twenty empty tables). Maitre de said the only spot available was next to the window at entrance, the coldest table in the house. When I told her that I had specially requested and pointed to six available booths, she repeated "No!" Although I froze during dinner, the food was amazing. When we left there were still two empty booths. The hostess repeated that she would never give them to us no matter how much we requested. Although the food is amazing, I wouldn't take the risk of being locked in Siberia again.
Been here many times and have never been disappointed with the experience - warm, welcoming, friendly staff. Outstanding food always well seasoned by the highly knowledgeable kitchen staff. Keep up the great job you guys are killing it!
Had the tasting menu on Sunday for my boyfriend and my anniversary. It was amazing food, and the waiter treated us very well. The tasting ended up being too much food for us to finish, a first in all the tastings we have gone to.
Puritan has really upped their game in the last year. One of my favorite reliable places for meals that impress. The fritters we had were a rare miss for them, but great overall
Get there early for brunch before all the pastries are gone!
